Tom and Jerry returning to the big screen....... IN LIVE ACTION/CGI movie!

I'm seriously surprised they went this route. Did not expect this look as good as it does.

Isn't Chloe Moretz wasted on something like this?
Sure, she brings some star power. But the quality of the film doesn't cange because of her

Not 100% on-board with this (then again, I don’t give much of a **** about these two to begin with) but I’m loving the animation and am not completely put off by the story, so...

Only compliment I can give is the animation. Everything else... ehhhhhhhhhh.

Honestly, anytime they take an animated property and decide to drop cartoon characters into the real world, we all know what we’re walking into. This looks... marginally better than I expected it would.

The worst thing about these types of movies is when they try super hard to be current and wise to the current “thing”. If we get out of this without Tom & Jerry dancing to WAP, we should take it as a win.

I enjoy animation but it's way too jarring to just assume that animated looking characters just exist alongside live-action people. I thought we were getting more of a cats and dogs thing when they were going to be more photorealistic looking.

I didn't see the leaked trailer and was pleasantly surprised by the fact they're actually going with the classic 2-D style. This doesn't look much better than the average cartoon/live hybrid, but it felt like a really poorly edited trailer. I am cautiously optimistic.

Decades later and I still hate Jerry..

But yeah this looks dumb and basic. Too many pop culture references, the animation looks cool but weird alongside live action. Not sure why they didn't just do full animation. But this is a kid's movie I'm not pressed.

Surprised how violent it looked. Obviously, the originals were very violent too but I thought they'd tone down the iron to the face, falling from buildings, etc. type stuff from the old cartoon

I definitely think this way is preferable to making the characters photo real, but it does beg the question... is this a Roger Rabbit-type world?

My theory is that Chloe ends up keeping them both and the stinger after the credits will be her buying a new bulldog named Spike.

The one thing I can say about this is that I prefer 2D animation rather than cartoon CGI blending with live action. Other than that I can't think many positive things to say. It doesn't look as horrible as other similar type of movies but it looks equally unnecessary.

Was this movie made recently? Chloe Grace Moretz doesn't look a day older than she did in Kick-Ass 2.

I like the hybrid they're going for, but... Tim Story? Eh...

Comments are turned off.

Oh, WB! You know too well.

This was also my thoughts after the trailer.

Surprised they kept it 2-d. But at least they still look like Tom & Jerry

Isn’t 2D most likely cheaper to do? Probably less an artistic choice and more a financial one.

Let's be honest, it's not going to be the worse Tom and Jerry movie ever as that honour belongs to the 1992 film. The issue with Tom and Jerry much like with the Looney Tunes is that they were never designed to sustain a feature length film which is why the DTVs always transplanted them in settings like The Wizard of Oz or Willy Wonka.

The animation is very good. It's actually CGI but they added cel shading to make the characters look traditionally animated.

I was wondering why they turned off the comments section but then i watched another recent trailer they posted and saw why lol Those Johnny Depp fans sure are persistent. Personally WB should have got rid of them both.

But anyway trailer looks good to me
