SyFy's Dominion

I gave the show another try...and I actually like it now. haha
gaaah please don't cancel

I guess I'm the odd one out. I couldn't finish watching it, it was so boring to me. Maybe I'll give it a try another time.

Nope, not the only one. I couldn't make it through and tried to rewatch it later in the week, and it's a no go. It is boring and I thought it was predictable, which is a shame, I was kinda excited about it.

I enjoyed the first ep. Looking forward to seeing how the season unfolds.

Good! There's a thread for this show. I really like it. I didn't even realize it was connected to the movie Legion until the second episode. I like both Gabriel and Michael. I hope we get to meet some more ark angels eventually, and after the last episode it looks like we'll find out more about them.

I'm certain the other two archangels are going to play a big role as the series goes on. I'm loving how the mythology is being rolled out.

You know what...I never saw Legion. Is it very connected to the show?

Yes, the whole premise picks up 25 years from where the movie ended. The character Jeep was played by Lucas Black, the guy from F&F Tokyo Drift and that new NCIS: New Orleans.

Yes, but Dominion has retconned some stuff. At this point, it feels more like Legion is an inspiration more than the actual starting point.

Hey X-Ray! I'd like to ask a mod to change the title of this thread, but I don't want to step on your toes.

What stuff have they retconned?

The real big one is the whole basis of the war/extermination. In Legion, God ordered the angels to destroy mankind. In Dominion, Gabriel started the war because he thinks mankind's wickedness drove God away. Now, this doesn't invalidate the whole movie, but it does change things a bit. It changes a lot of the motivations, and it takes a bit away from Michael trying to protect the unborn child. There is also the bit of weirdness of how Michael was revived if God wasn't in the picture anymore, but I think they might cover that weird issue.

Now, I'm a fan of how Dominion has set it up. It helps that I've been a fan of the concept since The Prophecy. I think it opens up some fun stuff, as we are already seeing with the higher angels joining Gabriel and the refugees in Vega. It just really changes how you view Legion.

There are also some really minor stuff, that I think is easily explained, like them stating that Alex is Jeeps son.

You didn't watch Legion.

Brb

Granted, it has been a while since I've watched Legion, but I am fairly certain the premise was that the angels were doing another flood type event because God was not happy with humanity. Gabriel was upset because Michael rebelled. And that part of the point of Michael's resurrection was that he restored God's faith in humanity.

Well, I recently rewatched Legion and Michael says god lost faith in humanity and that's what sets up the war, but from how I took it god was testing the angels and mankind. It's all kind of ambiguous because Michael came to earth to protect the unborn child, and all the possessed were trying to kill her because the child was the savior. Lol...the plot never really made a lot sense to begin with, but I don't think they really retconned anything. With the exception that angel wings retract. In the movie Michael cut his off, but they were restored at the end.

I like Gabriel as a villain; it's cool imaging that this is the same angel that delivered the news to Mary that she would give birth to Christ.

Curious to see how Michael pulls through…...

So who do you think saved Michael? Also interesting to see Uriel is a girl.

^ I think Uriel did. not sure why she left the blade behind for Michael's gf to pick up and experiment with.

interesting twist with the General's eight-ball lover being his wife. she must have been possessed by a baby angel or some weakling to be able to remain herself somewhat.

That was really surprising when it was revealed.

I like Uriel. She's crazy. I can't wait to see Raphael.

The twist with Riesen's wife is interesting. Just wish they didn't reveal it in the preview. Also, Whele's past with the initial angel attack was creepy. I can see why the family is all twisted.

There is a bunch of angel mythology they can pull from. I'd like to see them dive into the Epoch with the nephillum. Im also wondering where the h-e-double hockey sticks is Lucifer on all this?

Yeah, that is a big reason why I'm sticking with it. The mythology is just great. Sort of sad they only went with 4 Archangels, but so far, I haven't been disappointed in the three we've shown. And I think Michael really, really hinted at nephilim in the pilot.

I'm not so sure. It could be her, but I don't think it is. Also that is an interesting twist with the general. I'm confused about how possessions work. In the movie, the angels had full control and the ability to act like their human host. I guess we'll find out more soon.

Exactly. There was no mention of Lucifer in the movie, but he should at least be mentioned on the show. I am also hoping we get into nephillum. They hinted at it early on, so we should at least meet one half angel/half human.

Nice revelation that Walker (the chick who works with Alex) as being an angel…also Michael's back story is intriguing.

Cool finale.

Is it green lit for a season 2.
