The Dark Knight TDK Joker AMV - Preproduction Stage 1

"Confusion" (New Order) - Techno Mix from the Blade album is a general good all-round action toon and maybe "A Prayer for the Unborn" by Gary Numan (Andy Gray Remix) is just incredible. "Down in a Hole" or "Junkhead" by Alice in Chains. "Hole" would work perfectly for either Batman or Joker in a real low moment. "Junkhead" may be a bit controversial but it describes a descent into madness quite well.

Or you could go for the absolute classics of classics, "Dead Souls" by Joy Division.

All these toons can be found on my Myspace profile at http://www.myspace.com/gothoid. All my favourite sounds are below the millions of photos of my hero the Joker.

Hope this helps and good luck. It looks amazing already :o)

xx

PRAYER FOR THE UNBORN
So, I prayed
But you weren't listening.
Making miracles?

So, I begged
But you were far away.
Saving souls perhaps?

So, I screamed
But she was very small
And you have worlds to mend

So, she died
And you were glorious
But you were somewhere else

If you are my shepherd
Then I'm lost and no-one can find me
If you are my saviour
Then I'm dead and no-one can help me
If you are my glory
Then I'm sick and no-one can cure me
If you light my darkness
Then I'm blind and no-one can see me

If you are my father
Then love lies abandoned and bleeding
If you are my comfort
Then nightmares are real and deceiving
If you are my answer
Then I must have asked the wrong question
I'd spit on your heaven
If I could find one to believe in

DEAD SOULS
Someone take these dreams away,
That point me to another day,
A duel of personalities,
That stretch all true realities.

That keep calling me,
They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me,
They keep calling me.

Where figures from the past stand tall,
And mocking voices ring the halls.
Imperialistic house of prayer,
Conquistadors who took their share.

That keep calling me,
They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me,
They keep calling me.

Calling me, calling me, calling me, calling me.

They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me,
They keep calling me,
They keep calling me.

Please. No crappy metal bands. :csad:

Just mix some stuff from the TDK soundtrack. Why so Serious would do wonders on this Joker animation. I'm just so sick of AMVs with "hair" bands. The Joker does not equal metal music. He transcends genres. I think Why so Serious perfectly captures the essence of the TDK Joker--there's no explaining it! It sounds like a knife ripping something/one to shreds. It's more like...noise rather than music.

All the dumb metal bands mentioned here (Korn, Disturbed) would not fit a Joker AMV. Defend how much you like them--I don't care--but frankly...they suck. The songs and bands here just seem so fanboyish and reflect the music taste of the person suggesting them, instead of fitting the animation itself.

I am looking forward to the animation of this and I don't want it ruined with "Coming Undone" playing in the background. :csad:

^Just like to note that I was the first to mention using WSS?

Aaaaa thank you. LOL j/k :funny:

I hate when people use metal bands for EVERY single Music Vid, its horrible.

Why don't you use Sympathy for the Devil?

Meh just mix the tracks. WSS? and Agent of Chaos.

Thanks for all the suggestions people.

I like the idea of using WSS. however, it's way too long, and the only music editing program i have is Audacity, which isn't exactly professional. I would love it if there was some kind of remix of the song, because the original is too quiet and slow for an AMV. remember, AMV's are made up of scenes cut from a 'movie', they are not an actual movie in themselves with their own plot. they are a compilation of a collage or usually important, memorable , and provocative scenes.

I'm also still very attached to the idea of using Smashing Pumpkin's Beggining of the End etc, because that's the song that inspired me to create an original Joker amv (i was immediately able to see it all play it in my head). so my preference would be a track with the same feel.

however, a theme song from the soundtrack would be more neutral. but the con is that it's not exactly AMV material as i stated before. its "background music" material, thats what it was created for afterall.

So in the end, so far, I think the choices are between the smashing pumpkins song (or something similar), OR a short (under 5 minute) remix of several tracks from the Dark Knight, such as WSS, I'm Not A Hero and Like A Dog Chasing Cars to name a couple good ones that could work.

Well whatever you decide to do the graphic you provided looks amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product :oldrazz:

As I told you before, mixing WSS? with a couple of tracks from the score could easily constitute for music video material. I'd gladly make a mix for you, however, as I stated on the last page, I'm not really sure what you need. When I mix music, I know what type of video I'm mixing it for and what shots I'm working with, so I can configre it accordingly. If I were to make you a sample mix, I'd need to know some general ideas or plans you had for the video, such as structure, order of shots, etc. etc.

alright, sounds good. i think we can continue the score talk over PM then since itll be just you and me for this part.

A lot of the static and junk (not that the track is junk!) from Why So Serious can be trimmed and the exciting screeching noises can be used in the video itself. The layers are pretty straightforward so it shouldn't be hard to splice and mix.

don't pick a crappy nu metal band??? do something we can all agree on...THE DARK KNIGHT SOUNDTRACK

Lyrical Gang Bang from Dr. Dre's Chronic album. That or some Barry Manilow.

Where is My Mind would actually be a great song if it wasn't already associated with fight club. But I do agree with the others that are suggesting the score.

practice.gif

so i got my tablet this afternoon (from HanaBi), and got to do a lil bit of practice. here's something that i produced REAL QUICK on photoshop with it. it is NOT a concept for the animation. its like a pre-test, so more like a prototype i guess. as u can see, part of the neck is missing. i need to learn how to have more control of the lines so they look less sketchy.

i dont really need critique because i already know wats wrong with it (it was rushed). i like the eyes tho.

i would actually take my time with the 'real' thing.

the next test, ill make sure its actually the joker in it.

pretty neat to see Godspeed you! black emperor and Joy Division suggested here. Some of you have great taste in music:up:

Anyways though i do think Joy Division would be a great match for a video showing the Joker. I would suggest either "Shadowplay" which has a pretty dark sound and messy kind of sound to it that reflects joker's persona pretty well. "Dead souls" was another really good recommendation. Whatever you pick though should really be an older song, like something post punk. It should reflect his personality.

Freakzter, i like what i'm seeing so far, keep it up dude

hope you can give us a sampling of the music you plan to be using.

"Make Me Bad" -Korn
"Here To Stay" -Korn
"Thoughtless" - Korn

"Just like you imagined" - N.I.N.
"Closer" - N.I.N.

"Chopsuey" - System Of A Down ("Grab a brush and put a little make-up" "...Father! Why Have you forsaken me?")

"The Last Remaining Light" -AudioSlave

"Why So Serious" -Hans Zimmer

NIN - Burn
Radiohead - Nude(seriously, it'd be creepy.......)
Mogwai - Hunter By A Freak
