51 SECONDS! lol that was probably the stupidest thing that physics professors has ever been involved in, he looked like he was thinking "why am I here", as Conan goes nuts and the dancers are dancin behind him lol.

If Conan doesn't stay like this, I will go insane

HAHAHA!

I don't have cable, so I've basically resorted to watching Youtube clips from this show whenever I find them (quite ironic, given the reason of why the strike is even happening, no?), and I just came across a clip from Jan. 28th that I didn't see mentioned yet:

Conan the Director

Awesome! :D

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Someone needs to make that camera shot an animated gif for this board. :) It'd make a nice replacement to the Vader "Nooooo!" pic that's been overused.

Yeah he did that 2 days in a row I believe, it was really good.

Well it looks like we get at least 2 more writer-less Conan and Colbert shows.

It's gonna feel really weird going back to having the writers on these shows. Colbert's show, for one, kind of evolved into a straight-up interview show. I'm gonna miss seeing Stephen interact with 2 or even 3 guests every night. I'm gonna miss Conan's weird, off-the-cuff humor, too.

Ferguson wants Jon Stewart to replace Letterman

Awwww, isn't it nice when one late night host gives a compliment to another?

Late, Late Show host Craig Ferguson says that he would like to see Jon Stewart take over for David Letterman if and when Letterman retires. Letterman's current contract with CBS is up in 2010, which just happens to be the same time that Stewart's contract is up with The Daily Show and Comedy Central.

But that's not the most interesting part of this interview with Ferguson over at Broadcasting and Cable. Ferguson hints strongly that if Letterman stays, he'll stay, but if Letterman does indeed retire, he'll probably retire too. And he really doesn't have an interest in the 11:35 slot (Ferguson has already said he might leave CBS when his six year contract is up).

As I've said here before, it would be great to see Jon Stewart take over for Letterman. Sure, he's had crazy success with The Daily Show and has become sort of an icon in that role and has probably been influential in some way, but as he has said a thousand times in interviews, success doesn't last forever in this business, and he might see the timing of the late night shake up (Leno leaving NBC in 2009, Conan taking over for him, Letterman and Ferguson possibly leaving in 2010) as a way to move on to the next thing in his career. Plus, he looks up to Letterman and would probably like to be part of that family again.

Maybe if Letterman retires, Stewart can get the 11:35 slot and Colbert can come over too and get the 12:35 slot? That would be an interesting shift in the late night network talk show landscape.

Ferguson seems like he wants to go out on top. It took Conan and Kilborn much longer to find their groove then Ferguson. But it would be great to have Stewart host the LS and Colbert LLS.

It's amazing that in a year ot two we'll have a brand new generation of talk show hosts. I still remember how weird it was, in the news department, going from Brokaw-Ratner-Jennings to Williams-Couric-Gibson. But...its gonna be great watching Conan on the Tonight Show.

As for the Jon Stewart thing...him taking over for Letterman has been the rumors for many years. Viacom may offer him the right price, but somehow I doubt he'll do it otherwise. For starters he already did the talk show thing back during his MTV days. Secondly, he'll lose a lot of freedom on network television. Cable (or Comedy Central) has spoiled him, so he may be reluctant to give up the freedom.

But we'll see what happens.
