ok...so im planning to go into preproduction for an animated music video that would feature animated and alternate scenes of the Dark Knight Joker, inspired by The Gotham Knight animations. I'm guessing it would be completed about a year from now, depending on how life treats me heh. anyway, the first step is picking what song to use. the entire animation would be worked around the music. im open to suggestions. my first 2 choices that came to my mind was Forsaken by Disturbed and The Beginning of The End of the Beginning by Smashing Pumpkins. however i'd really rather have more songs to consider from. im hoping for a song that not only would sound good on an AMV, but also has lyrics that would go with the dark knight's joker in some way. im gonna take my time with choosing a song since thats a pretty integral part.

if you do suggest a song, please also link to either its music video and/or lyrics. i will also consider instrumentals or original music.

EDIT: Music suggestions no longer needed, I'm currently working with the possibility of having some TDK soundtrack songs tailor-made for the animation, which might be end up being more like a trailer instead of an AMV.

Magnum - Lords Of Chaos
Wolf Mother- the Joker and the Thief

Nightwish- The Poet and The Pendulum

Song

I know it's a long song, but I think most of the lyrics relate to TDK and it's an extremely epic song. :woot:

The Miracles - Tracks of my Tears

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MGP6vFMdE8

People say I'm the life of the party
Because I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
I need you, need you
Since you left me if you see me with another girl
Seeming like I'm having fun
Although she may be cute
She's just a substitute
Because you're the permanent one..
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..
I need you, need you
Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading
Just a clown oh yeah
Since you put me down
My smile is my make up
I wear since my break up with you..
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

The Used - Bird and The Worm

has a clowny like sound

I'm really looking forward to this. Your gotham knight style Joker screenshot i saw in another thread is absolutely spot on to the look of the film and brilliant.

Truthfully, I think a nice mash up of Why So Serious? could work wonders.

Is Why so Serious the name of the joker theme in the movie? I have been meaning to pick up the soundtrack. If thats what your refering to then i think that yes that theme should definately be involved here.

yea, its the very first song that plays in the movie

Yes, that is what I'm referring to. I think it would work great in a music video.

like a remix? that would b sweet. there prolly would be some fan made ones in the future.

Yeah sorta. Maybe not entirely a remix, but mixed enough that you could match video to it. Basically, rearranging it so that it doesn't play out exactly like it does on the score.

I recently used it for a 30 second TV spot (as well as some other melodies from the TDK score). Here's an example of how I just reworked certain parts of it to make it work when combined with video:

And I definitely think, regardless of whether you choose to use WSS? or not, that you should use the "electric buzz" that Joker has, as either an intro or conclusion to your video.

I'd be willing to make a mix of WSS? for your vid, however, I'd like to know what exactly I'm mixing it for (I think it'd be kind of difficult for me to come up with a mix, without knowing how the video is going to play out - in a general sense of course).

Depends on whom is the focus of the video. If you're doing a Joker-focused video, my first suggestion would be "Coming Undone" by Korn -- basically about a man on the edge of losing his mind. Actually -- it might be perfect for Batman or Dent as well ...

Coming Undone lyrics

Keep holding on
When my brain's tickin' like a bomb
Guess the black thoughts have come Again to get me
Sweet bitter words
Unlike nothing I have heard
Sing along mocking bird
You don't affect me

That's right
deliver it to my heart
Please strike
Be deliberate

[Chorus]
Wait
I'm coming undone
unlaced
I'm coming undone
Too late
I'm coming undone
One looks so strong
So delicate
Wait
I'm starting to suffocate
And soon I anticipate
I'm coming undone
One looks so strong
So delicate

Choke choke again
I thought my demons were my friends
Getting me in the end
They're out to get me
Since I was young
I've tasted sorrow on my tongue
And this sweet sugar gun
Does not protect me

That's right
Trigger between my eyes
Please strike
Make it quick now

[Chorus]

I'm trying to hold it together
Head is lighter than a feather
Looks like i'm not getting better
Not getting better

[Chorus]

Everything Evil - Coheed and Cambria

Here's the song:

Here's the lryics (3rd song down):

This song actually fits alot of The Joker scenes and can have some that reference Rachael's death.

For instance: "I'll stay when will only motivate sound instead Sergeant... Make for the table in hopes that I won't be afraid again." To me this would fit perfectly with the scene were Batman and Gordon are investigating the killing of those two guys in the apartment where they find Joker's next target. "Call and enable...and send the leader out against...I will." Could be Batman about to run over Joker on the Batpod. "Evolve Monstar show me the things I never wanted done." can refer to Joker or Two-Face. These are just a few examples.

all the the above bands mentioned for this are god-awful!

Never said my opinion was superior to anybodys, but I would not pick cornball radio rock crap for something like this.

The above animation pic is badass and I like it alot by the way.

thanx. but what WOULD you pick? i agree that most of the mentioned songs wouldn't work but i'm not sure i'd label them 'god-awful'.

I concur.

The OP said Smashing Pumpkins, thats the best choice so far.

Here I'll throw some thing, assuming its Fast paced.

Vagabond by the GreensKeepers

And Sinnerman Remix, I just like that song, its pretty cool.

Smashing Pumpkins is a very good band, but not to be mixed with Batman again, ( come on you guys dont remember SP's title track for Batman & Robin?).
