Talk Shows Return!

Yea, but who would be dumb enough to turn down the Tonight Show?

COME ON!

Let me hate Leno.... please? :csad:

But to try and see it another way, what if your friend was talking about this big break he wanted and all that jazz.... only to have you get it and gladly accept it. Would he really be all that wrong to be pissed at you for a loooooong time?

And who else is waiting for Chapelle on Conan next week?!?!?!?!?

Hopefully Conan keeps the beard when he comes back and his "feud" with Colbert continues.

If Conan will be in reruns next week but Colbert is still new, then Colbert will continue ripping into Conan all next week. Poor Conan won't get a chance to defend himself until he comes back.

Johnny Carson did appear on the Late Show twice I believe after he retired but as brief cameos (once one Dave was in LA) and one he didn't even speak.

You guys may have watched the Late Shift movie, but I recommend the Late Shift book. It goes into more details about Carson, Leno, Letterman and Conan.

Yea, I never read the book. It's one of those books that I never got around to reading. But I did see the movie.

damn. he bought a $10.5 million mansion? It sounds sweet.

Conan doesnt seem to be as funny without his writers which is suprisingly dissapointing to me. His ad-lib game is on point but for a guy who was a writer on SNL and the Simpson's in the early 90's, he really is running on fumes. Dont get me wrong, he's still good but it shows sometimes where the laughs were really coming from.

Jay, on the other hand while still not that good, is nevertheless slightly (and I do stress the world slightly) more amusing than he was before. The good thing about it is, its putting him in a position where he has to step up. Remember, this dude use to be kinda funny back in his comedy circuit days...

I think Conan has been pretty hilarious. But you have to consider that he hasn't been writing anything in respect for his writers. He hasn't been doing his usual monologue and hasn't done a single sketch. Everything he's been doing are things that do not require any writing (ring spinning, singing, light shows).

That's my point, he should be writing even if its small stuff, the diary "sketch" was just bad. What was the point? People dont obsess with you that much. Dude's gonna have to milk that Chuck Norris thing for a while (and it aint that funny no more.....Well just a bit). I mean Jay is doing some writing under pressure that he is sometimes the least popular of the talk show hosts in small hipster circles and for some reason has the most animosty to him by the writers ( although I think that's just hearsay talk from bloggers who never liked him to begin with) and the big chin hack is actually funny now....who would have thought it?

Again, I disagree completely. I've been enjoying Conan more than usual lately. A lot of things I'm going to miss when his writers come back (the way he does his monologues now are so much better than before).

Jay is just terrible. He was terrible with the writers and he's probably just as terrible without them. The writers don't make a difference, IMO when it comes to Jay. But I believe Conan has gotten better since the writers strike. I love his ad lib and all the crazy things he's doing to pass the time. And this whole mock feud with Colbert is hilarious. I thought his diary thing was great. I guess you have to have similar humor in order to get him. I know some people who don't get Conan's jokes but prefer Leno or Letterman (who I think are boring) over Conan.
