Tarzan

Me too.
I have been waiting awhile for Hollywood to get Tarzan right again.
I hope this is it.

I'm still interested in this movie too, but the marketing has been poor. This will probably be another underperformer or flop for WB.

It feels like another Pacific Rim situation, where they don't want to spend the money on advertising for something that is likely to not do well. The first trailer was great though, and caught interest that the movie didn't have beforehand.

The marketing is slowly building, they still have roughly 3 more weeks. I saw a couple commercials during the NBA Finals.

I already said that I think it's going to tank but it looks good to me so I'll probably see it, even if reviews aren't great.

Right now I can't even think of another movie where it'll more than likely be constantly sold out this summer except for maybe Dory. MAYBE Independence Day.

Doesn't look even remotely interesting. Even Robbins doesn't save it.

But if Batman was in it you'll be all "OMG I NEEDS TO SEE THIS!" :o

Why has marketing been poor?

Because there seems to be almost zero awareness. And now that the marketing has started, they got three weeks left to create it and it's just not enough time for something like this.

I really don't like the trailer. I groaned every time it showed up in theaters. So generic.

LONG before Margot Robbie could read, let alone act, it was clear she was going to stand out from the crowd. As a toddler, she had a mind of her own and an unusually gregarious personality.

According to Robbie herself, her mother would often say: “You were the most fiercely independent toddler I’ve ever seen. I could barely put a nappy on you as you had to do everything yourself!”

That feisty spirit is in evidence as I chat to the 25-year-old in a cream and peach suite at The Beverly Hills Hotel, where we are meeting to discuss her latest film, The Legend Of Tarzan. All smiles and enthusiasm, Robbie bounds over to the sofa, leaps onto the cushions and wraps her arms around her knees.

From Neighbours to Tarzan, Margot Robbie refuses to be typecast

I actually like the fact that we get to see the pulpy Tarzan with ancient civilisations and hopefully magic and ****. I think it will at most be decent but from the trailers it will most likely not be anything special.

Does this film really need to be on IMAX?

I'm gonna see it in IMAX, I'm really excited for it. If you mean Tarzan is taking away giant IMAX screens from The Big Friendly Giant, with that I would agree that BFG makes more sense. I read the first book a couple years ago and loved it, this film seems to be of a very similar tone so I'm pumped to see it a couple of times.

I dunno, just doesn't seem to be a movie that screams like it needs to be IMAX experience. Star Wars and Civil War were at least partially shot with IMAX cameras. Dark Knight movies and Interstellar and all that were partially shot with IMAX cameras. IMAX was the ideal format.
