Survivor: Kaoh Rong

Seemed to me last week that Aubry was getting the winner's edit. Then she made a ridiculously stupid move this week that has hurt her standing in the game. Honestly, under the right circumstances, it could be just about anyone. I can't recall the last time that the game was so up in the air this late in the season. Even close games can usually be narrowed down to a few serious contenders. But of the remaining players I really cannot think of anyone who cannot win at this point.

I don't think Jason, Scot, or Joe can win, Jason and Scot because they've been edited so negatively and Joe because he's hardly been seen at all. That's it, though.

But it all depends, If Joe is sitting next to Jason and Scott in the finals, provided he does not do anything socially obnoxious, he could win. As to Jason and Scott, it depends. Imagine again a scenario of Joe, Jason, and Scott as the final three. If the jury is not overly bitter and views Joe as a useless floater, they may reward the more dominant player (and then it is a flip of the coin between Jason and Scott). They can make the same argument if they are sitting next to Tai, assuming the jury is looking to reward game play, not likeability. The players this season seem like pretty hardcore Survivor afficondos/gamers, so it may be premature to assume we will be dealing with bitter jury syndrome. I really think this game is wide open.

I have a hard time seeing Joe win unless he manages to end up with Jason and Scott in the final three and everyone else is pissed at J&C.

If I were a gambling man I'd put my money on Ty winning, he has been getting a very positive editing so far and it seems like everyone likes him.

But that is the reason he won't be allowed to make it to the finals. You have to be likeable on Survivor, but not overly likeable. That is a sure fired way to get voted out.

It's not so much that I believe Joe, Jason, and Scot couldn't win the game, it's that I believe they didn't. The editors can manipulate footage to turn the survivors into particular characters; if Jason or Scot had won, I suspect they'd be portrayed more positively to make them more palatable to the audience. If Joe had won he'd be more visible. He barely speaks in every episode.

We've had winners before that weren't shown to be that likable, and I think the show likes having the occasional "villain" win so we can't assume to much about how individuals are being portrayed. Plus both Scott and Jason have had scenes that are supposed to humanize them, and I don't really recall any other players having stories from home make it into the show.

Looking at the current jury it doesn't actually look that bad for Jason and Scott:

- Neil was pulled from the game so he has no reason to have a grudge
- Nick was voted out by all the other players
- Debbie was blindsided by her girl alliance. But on the flip side she really doesn't like to guys.

If the girls continue to be dysfunctional it could create further rifts there which would help J&C.

I will admit the story Jason told about his daughter gives me pause. I'm hoping that it just means he'll be in the finals and the editors don't want to make it too obvious he'll lose. OTOH, it could be that either he or Scot wins and they were so vile out there that the edit they've received is the best they can get.

This week's blindside is up there as one of the best blindsides ever. :awesome: I love seeing the brodouches scramble. Audrey or Tai would make fine winners.

Absolutely agree! The look on Scot's face when Tai said no was priceless. He might be a decent guy in the real world, but seeing that smug POS exit had me smiling ear to ear. I wonder what childish antics Jason will pull next week, and what kind of backpedaling is Julia going to have to do now?!

Karma...she is a *****.:woot:

Not only was Scot blindsided, but he took Jason's idol with him, leaving Jason vulnerable and negating the superidol. This was probably the smartest blindside of all time.

This whole season is on fire. I find it amazing that Probst didn't promote it at all (he normally does) and that they decided to table this season and lead with Second Chance (which filmed after this one). Survivor has been amazing as of late. I can count maybe one bad season in the past 7 or 8.

Also, props to Tai. It was a stupid move on his part. He wanted to be in the finals with Jason and Scott. Now he has basically made winning impossible as he just lost 3 jury votes that he needed. But kudos to him for making a big move. When this season began I had Tai pegged for a gimmick character like Philip, who was funny to watch but not much of a gamer. Damned if he hasn't proven me wrong. He has been playing the game hard.

Also, props to Aubry for flipping him. It was a brilliant bit of manipulation. She deserves to win this season.

I see it that Tai had no choice . . . Scott had four votes, and he and Aubry had three each - so if Scott was given the idol it was probably a 50/50 chance that Tai would be eliminated.

And I think that Tai just got completely sick of Scott giving orders to everyone else that had to be obeyed.

Great move!

I think that Aubry managed to get into Tai's head and make it spin. Voting out Scott was not in Tai's best interest since he just lost two votes at the end (Scott and Jason) while I suspect all the credit for the move will go to Aubry for flipping him.

What I don't understand from that night was why didn't Scott just play the idol as a normal idol before the votes where read? Based on everything he thought he knew they would be playing the super idol and thus using both idols. The smart play would have been to simply use the idols to keep all three guys save at that vote.

I guess they could have been hoping for another strange vote but that is so unlikely to happen twice that playing it safe would have been the right choice.

I think what sealed the deal to Tai is Aubrey's awesome "I want you to be comfortable" speech. Contradict that with how Scott and Jason were ignoring him... It's really an awesome play.

I think it's partly because they wanted to make a huge show of using the "super idol!111"

This season continues to be amazing!

I literally laughed out loud, when Tai denied Scot the super idol! It was sooooo amazing! Love this season!

Watch this GIF while listening to Heartless. It's awesome. :hehe:

I wonder what exactly the rules of the super idol are. Does the super idol have to be actually put together before the vote? That would make sense to me, but that's probably not how it works.

Can't be how it works since Scott only had one idol and needed Tai to give him his after the votes were read.

Based on what they read off the clues, it wasn't specified, and it's possible they just assumed they could create the super idol after the vote. It just makes sense to me that because the individual idols have no power after the vote, that they couldn't be used in any capacity after the vote, including creating the super idol, and that the super idol would have to be already formed prior to voting. But I'm probably thinking about this too much.

I wanted to see the super-idol used b/c I don't think the girls/Joe understand how it works yet and I just wanted to see their reaction. But it was just as entertaining watching Tai refuse to hand it over to Scot -- that must have been hard in a way for Tai, refusing it right to Scot's face, but good for Tai! Great blindside, especially after watching Jason boast about what "they" were going to do

Now though, Tai will be in Jason's sights. Julia also wanted to get rid of Tai earlier. Tai also seems pretty likeable. I wouldn't want to go against him w/ the jury so the other members will probably be targeting him soon, for sure to at least flush out the idol they know he has.

If I were thinking about going before the jury the people I'd want to sit beside would be Joe (hasn't really done anything) and maybe Jason (ticked people off). I think the biggest threats to win could be Aubry & Tai. Julia has at least made a few moves. Michele hasn't done much. Cydney in a way hasn't seemed to do much, on the other hand she did leave her Scot/Jason alliance and might be perceived as somewhat of a leader, hard to tell ..

I was sorry to see Jason go this week. Love him or hate him, he was at least a large personality that shaped the game and made things interesting.

Yeah, strange as it is to say, considering how much I hated him earlier in the season, I was hoping Jason would outlast Michele. She's the last really boring person left.

I want Joe gone.

He's been nothing but someone else's lapdog this whole season.

Which is the main reason he'll make the final three. And lose.

Yeah, I also want Joe gone - former FBI agent cannot even spell 'immunity!' - he contributes absolutely nothing.

And I do not like that weird little guy Tye - he is just creepy.
And I also don't like Sydney, although I admire here individualism and is taking some risks by not forming a really strong alliance.

Joe who?

Sad to see a good season end with such an underwhelming winner. This was pretty clearly a case of Scott and Jason being ******** that they lost so voting for the person most insulated from that.
