Taika Waititi is Korg in Thor Ragnarok!

Does Korg have the "war paint" ?
Yes but not in his face or body apparently. You could see that he has it in his clothes like Thor too. On that circular golden metal thing in his chest. There's red there, in his belt and pants. As predicted it's apparently the color of the gladiators.

Very true!

Wow, thanks. Did you see the clip?
I did. The scene was short, mainly exposition, with a few jokes here and there. Korg seems like a cool character. He talked about the gladiator battle system in Sakaar while Thor tried to go around the circular prison cell, but he reappeared at the same place he left, like he was in some kind of infinite loop.

Is there a detailed description anywhere?

I was there and will give you a description.

After meeting The Grandmaster, Thor is thrown into a circular type of prison. There he meets the soft-spoken Korg. He tries to introduce himself to Thor and explain what's going on. Korg talks about how he tried to form a resistance once to free the prisoners, but he wasn't able to print out his leaflets. Thor looks for ways to escape. The prison cell they are in doesn't go around in a complete circle, but Thor tries to run through it and just ends up on the other side. Korg explains how the prison is circular or some such.

Korg then tries to persuade Thor to join his resistance group. Thor talks about how he's been called a contender. Korg talks about how he's now a contender for the Grandmaster's champion and how Korg is smart enough not to fight the champion. Thor makes note of Korg's rocky skin, and then Korg talks about how he's still not tough enough, and a piece of his rock skin falls out of his body and he's just like, "Oh there goes one now." Thor says he plans to fight and win in order to gain his freedom.

I have a question for both of you, does Korg express his opinion on how he think Thor will do against the "champion" or in the arena in general? Does he know Thor is an Asgardian or what an Asgardian is?

Most importantly can you tell me Korg's actual explantion of Sakaar's gladiator battle system?

Nice! So does Korg walk with Thor when they are walking?

Sorry, can't remember all the details. It was too much information all at once. It seems like they just met in that scene, so I don't think Korg knows who Thor is. The exposition is very brief.

There was actually another scene before that. Thor is strapped to a moving chair in some kind of dark room. Then the environment starts to change. A lot o bright lights, saturated colors, very psychedelic. Kinda like that sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey but with a Doctor Strange feel. Thor is confused, while a voice explains to him where he is, what he is about to do, etc. Then he realizes he was in the center of the Grandmaster's throne room the whole time. Jeff Goldblum is there, staring at him. To his left is Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and to his right is Topaz (Rachel House). Many guards wearing Jack Kirby style armor are there as well. Thor tries to escape, he even breaks one of cuffs, but is neutralized by the Grandmaster, who looks intrigued. That's pretty much it.

Yes, for a while, then Thor starts to run around the cell, trying to figure out an exit.

These are the sort of simple things that you need, I think a lot of the time Thor's power showing has been too subtle. Just having him break something that clearly shouldn't be broken is enough to show his strength.

I couldn't agree more. I always thought that MCU's Thor was kinda weak compared to the comics, but all the characters in this movie seem to be overpowered (but in a good way).

He just stands there, waiting for Thor to complete the run. He's got a very calm and friendly personality. I'm sure they'll bond pretty fast.

You have been so very helpful and I can't thank you enough!

Wow sounds awesome!

I'm definitely glad to hear that even The Grandmaster is intrigued by Thor's power. I'm betting this is the scene from the trailer where Grandmaster says "He's a fighter".

Exactly, maybe in addition to Thor's lightning mode we also get a few good strength showings in this film. We're certainly going to get some during Thor's fight with Hulk and in the final battle when he powers up and confronts Hela with ZERO weapons.

Also there's room for cool things to happen on Sakaar during the big escape and afterwards while they travel the cosmos. :thor:

Not really. It comes off like he wants Thor to join his resistance movement. Thor is not really paying much attention to him and is more focused on looking for a way to escape while Korg is talking.

Korg doesn't go much into the battle system. The talk about Thor being a contender for Grandmaster's champion. Korg says he wouldn't fight the champion. Thor mentions he plans on fighting and getting his freedom.

Oh ok, how cool is the shot of Thor breaking the cuff and Grandmaster neutralizing him?

I wouldn't say it's especially cool. It's not a big dramatic show of strength by Thor. He tries to break free, and Grandmaster easily shocks him into submission. It's slightly humorous and comedic. While he's being shocked he's telling Valkyrie that she will pay for her actions. There was an undertone of humor and mirth to the scene with Thor and Grandmaster.

Grandmaster's head guard (Rachel House) throughout the scene clearly hates Valkyrie and dislikes how much Grandmaster favors her.

Oh alright then, I guess Grandmaster is more forceful than the Collector.

He sounds pretty powerful as well.

To those that were at comic-con I have a question. Do you think Korg and Hulk will ever meet? It would be a nice touch from the comic.

Rachel House said that The Grandmaster doesn't need a bodyguard. He has a "fantastic whip" and apparently if he it's you with it "you're gone". So i am guessing he is no joke in termos of his power level.

Well from the trailer we know Korg will have at least 1 fight in the arena, and the talking scene with Thor so that's 2 scenes. I hope Hulk and Thor end up freeing him. Korg deserves his freedom.

Korg is not in the arena.

That's not inside the arena.
Oh and by the way don't know if you noticed but Miek and Loki are fighting by his side.

I read somewhere he fights before the main event, he just doesn't fight the champion (Hulk) because he knows he will lose.

Maybe. But that scene is not in the arena. I just now found out where that scene really is by looking at the another similar scene. It's in [BLACKOUT]Asgard you can actually tell by small details in the background. It looks like a big spaceship from Sakaar most likely arrives on the rainbow bridge. So Korg and Miek are in Asgard fighting Hela minions.[/BLACKOUT]
