Taylor Swift

I have to say... I'm not a fan of Taylor but I absolutely love that Shake it Off song (and the accompanying video).

Oh and... I could watch this gif all day:

I'm not crazy about her persona but she would get it.

I really really hate "Shake It Off" with every fiber of my being. Not only is it removing Taylor of her identity and allowing her to make her write the most embarrassing and pathetic lyrics of her career (a challenge I know, even as a fan) it just seems just so... derivative. I don't call many things bad and while it is catchy, at least I can appreciate previous infectious earworms without being so angry such as "Call Me Maybe" and "Problem". This is just so.... bad to the point it transcends how bad it actually is.

cover better than the original :woot:

i actually thought that was the point? to call out all the insults to her and to just let everyone know she doesn't care

fwiw, i watch the voice, and she was the guest help last week. she had some great feedback and suggestions for the contestants

Remember when country artists didn't have to make pop albums to chart in the mainstream music industry?

she still would chart, whether she made a pop album or a country album. her country albums have charted in the past

I'm a big fan of Taylor Swift since I have heard a love story from fearless album. And I'll also love this song too.!

I wouldn't call myself a Swifty, (or whatever it is) but I do like her and her music. I think she's a great role model for girls/women. I love "Shake It Off," it's catchy and the video is hilarious. For me it's about being comfortable with who you are and not worrying about whether or not people like you, just focus on what you're doing and not what others are doing. She's also AMAZING to her fans, it's comes across as being very grateful for all that she has.

yeah i agree with you kale. i just read recently that the proceeds of her song New York are going to the New York Public School Systems, which is amazing. she definitely uses her celebrity to give back

And oddly enough money will not be going to any schools in New York that need it, just the City. It ticks me off that when I say I'm from New York everyone thinks of the City. Any aid always goes to the City while we up North have to raise our own funds for anything for our schools. People always forget that the City is just a small chunk of this state and that there are other towns, especially small towns that really need the help more than the City.

Haha, I think this is a fun tune. What is Taylor Swift's background btw? I don't know (from UK). I get the impression she' s regarded as cheesy like boybands are here?

she's a young country artist who has crossed over into pop
writes all her own music

she catches a lot of flack for using her life experience in her songs, particularly her break ups. which i find kinda odd because most of the great songwriters do that.
she knows how to have fun and rolls with all the jokes everyone makes about her.
if the worst things the papparazzi can go at her for is her dating life, then that's better than most celebs. we don't see pics of her drunk or drugged out falling out of clubs, nor half naked outfits every day.
plus she does a lot of charity work and gives back, which i respect.

she's not the best vocally out there, and as someone who worked some Rascal Flatts gigs when she was an unknown opening for them, I can say that. but then again, there are far worse sounding people topping the charts these days.
lyrically, she does write some great stuff though. btw, Blank Space is catchy as heck!

Thanks. I'll try that one. What was her country stuff like?

some good some bad lol it all depends on what you're in the mood for.

if you want something upbeat, maybe "our song" "22", "never getting back together", "mean", "picture to burn"

more melancholy, or mellow, maybe "back to december", "tim mcgraw", "dear john", "never grow up" etc

Cool, will give them a try.
