Teen Titans: The Judas Contract is back on

if they ever do make a Titans live action film series, it would be nice if they planted the seeds of Judas contract ( Terra's betrayal ) throughout the films, instead of trying to cram it all into one.

so, maybe Terra betrays the team in film #2 or #3.

or maybe, such a story would be better suited for a tv series instead.

regardless, I just want a live action version of the Titans.

That's part of why the animated series' version of the judas Contract was better. They spent time developing Terra and made us like her. This version was unlikable from the beginning.

true. she was more of an anti-social grouch than Raven was.......lol.

that being said, I did feel for her in the end. :csad:

so, in the context of this film, I felt it worked.

but, yeah, they should have spent more time building her up with the team.

maybe she should have been on the team in the prior film. or perhaps, this 2nd film should have focused on another story ( with Terra on the team ). and then tackle Judas Contract in the next film.

another thing I liked about this film was that it felt very "adult" without having to show graphic violence or nudity.

There were references to sex ( between Kori and Dick ).

There was the obvious taboo relationship between Terra and Slade - though I think they handled it tastefully without having the two actually sleep together.

And if I recall, there were a few swear words, too.

It did all that without ever getting too raunchy or violent or graphic.

I knew about the TNT series, but I wasn't aware of the film plans.

hope it comes to fruition. because I agree, it has the potential to be a premier franchise.

of course, it must have Raven in it. No Raven, no interest. :o

Raven will definitely be in it. She was going to be on the TNT show and they even announced a tv show for her that never panned out, so WB clearly sees her potential. Not to mention that the Titans second greatest enemy is her father... you gotta include Raven

And yea there was the TNT series, and also a movie was announced around like 06 with Mark Verheiden as the writer, but that never happened.

Then Geoff Johns confirmed that there were plans to get the Titans into live action, tv or movies.

If they do this movie right, it'll be a huge hit. There are so many Titans fans out there to this day. I grew up watching the animated series, and now a whole new generation is growing up with the Titans Go series. This movie has the potential to resonate with a massive audience as long as they don't alienate their existing fans with unnecessary changes that the DCEU is known to make.

Back to this animated movie though... Nightwing was clearly the best part imo and this was definitely a high point for Nightwing in animation. Robin always gets the spotlight and Nightwing rarely gets to shine, but he really shined here.

Also did anyone get reminded of the Master of Games at the end of this movie with Brother Blood?

agreed. a Titans film ( or tv series ) franchise has so much potential if done right.

I was first introduced to the Titans ( and Raven ) through the animated show all those years ago. I remember flicking through the channels one day and coming across this cartoon with Robin in it and some other characters I didn't recognize. I was immediately interested in the mysterious, gothic chick with badass TK/dark energy powers. She looked so cool!

Naturally, Raven became my favorite character on the show and she's become one of my favorite DC characters. ( Of course, it helps that I like ravens and crows....lol )

And while I don't care for TT Go, I won't deny that it brings brand/character awareness to a younger generation of fans.

the other day, I was in my local cable store, and one of the tvs had Cartoon Network with TT Go on. And there were some little kids who walked into the store and immediately gravitated towards the tv with TT Go on - and they yelled "Teen Titans!!"

so, yeah, there is definitely brand awareness there for the Titans across a wide range of ages and generations.

I think it's clear that Raven and Robin are the two best characters in the normal Titans lineup. With those two comes so many story possibilities. It helps that each of them have a clearly defined nemesis in Deathstroke and Trigon respectively.

I have to say, I like the more negative and gothic Raven from the animated series. She was very lovable, because you knew underneath her gruff exterior, she's a softy. In general, that show had very natural character development. The team dynamic was so perfect, every character had a part to play. Ah it's time to watch that show again. It's up there with BTAS as some of the best superhero animation to come out.

^ would love if they brought back and continued the old animated Titans show. I loved the "anime influence" on the show - even though it was a "western" cartoon.

I wouldn't mind like an animated movie follow up to the animated series. Bring in Bart, Tim, Conner and Cassie and base it on Geoff Johns' "A Kid's Game"

so, maybe, have the original group older now ( with Dick as Nightwing and in a relationship with Star ) and then bring in a new, younger team for them to mentor?

Yeah exactly, I think that would be the best route for a continuation seeing as they already covered so much ground in the original series

I wouldn't mind that, as long as the original members still have a role on the show and aren't completely replaced by the younger group.

I just wouldn't have the same interest if the original members get phased out in favor of the newer characters.

So..
I Know what Jason Todd has been up too.

But where the hell is Tim Drake?

Is he just removed now?

Man it's pretty amazing DC basically uses these films as previews to future feature films.

Titans (No Teen) will be a great live action movie and I'll be there the opening Thursday night whenever it drops!

I finally saw the movie and I really enjoyed it! I loved how it showed how much the team has grown since the last movie! I enjoyed the focus they gave to Nightwing and Starfire and the character development we got with Blue Beetle and Terra. It was pretty cool to finally get Jaime's supporting cast in animated form as well as see such a creepy take on Brother Blood and his cult!

The action was top notch and voice acting was really good! The cameos we got from other Titans members makes me want more lol Can't wait for the next movie (hopefully next year)!

I couldn't handle how the dialogue was written, it was mostly for children ages 5 n up? But the cursing and sexual chemistry and plain old sexual requests from an adolescent to an adult on multiple occasions... I just don't get why some of DC Animation is so well put together while stuff like this comes out and belittles the entire industry with what seems like market targeted scripting.

The budget may have been shotty or something else may have caused this turn into the dark side of comic animation - I can understand why a studio would think that some of the relationships between the characters in the comics should appear in the animations but I believe animation is a chance at bringing a "refresh" to old faces we know and love. Idk it would've been better to create the idea of sexual tension and bad language like they've done tried and true in the past - with Beast Boy saying something that could be taken many different ways - young Robin being a jerk as always and bullying by saying some insulting remark - or by having the female roles dress in provocative sexy outfits... we don't need young girls to dress up in lingerie and seduce old men.

One nitpick I have is that I didn't like how they White washed Traci 13. In the comics she is Blue Beetle's main love interest and is of Chinese descent. She has dark eyes, dark hair and a skin tone similar to Jaime yet in the movie she looks White, has green eyes and red hair. She honestly looks more like Brenda (one of Jaime's BFF's) than Traci. I'm hoping they fix that in a sequel, assuming she'll appear again.

Overall I really enjoyed the movie but the above kind of bothered me.

The thing about Terra is that in the original comic, her sleeping with Deathstroke and deceiving the Titans was to show that, Not only is evil not always easy to detect but to show that she lacked any kind of moral compass...... Atleast when the storyline was originally done.

In this case it's moreso to present her as a more psychologically damaged and conflicted girl. It's one thing to show "adult" content in a pointlessly gratuitous way to just do it and another to use it in a way that add depth to a character

Most tend to expect these direct to video animations to have less than kid friendly content in some way because they are not aired on a Saturday morning timeslot but either way having cursing or sexy outfits for female characters aren't something that's inherently wrong.

There characters - some young girls do dress up in lingerie and seduce old men, it's twisted, this is why I appreciate DC at the same time, they ackknowledge these things happen, they show the incredible down side to these scenarios, and put them in a negative light. It's character depth at an unprecedented level, and I appreciate it.

I think it's cool that they went with Bumblebee as a founding member. Black women are seriously underrepresented in comics. I hope that DC realizes that they're underrepresenting a huge demographic that accounts for a big part of the fan base.

Pretty much this

Weird movie. If you're going to do a betrayal movie, why make the character so hatable before they end up betraying?

Starfire is...Starfire. Movie was my first exposure to her as team leader. I really liked it.

Agreed - but I think they were hoping to make her more relatable to Raven, they really needed a movie before this for her relationship building. Still enjoyable, but wish they had done one more teen titan before this with her on the team.

I find Starfire to be likeable in these movies, but not interesting.

Hopefully that would change if and when they do a movie based around Starfire and Blackfire because then they'd have to take cues from Tales of the New Teen Titans which explored her backstory.
