One of the things that I loved about this show was how Jack Murdock really loved his son. Although it is ambiguous on whether he didn't throw the boxing match for himself or for Matt, but...

...the men who are responsible for his death are still out there. I don't know how this goes in the comics (I'm guessing Jack's fate was a little different) but I want to see Daredevil try to track down Sweeney and Silke and extract (some sort of) revenge for killing his father.

What do you think?

Revenge how? Part of season one was Matt learning that his role isn't to get revenge, it's to ensure justice. If you're talking about killing them, then definitely no.

However, it's a shame (due to Matt's age) that they didn't do the comics route, which had him chasing after the Fixer (the guy in charge) who, while running for his life, had a heart attack and died. There was a certain ambiguity about that.

Yeah I feel like if they were gonna do anything about that, they would have already done it in season 1.

Part of what I meant with "sort of" was, I dunno, beating the ish out of them or something. I don't see how they can't pull it off.

Its gonna be lame in my opinion if they don't.

I've got no reason to believe they're deceased. Even the Rigoletto character was mentioned in the present narrative

I guess Matt could've already dealt with them before the show started. But I wouldn't mind seeing something like that in season 2.

yeah, that's the exact thought I was having as I came to post again. The child actor who played matt might be a couple of years older so I wouldn't mind seeing a flash back of the sort.

I doubt it'll happen though :\

But we did see the first time Matt took the law in his own hands in a flashback, and then he was already an adult. So if we're gonna see Matt do something to the people who killed his dad, it would be Cox who would play Matt. But, yeah, I also doubt we're gonna see anything.

I wouldn't mind if they never explored it. The death of his father, while important to his character, isn't the driving force for his vigilantism. At least in the show. It's not like he swore to dedicate his life to fighting crime when his father died. In fact just the opposite, he decides to live for his father by using his brains to make a life for himself. It wasn't until his powers, which allowed him to hear everyone around him, heard something so awful he just couldn't take it anymore and stand idly by. So I don't think it's necessary to ever address it or even insert it into a flashback.

That being said I wouldn't mind Matt coming across them, discovering they were the ones responsible, and being faced with the decision of what to do.

It would be interesting if Punisher found out that Matt was Daredevil, tracked down his father's killers, and gave them to Matt. Then Punisher would tempt Matt to kill them and come over to Punisher's murderous ways.

:hmm

Ahaha, I got you. I thought it could've been "Hmm, are you drunk?". :cwink:
lol yeah, but it wasn't here. i think that could be an interesting way to take it.

but as others have suggested, i doubt they are gonna do anything with teh sweeney and silke storyline at all. it'd be a neat fan service if they did though.

That's a really interesting idea.

holy moley, spoilers for season 2 [BLACKOUT]you're kinda half right. this basically happened, but it was elektra that did it, not punisher[/BLACKOUT]

Haha, I saw that! I really didn't think that was gonna happen, but it was really cool. :woot:
yep, so good call.

Now, Sweeney is still alive, so this could be the end of him, or we could see him go up face to face against Daredevil one last time...he didn't look like he gave him all his rage anyway

Can I say... I really disliked the way the actor that played Sweeney did the role. It's fine for Vincent to chew scenery from time to time as Fisk, but that's just it... He does it from time to time and it adds that over the top spice. With Sweeney... He was always over the top, more a caricature of a racketeer than a real person. It far from ruins anything but with his acting and [BLACKOUT]the way the beating that Matt gives him was executed[/BLACKOUT], it all came off more awkward than it should have. That's just me though.

Yeah man I definitely agree with you there. The scene wasn't handled or executed as well as it could have, but i am glad that they at least included it.

And Sweeney is still alive...he may have a role to play yet.

I could see them incorporating Sweeney into the Kingpin's putting the pieces together about Matt.
