Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

This is a thought and view of 'overall' film making, not just this trailer, but how is CGI looking progressively worse as the years (and months pass in some cases) than that presented nearly 30 years ago, I don't get it.
I said this in the Superhero Civil War thread a couple months ago and go minor resistance. CGI is for sure worse than it used to be. I thought that the CG in this looked bad because I was watching on my phone, but I guess I was wrong. Hell look at the CGI for that Hobbs and Shaw trailer. Some shots are downright atrocious. Like no excuse for that.

I think what is happening is a mixture of 2 things
1) CGI houses are overworked and underpaid. A lot of them are going out of business because of this. Less CGI/SFX houses to spread out the work=Worse CGI. Martin of DoubleToasted mentioned this a bit ago
2) Studios realize they can still make a buttload of money from movies with mediocre CGI. A lot of the MCU movies look kinda meh with their CGI and cinematography. Still the most successful series around. Hobbs and Shaw is going to be a bonafide hit, still has some of the worst CGI I've seen. Whereas movies like Alita and Ready Player One have incredible CGI and don't make that much money.

Honestly looks like they're retreading familiar ground but decided to replace young Sarah Connor from Genisys with an old Sarah Connor.

Yep. It all looks just so tired and dull.

They should have gone for a full horror movie like the first one again. Stripped it right back, lost all the clever clever cgi rubbish - made it cheap, dirty and nasty.

They keep chasing the big budget blockbuster audience, but Terminator lost any credence with that market a long time ago.

I guess I'm in the minority I didn't think this looked bad. However, nothing that will have me running to the theater.
I do agree that this kinda feels like "Been there done that" There's someone they need to protect, there's some new Terminator with upgraded gear...yeah.

The CGI was bad, but I thought that was just my phone. However, reading through the thread it was just that the SFX were bad. Which is a shame. I've been saying that CGI and cinematography has gotten much worse. And a Terminator film really doesn't need a huge plane crashing moment like what's in the trailer. That's so large and i'm sure that affected the budget.

The trailer was also cut weird with the music cues. I liked the song, but they kept stopping it and starting it.

Again it didn't look bad to me. But doesn't look like anything I'll go to the theater to see

Honestly Terminator Salvation was a perfect set up
1. Still within the universe but doing something different. 2. Not relying on Arnold or Linda Hamilton 3. Had an interesting (at least for the Terminator franchise) look to it. It's too bad the movie wasn't that good.

i agree with everything.

It's going to have work very hard for me to part with my $10, in the next trailer.

:funny::up:. Although that would work out about £8, still needs to work harder? :p

The film looks uninspired, tired and a CGI bloatfest. I liked Salvation and Genisys. They tried to move the franchise in a different direction and had some good ideas, just had poor execution. It's a shame as the first two films were very prescient about the growing reliance on computers, threat of automation and the emergence of A.I way before they were so ingrained in our society. Perhaps because they've gone too far off-message and instead just want to deliver a 'rollercoaster ride' film it's lacking the heart and intelligence of those two films.

On the YouTube video, the usual snowflake MRAs are going nuts as usual. No doubt edgelords Mr.H Reviews and The Quartering (diminishing returns more like) will be giving their hot takes about there being too many women and how feminism is cancer and LGBT and equal representation is ruining films. The state of these comments.... :funny:. How did we end up with a generation of man babies? Perhaps there's no John Connor because he saw the future and given up the ghost and realised they're not worth saving afterall.

Mackenzie Davis said in the trailer ( talking about why saving the kid ) : because I was her. I wonder if there will be more to it.
The 2 in 1 Terminator isn't bad.

I think the reason for bad CGI is the overuse and reliance on it these days. It's something that distracts the eye if a frame is full of it and it's so much they probably don't even have the time and resorts to perfect every frame of it until the movie is released.

Whatever the reason is I'm dissapointed by the CGI in this movie specifically. I expected more from the guy who spends a decade to try and have the right technology in order to present the best possible results and from the guy who is a visual effects expert, having his own studio, both of whom had given us great samples in this particular area.

Looks like a ****ty Genisys sequel.

I feel bad for Linda Hamilton. She does look good here, but she deserves better.

CGI looks terrible. I don't get the point of this movie. Why are they making another one? It just look like it encompasses every bad sequel we've seen so far.
