Remember when the point of animation was to do stories you could never do in live-action? Pixar made a point of this.

Should Disney just skip the animated movies at this point and go straight to the live-action remake with the speed they’re throwing these things out now?

I still maintain traditional hand drawn animation is still superior to CGI in this respect. Frozen's musical numbers could have been even more amazing in hand-drawn animation.

After Cinderella, Maleficent, Mulan, Snow White and Moana, there is simply no excuse anymore.

You know, at this rate, they’re going to reached the point where they’ve run out of Disney animated films in their catalog to remake and start remaking Pixar films.

Look forward to remakes of the original Toy Story, A Bug’s Life and Inside Out and many more uncanny, realistic abominations in all their CGI glory.

As much as I don’t want this movie to happen, switch out Sydney for Angourie Rice and I might reconsider. Maybe. Slightly.

If they actually did that, I would take back some of what I said about them, but in the time we’re in right now, where a corrupt politician masquerading as a righteous follower of Christ was just voted into power, I’m not sure if Disney would have the balls to make something like that.

But, then again, we did just have someone recently shoot a healthcare CEO in broad daylight and a lot of people seem to be on board with him, and if this keeps up, we could be headed for another French Revolution type of scenario where the lower and middle-class finally have had enough and decide to depose and do away with the rich upper class.

I’d give it a 50/50 chance.

The animated film was originally called as Rapunzel. But they gave this "excuse" which led to a different title. But we aren't in 2010 anymore, not to embrace the name as a movie title. The movie isn't going to underperform with the title. Everyone who is aware of Tangled, know it stars Rapunzel anyway.

Its a style issue with Disney's CG. Look at Spiderverse. CG is not nearly as limited as you think. And there are things you can do with CG that you can't in hand drawn. I worry Wish may put them off from the Paperman tech.

Anyway, I thought when they fired the guy who started this, that we would be done with them, but guess not.

Enough with the live action remakes, Disney!

At this rate, they are already targetting the 2010s movies and they are simply gonna run out of options eventually and do the traditional sequel/prequel/spin off route (Mufasa, Maleficent 2), especially when future movies (that aren't sequels) from WDAS, don't make a huge impression at the box office. Wish and Strange World are definitely not going to get a remake. Big Hero 6, Wreck It Ralph and Zootopia - maybe in the 2030s/2040s. Frozen and Encanto, sure but its not a large collection of films to remake, unlike in the previous decade.

I would be surprised if they eventually remake The Princess and the Frog and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Anyway, we all knew a live action Tangled was coming. I would have thought that they'd have wanted to give the remaining older pre-2000 2D animated movies the live action treatment but I think the only major ones left of those that aren't actively in the works are Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas and Tarzan.

Not unless they get really desperate but yeah, that one's probably a no go. Hunchback, while a darker movie, is much more of a possibility that could be great if done right. Audiences would probably go for a Tarzan remake because that's a 90's kid favorite but I think there might be a rights issue with the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate. I could be wrong but Disney has barely done anything with that property in over 20 years so that could be a factor.
