Hannover House, the entertainment distribution division of Target Development Group, Inc., has entered into a feature film development venture with Vancouver-based Red Bear Entertainment, for Terminator 3000, envisioned as a $70-million dollar budgeted, 3D animated feature film based on the characters and situations introduced in the original Terminator feature. Hannover House C.E.O. Eric Parkinson previously served as C.E.O. of Hemdale Home Video, Inc. and Hemdale Communications, Inc., and handled the distribution of the original Terminator feature.

Story details for Terminator 3000 are being kept under close wraps, but the writers and production team have a stated goal of minimizing violence in order to obtain a PG-13 level of material.

Hemdale produced and distributed director James Cameron's original Terminator feature, but released the sequel rights in 1990 to Carolco, which later transferred the rights to ultimately end up under the control of Halcyon Media. Santa Barbara based Pacificor, LLC prevailed in the most recent auction and transfer of rights to the franchise in January, and retains approval and licensing authority over the proposed Terminator 3000 project.

Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment will release details of the production timing, financing and principal production personnel later this year, in advance of a proposed January, 2011 start.

Hmmm...dunno about this. But we'll see.

$70 million for a 3D animated PG-13 Terminator film?

how the mighty hath fallen...

Why the **** do the keep trying to make Terminator a PG-13 franchise?

The reason why they made TS PG-13 failed horribly.....why not just make it R...****!

as Cenk from theYoungTurks likes to say "it's all about the money Lebowski!!!"

I agree. But at least I hope they make it a good story and make it look like the future war sequences from T2. But yea Terminator to me has fallen far.

^ actually, it was all about the toys. :hehe:

That's why TS was PG-13...to sell the action figures.

And look what happend with that.

This is the saddest thing I've read in a long time. Really?

The rating wasn't the reason why TS failed. The TV series did fine with a TV-14 rating. This could go either way, really.

T2 was R and it sold ALOT of toys back then. I would know, I owned all of them.:o

I don't know how I feel about this movie just yet. I think T3 pretty much killed the idea while TS tried to pay homage to Cameron.

But the TS toys didnt.

And no, the rating is not what made TS fail. A slight part of the moldy pie...

An animated movie smells like the last stop before obscurity for an adult sci-fi giant like Terminator.

Love that they are doing a Terminator CGI film. It's about time we got away from the stupid talking animal flicks....but PG-13...eh.

I've got a really bad feeling about this one. Worse than T3 and TS.

I'm all for animated Terminator, but not like this.... not like this. :csad:

It sounds like a 'cash in' and I've got a feeling like it's gonna be Terminator's very own "Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem". That movie took something that had quality and made it into a low-brow slasher flick; it took place in small town with teens! Even Alien 3 and Alien Rec didn't go that far.

This sounds atrocious. Why does Terminator need a 3D animated feature?

T1 and T2 are the only necessities. Everything after that is bunk.

This is what happens when banks take control of movie rights. If you think the studio system is bad, it's nothing compared to films being controlled by people who treat is as nothing more than the liquidation of assets. Look at what happened to The Thief and the Cobbler. :(

so i played the TS Arcade game at a theater the other night...oh how i wish the movie was like it.
