Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

I honestly liked the trailer, looked like it could be a cool movie.
But then, i like all the Terminator movies.
To be honest i dont know what more you can do with Terminator despite its core idea, it feels to me like something you cant really push farther than it already had and everything feels more like the same over and over again.
Which isnt even a problem...you have fun action with explosions, robots, time travel and so on.

Where do you go with Terminator? They tried showing us the world after Judgement Day and it didnt work.
They tried a "reboot", didnt work.
They tried several attempts at sequels and it also didnt really work out for most people.
What do you do with the premise?

I dont know, im not a huge fan and all, which probably means i miss the point or so...but all terminator movies entertained me and left me satisfied, so i cant ask for more.

But i genuinly would like to know what you think the direction they should go and all that.

it looks like all the terminator action goes to Mackenzie Davis character. they showed only the bazooka scene with Sarah
Obviously to stop Rev 9 the mantle is being passed to the new (half human half machine) . And no the bazooka is not the extent of her role.
Do people really need their hand held to walk through this and figure it out.

100 bucks says they kill off Sarah for shock value. Guarantee it.

I did enjoy all the sequels too despite not being as good as the first two but like I said a page ago, they really should explore the horror aspect of the franchise a bit more. Is not just about what else is new, but what you feel while watching them. The action is welcomed and all, but even in Judgment Day it was the suspense and the horror from the T-1000 that also made that movie so good and so much fun to see.

I did not like this trailer at all. From what i'm seeing online, for the people that saw the cinemacon footage are saying this trailer is not good in comparison. The editing and choice of shots are head scratching to me. I expect a much better followup trailer.

Same!

As you said, the future war/post judgement day was the only interesting thing to do. But they messed it up.

That's part of the eye rolls post TS, what else can you do with the story? There isn't much.

After TS failed they should've just let the franchise die. It's not like it's been a big money maker in years.

I can mildly tolerate T3 because I can see what they were trying to do.

Salvation and Gensisys are just like NUKE FROM ORBIT.

It wouldn't work as a movie, but I do like the RoboCop vs. Terminator ending. RoboCop realizes he can't prevent Judgement Day. So instead he rebuilds himself in the future and stops the Terminators there and liberates the human race.

Sort of like Predators. Predators is the only recent Predator sequel I like because I thought yes it was trying to mimic the first film, but it still came the closest and was for the most part entertaining and believable. All the other ones, especially The Predator were garbage.

Also, Predators didn't really contradict any of the previous films.

I think casting an interesting actor as the antagonistic Terminator would help a bunch. I understand they're robots but you don't have to find the closest approximation of that in the chosen actor. Dude is so bland.
Gabriel Luna the Rev 9 is more the equivalent of Robert Patrick: the liquid metal, shapeshifting T-1000 (was just a bland killing machine)
Mackenzie Davis is more analogues to the T2 Schwarzenegger role.

Plus you know we have Schwarzenegger in the film, so nobody should be aping his role, or character, we have the real deal, and the very human Linda Hamilton for character driven arc passing the mantle.
Luna Rev 9 isn't supposed to be jokey and fun with a great grim personality, he's supposed to be devoid of one , how do people get this so wrong! WTF,?

I can see that, having it be less action and instead be a nail biter where the action isnt over the top might be a cool idea.

I have the feeling Terminator is a series that is limited and shouldnt have dozens of sequels...at least in the pre-judgment day setting.
I do think you have more room if you go with what comes after judgment day.
There you can go with a war movie, something like mad max or full on horror.
You can have more experiments with style and design, with the tone.

It's just hard for me to care. If John Connor is so unimportant now, why should I care about this new girl? Obviously, the fate of humanity didn't really hinge on John Connor at all.

My feelings exactly.

Same here.

T3 and Salvation i thought were ok.

But Genisys - what a pile of garbage that is. And the fact that it tries to be a cosplay of T2, but feels like a much worse and cheaper copy, with a "refreshened" story.

Cosplay is a pretty good description of Emilia Clarke in Genisys.

The tone for Genisys didn't even feel like a Terminator film. To me it was kinda a bastardization.

While I have huge problems with T3 and TS, I don't feel they were that bad in terms of flipping off the franchise

Teaser was ok, the CG could have been better but we're still months away from the final product. I'm way more interested in the story than the action.

This is supposed to be rated R I take it?

T3 was supposed in idea be T2 but with adult John Connor take. But way they made was mediocre movie due decisions how to portray John Connor. It was also last chance to see Arnie as prime Terminator before he started showing age. He was passable in that movie. Yet they botched that chance to crown trilogy

Salvation and Genisys were garbage. Specially later one. We wont talk about Predator franchise because I made my statement on them in that thread.

This one we will see. It feels more like T3, but still not good enough for me to say this movie was needed. I dont think we will ever come to anything close to T2, but I realize now after decades, chance on that was long gone.

This is ridiculously bad and is like Charlie's Angels wire-fu crap. Why would he flip like that?

If you told me this was a leftover shot from Genisys, I'd believe you.
I don't know... Davis doesn't seem like a normal human being. Someone like that hitting a creature with a solid steet skeleton with a big honking piece of metal... Yeah I don't see the issue with him flipping over.

The trailer was ok. Miller does action very well, I just would like to know more specifics... But it was a teaser so... Gonna have to wait.
