Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

It was always a sci-fi action franchise. Marvel's Terminator: Genisys didn't work. They will surely try to create something different tone-wise.
:funny: That movie was so obviously an attempt to 'Marvel-ise' the Terminator franchise. I thought that as I was watching it, even before I knew the director had done Thor: The Dark World.

I don't think I've seen anything else he's done on the big screen, but looking through his filmography I see he's done some big TV series, including a lot for The Sopranos and Game of Thrones. That would seem to be where his strength lies. I see he's doing The Many Saints of Newark Sopranos prequel movie. Wonder how that'll turn out.

The first one had elements from other genres in it. Every sequel instead followed T2's mold which focused more on the action and humor to their detriment.

T2 still had horror elements. Future war, Sarah's nightmares, T-1000 delivered suspense too. Quips were a bit jarring at times, mostly in the later parts of the movie, but theatrical version is relatively balanced in terms of tone. Unlike ****ing extended editions.

If TDF will have tone of T2, it will be enough for me. Following films didn't have even that.

This could have just as easily been another run of the mill slasher series, but the draw became a robot protecting some Connor from other more advanced robots.

I hope Tim Miller encourages this kind of filmmaking wholeheartedly. We need to go back to the roots of the franchise

easily one of the coolest parts in the whole film I loved when even the music went slow and had an echo to it very cool

Hopefully Tim Miller has a say in the marketing and ensures that there's no s****y song cover in the trailer this time.

Totally agreed - I still watch it now and think its one of the coolest things ever made - the sound FX for the laser scanners is just awesome.

OMG that terminator 84 trailer is the ****. That 80's music mixed with the narrator and Kyle speaking is complete bliss but at 1.11 when that painting (which cameron painted himself) unveiled the Terminator underneath is haunting. Damn im gonna watch this movie now . Thats how you make a trailer man. The quick edits and general stock sounding music in todays trailers doesn't really scratch the surface compared to this .

God that summer of '91, just finished secondary school and was 16 and the new Terminator film was due an that trailer dropped, just unreal.

When I was a kid in 2002, I remember seeing the teaser for Terminator 3. The movie wasn't as amazing as I hoped, but I'll always remember getting really excited when I heard the iconic theme!

T2 still has the best trailer, though! Wish I could have seen that in the theatre!

What's nice about that T2 teaser is that you would think Arnold was still playing the villain. The later trailers gave it away, but had you gone into the movie with only seeing the teaser the shock of the T-800 being a good guy would only come when he tells John to, "Get down."

Yeah, the trailers should have kept the twist a secret!

it would be impossible because all the scenes that you want to promote the movie (insane action scenes for 91) show that he is on the same side as Sarah Connor and is protecting the kid

I have a feeling due to how close this films release is that we will get a more standard trailer rather than the traditional teaser. My guess is the trailer will do its best to show the average audience that this film is now the real T3.

I was thinking of another "T3" haha

"Toy Story 3"

We will most likely get a regular montage in the trailer. And on one hand it's something I'd prefer, because if a teaser that can't show exactly what we're in for, it will feel somewhat non-assuring. And the franchise needs to convince the fans and GA that this time it's the real deal. On the other hand getting special treatment in promotion since it's a rare thing these days can boost hype in the right direction too. Miller can craft stylish presentations, as evidenced by the intro of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
