I was thinking... with all that speed that he has, wouldn't he trip when he's running fast? Like when turning a corner, isn't he going too fast to acknowledge it? And if he's a super quick thinker as well... why isn't he a genius?

How many Superman comics do you read? Superman is a genius.

He can probably kick Takeru Kobayashi's ass in a hot dog eating contest too.

Read "Up, up, and Away!" You'll find that in fact, his thinking is not only fast, but faster now than it has ever been. This, along with other elements (many of which have been creeping in with this arc specifically), is why some fans are worried we might be on the road to a pre-Crisis-level Superman.

I don't know about that, bleed... superman does have his limits. That man does not.

Does that mean he has super humor as well, because he doesn't seem to be that funny.

Dunno bout that, but apparently he has super control over his super sperm...otherwise Lois woulda been super split in half.

No wonder people think he's boring.

Actually, I don't think this "super intellect" power happened until this year in the Up, Up and Away arc.

However with that said, I still wouldn't call him a genius on the level of Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor.

considering supermans brain is a million times more capable of holding more knowledge, and calculateing probelms a trillion times faster. I would say superman is smarter then Lex and Batman, he just doesn't need to build fancy gadgets. Didn't he have a lab and stuff back in the pre-crisis comic? I also read in All star superman, and he is shown makeing things Lex or Batman could never comprehend.

Well, if his intellect is still building up like that, then he's still not at the level of Bruce or Lex.

And, in ALL STAR SUPERMAN, he's got robots helping him out....and his intellect has risen b/c he's dying.

From a Seinfeld episode...

JERRY: I think Superman probably has a very good sense of humor.

GEORGE: I never heard him say anything really funny.

JERRY: But it's common sense. He's got super strength, super speed.. I'm sure he's got super humor.

GEORGE: You would think that, but either you're born with a sense of humor, or you're not. It's not going to change even if you go from the red sun of Krypton all the way to the yellow sun of the Earth.

JERRY: Why? Why would that one area of his mind not be affected by the yellow sun of Earth?

GEORGE: I don't know but he ain't funny.

But Superman's never been characterized as being of genius intellect. He's a smart man, no question, but he's never really shown the tactical, scientific or academic intelligence of Batman (yes, Batman can do more than just build gadgets) or Lex Luthor.

And All Star Superman isn't in continuity.

superman build androids to replace him when hes away, that pretty much says everything.

But, like CConn said, All Star is not in continuity.

Does he build robots in the regular stuff, though?

yea dude, don't you read comics?. The superman robots have been around for years, one of them killed Donna Troy 3 years ago. Supes has them in regular stuff to, and builds them himself. They have half of superman strength, and can basically act just like him. He even has clark kent ones to i believe.

he had robots guard the FOS in Pre-Crisis if i remember correctly.

Superman is super smart, he came from an advanced race after all. he just didnt grow up with them.

the biggest reason why Superman comes across as dumb next to Batman and Lex is because he has a very trusting personality-- he always tries to see the best in people, always tries to give them a chance of turning over a new leaf. that's how he was raised by the Kents. that's something Bruce always rolls his eyes on and Lex always takes advantage of.

Not only is Superman super-fast, but his reflexes are amazingly quick. So when he runs at high speed, it's like use running at our full speed it's all relative.

Well, All Star is supposed to be sort of a Golden Age throwback.....with the robots and stuff, and good cheese and all.....I really thought the robots and stuff were retconned.

That was a good point too, Superman's kindness.....and, I dunno.....his good will does seem to make him come off as a bit of an idiot at times in the books.

Now that I can accept.
