Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

Because of bad writing.

The prologue takes place in 1998, Carl doesn’t grow his conscious until a few months later. So all the other terminators would have to been sent back between 1999-2019.

Bad and dumb if supposedly the skynet future was ended because of T2's events and replaced by Legion.

Is the Rev-9, Legion's only terminator type?

So when did Carl come back in time? If he was sent back to 1992, what was he doing during the events of T2? And Skynet should have ceased to exist, if not when Dyson blew up Cyberdyne (and himself), then the moment the arm of the first Terminator, the chip, and the second T-800 burned up in the factory.

Time travel is a *****.

Terminator time travel rules seems to indicate that paradoxes just happen. The future can change, but those that wouldn't exist in that future, still exist in the present.

One of the fun things explored a little bit in SCC is that time travelers would begin to have different memories of the future. And god damn, now I miss SCC again. The Terminator universe is ripe for a mid sized budget series. Take the time to fully explore some of these quieter sci-fi concepts.

What bugs me about the idea that the future can change but the past cant idea is that I struggle with the idea that the future is ones present and the past is ones present so why can either change.

John Connor stood is standing in a room with Kyle Reese and put him in a time machine and then John..the same John that is standing in that room is conceived. Ugh time travel.

After this bombing horribly even more than any other film in the franchise, a tv series should definitely be considered if the franchise won't be retired. A new film won't be coming anytime soon anyway!

T3 - 2003

Sarah Connor Chronicles - 2008/2009( 2 seasons)

Salvation - 2009

Genisys - 2015

Dark Fate - 2019

Next one in 2029?(if somebody wants to coincide with T1's future)

Man please just gimme a future war movie. The real deal none of this Salvation or Legion crap.

Here is an idea I have been playing with. I have 2 different ideas, this one is a more recent one although both quite similar.

Production Logo

A somber doomy synth plays over shots of post nuke cities and burning forests *No action, no machines, no people just death.

Sarah narration

Sarah speaks about the judgment day attack and how the world was silent for years before Skynet rolled out the machines and that the worst was yet to come

LAS ANGELES 2000 Post JD appears over the top of a shot of a quiet, still nuclear wasteland.

We begin to see movement.

People are leaving their bunkers for the first time in years, they look sickly thin and unwell but still alive.

Their world is gone, the sky is dark and the remaining fires that still burn are the only source of light, there is a thick coat of Snow and ash covering everything.

The world is silent apart from the sounds of fire crackling and the occasional building collapsing in the distance.

No one knows what to do or how to possibly begin rebuilding their lives but they have hope.

The camera pulls up higher into the sky and let's us get a better look at all the destruction. Nothing is left standing...the camera begins to move around showing us more.. Suddenly the camera vision turns red and we are looking out the lens of a T13 Drone…. It's sensors pick up the people leaving their hatches...a count of survivors is displayed on the screen. The drone counts as many as 30 men, women and children.

TERMINATE appears on the screen and the drone in fast moments darts down towards a family.

The camera cuts to one of the surviving families scanning them, as they look out at the destruction. The drone hovers in front of them.. The family doesn't understand what's going on. The father attempts to wave at the strange hovering machine but his arm is blasted off. A second blast hits him in the chest instantly killing him.

The rest of the family are killed and the drone takes off to terminate the other survivors, the camera stays on the dead family as we hear in the background laser blasts and people screaming as they are shot down.

The camera cuts to an aerial shot from the drones perspective , it does one last scan of the area. 0 survivors flashes on the HUD.

We cut to a young man coming out of hiding and inspecting the dead family, he can see that the woman is holding something and rolls her over, the baby is still alive. He takes the baby out of her arms and runs back to his bunker.

The bunker hatch slams shut sending dust into the air. Through the dust we begin to see video of the history of human civilisation. The image becomes more clear. We are in the mind of Skynet learning about human history.

A moody synth song plays

The credits appear on screen over footage of SKYNET learning the history of man and ending with a nuke explosion engulfing the screen along with a burning human skull.

Credits and theme finish

TERMINATOR 2020: A SEASON IN HELL appears on the screen

2020 L.A appears on the screen.

At the height of the Future War in the year 2020 on the outskirts of the ruins of L.A, two young soldiers, are being briefed on a seemingly impossible mission to deliver a message which will warn of an ambush during one of the skirmishes soon after Skynet retreat.

The two recruits race against time, crossing enemy territory to deliver the warning and keep a resistance militia of 1,600 men and women, which includes Blake's own brother Kyle, from walking into a deadly trap.

The pair must give their all to accomplish their mission by surviving the war to end all wars. Along the way they encounter a war torn grizzled Sarah Connor who realises the importance of their mission and joins them. Sarah does not reveal her connection to Kyle in fear it might jeopardise their mission.

A TV series could give it more flexibility to play around with different concepts, could jump around more, even focusing on different characters and scenarios in the present and future. They could even make an anthology type of series.

It'll be sad if it ends like this. In terms of the movies, they need to stop with all the rebooting and maybe revisit it a long time from now. Either somehow bringing all the different elements together in a crazy way or just going back to the original source i.e. John Connor in a Future War movie, done properly. Also show Sarah in her final days before that. But it seems like it's in a mess now for something like that to even be seriously considered.

Just found Edward Furlong's Instagram.:yay:

I've enjoyed all John Connor actors and the character(except for getting turned into a terminator in Genisys)but something about the cameo/glimpse of future john in T2's opening scene has always stood out to me and really interestes me.

I'm fascinated by the future of the first two films and this actor has a unique presence about him despite not saying a word and only appearing for a couple of seconds walking and doing this

Plus john is only a teenager in T2/SC Chronicles and Dark Fate, Confused and scared young adult in T3 and an elite soldier with some command in Salvation but not what/who's he's supposed to be yet. He finally got to his destiny in Genisys..but then got ruined and screwed by Skynet

There was just a dark gritty desperate apocalyptic vision of the future in Cameron's first two films that was never really matched in my opinion.

Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese looked like he had been though hell. He looked like he hadn't slept, hadn't eaten and was suffering serious PTSD. Reese in Genisys looked like he never missed a gym appointment and was living comfortably in a robot and nuke ravaged future.

Agree 100%, the only Terminator film that has vaguely come close, was Salvation.

Jai Courtney just looked too damn clean in Genisys from start to finish, Michael Biehn, just from a pure look perspective looked a lot more scruffy, dirty & it further added to the illusion that the future wasn't a paradise even though we only saw a brief glimpse of it in the film.

At this point I think is time to put the franchise to sleep. They've done every possible iteration of the idea, from setting it on Judgment Day (T3), setting it in the future (Salvation), in between (Genisys) and even an alternate timeline (Dark Fate). None of them seemed to stick quite like the first two. There's nothing left to do.

The sad thing is I’m 100% certain we were all saying these exact same things four years ago after Genysis came out and here we are. Question, was Genysis financially profitable despite everything?

I agree but if/when the franchise continues, could a Jericho or Walking Dead type show work? Like center a show around survivors as the original judgement day happens in 1997 with the series finale having a time jump to 2029.

I would of course prefer a future war film or show set in the first two film's 2029 but I don't see it happening and so I guess the closest would be a show like I mentioned

For those who only like T1 and T2, would you say Sarah Connor Chronicles is worth watching?

It's a pretty good watch. Don't know if I go for every episode of both seasons but I say check out a few

Depends what you like about them. Personally, James Cameron’s cinematic direction has a lot to do with my love, so a low end action TV version doesn’t capture that for me.

They’re not necessarily calling what they review “garbage”. It’s the title of the show.

At this point, Claire Daines couldn't save it, Christian Bale couldn't save it, Emily Clarke couldn't save it, and Linda Hamilton couldn't save it. Creatively, I think the story is done, and its been done since the early 90s.

Sure, they could always make another sequel . Heck, they could make a Godfather part 4 or another Dirty Harry film with an 89 year old Clint Eastwood if they wished. You always can make a sequel or prequel to anything in theory. But at this point , the question is should you make a sequel.

Its now getting to the point where its starting to hurt their bottom line, which is their wallets. Their pocket books are gonna determine whether another Terminator film is worth it.
