In the old Superman movies he was moving planets, spinning the earth around to move back time, and rebuilding the Great Wall of China extremely fast!

What's Superman's strength level going to be in this film?

Well from the spoilers Superman
Rips New Krypton out of the earth and hurls it into space

So I would say very strong :D

Is it me, or does that seem a tad anti-climactic? I mean, what threat is this big continent if Big Blue can just throw it away? I mean, for goodness sakes, who wants a movie of Superman fighting a piece of land?

I heard that rumor and hope it's not true. Matt, you're right it does seem anti-climatic. What threat is there if Superman's stregnth is at pre-crises level? Besides even if it was he couldn't realistically rip a huge chunk out of the earth without parts breaking off.

By the way, where'd this rumor come from and how likely is it?

Superman vs Real Estate: Not even the man of steel can deal with the lazy contractors he hired

I dunno, Superman vs New Krypton, no matter how he defeats it seems stupid...as it is a piece of rock.

It's you.

Hey Agentdemon, I just took a hammer to the sidewalk and cracked it. How exciting that was, I defeated the evil sidewalk. All marvel upon my heroic, miraculous feats.

'Just throw it away'.

Its a tad more complicated than that.

Really, how? Its a piece of land.

Its a freaking huge chuck of land.

Its a guy who can fly so fast around the world he turns back time. I mean, a big chunk of land isn't much to him.

What??? I hope it isn't true, because it would not be logical. And space also can be damaged.

Besides Superman cant take big continent and throw it. I think NK will widen, that is big problem.

And the only way to destroy it is [spoilers] Superman will destroy it with his heat vision. Or he can dip it into the ocean. [/spoiler]

That what I think...

Is Superman supposed to have actually changed the rotation of the earth in Superman one or was he flying so fast around the earth that he travelled through time? (the change in the spin would have been from his perspective only).

When I was a kid I thought he moved the earth... but I really hope the real answer is the second one... it's so much easier to digest.

Oh no, please.

We have enough from STM, not this again. Singer is clever director, and I hope he will not make Superman turning time back.

It would suck.

Superman at the Pre-Crisis levels is rather boring and I think will actually turn more than a few people off for the same reasons that Matt stated.

I think that the DCAU captured Superman's strength the best. He's strong, but can still be hurt, but can cut loose when he needs to. Pure Pre-Crisis all the time is very boring and will likely get old quick for today's audience.

I think we will get new Superman without and views from Pre- or Post-Crisis.

The same I can say about Spacey's Luthor being new view of Lex without Hackman's or STAS parts.

That is wack, wack, wack

Its no different from Superman lifting up a tectonic plate to stop an earthquake in Superman 1.

I actually do not mind his strength levels so much for here he is fighting against the mid of someone not dealing so much with physical threats (ignoring kryptonite). And if he was to battle a physical opponent you would see that opponent surprisingly have a similar level of strength.

Didn't Singer mention a few months back that even Superman has his limits when it comes to his strenght?

Aquaman wouldn't appreciate that. :D

LOL

I mean
he can fly to NK faster than a bullet with powerful substance (like meteorite would fly to Earth with fire and dip some Island into the ocean) and dip it

Thats worth the $7.00 to me.It should be awesome to see, with the williams theme playing....
