Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

I think when it comes to the R rating it's so much more than what some people dismiss it as, which is "its just some blood and an excuse for cursing". Personally I think it's more of the imagery and the atmosphere. You can show something horrifying for 2 seconds but with the right music and the right cinematography that scene will get stuck in your head and you will remember it. Like Arnold cutting off his skin and showing his metal arm might only be on the screen for 3-4 seconds but the gritty look of the scene and the reactions of the Dyson family (who all scream and cry in horror) makes it so memorable. I can't imagine a scene like that having the same impact in any of the sequels. If you do that in a PG-13 movie it just won't be as good.

Because nowdays it'd probably be CGI and they'd make a one-liner out of it.

I saw the regular trailer yesterday and thought it was a big improvement on the first one and I just saw the red band version and it's even better. I think some have been burned that many times by this franchise that they have made their minds up already and nothing will change that, I'm not saying I expect this to be on the level of the first 2, but I do think there are some promising things in these new trailers and I'm intrigued to see what it has to offer.

The future war shots were impressive, I wonder if they are flashback's or if the earth is not as we know it today in the movie. It was also better cut and paced than the first trailer which definitely made the big freeway chase look more dynamic, and I loved the shot of Sarah shooting the Rev-9 as the chopper is taking off, and my favcourite shot was Arnie blasting the face off the Rev-9. :wow:

Is this a real poster or fan made?

The poster posted before this one was decent but I like this one better with the big Rev-9 skull looming over it.

Jesus effing christ, can this forum get any more ridiculous? There is a balance between telling us nothing, and telling us everything about a movie in a trailer. It shouldn't have to be said for crying out loud. It's either one extreme or another in here sometimes and it pisses me the **** off.

Chill man, you are pretty antagonistic with things you get a hate on for.

I like this image on both posters. Skynet Bros 4 Life. :funny:

Lol, yeah it also looks really cool in the new trailers when he splits apart, I think what they've done with the Rev-9 is create a pretty inventive new take on the Skynet assassin.

I'm curious in seeing scenes of the new future. Same fate but new timeline after T2's events and so it'll be interesting to see what the future becomes after the original Judgement Day was stopped.

T3 and Salvation's future was altered but not majorly changed. Can't remember if Genisys was a direct sequel to T3 or Salvation and if that future was altered by one of them. With Dark Fate..

I'm thinking Skynet and it's machines aren't what actually created the new terminator as maybe it's a whole new company and the new girl being major importance in the future is because of the new change

Mild spoiler:

Legion, I think that's its name, is the new threat. Skynet was replaced.

Major spoiler:

Not long after the events of T2, John is murdered by a T-800. From what I've heard, the machines used a T-800 because they knew John and Sarah would trust it. It walks right up to John and shoots him dead. That alters the future and allows the rise of Legion.

Old arnold T-800 is the one that murdered John. That's why Sarah wants to kill him.

Well now I'm really want to see that and am even more curious about scenes of the new future

they said that Genisys was after T2 and that they are ignoring T3 and Salvation. so its funny and pathethic that 4 years later they are saying the same. they are now ignoring T3,Salvation AND Genisys and this is now the real sequel to T2. come on. :funny:

And in a few years they are ignoring T3, Salvation, Genisys and Dark Fate. :p

Genisys wasn't after T2. It completely ignored T2 and rewrote the majority of the first film as well.

Seen the trailer last night.

A bit underwhelmed by it, I actually really enjoyed Genisys the most of any Terminator since T-2 but this new one looks more of a return to T-3 style. Glad to see Luna getting more work though.

Still quite on the fence about this one.

I am not feeling the doom and gloom on this. The new trailer looked pretty good to me. Outside of the returning vets, Davis looks to be a fun new character and Luna is winning me over as the villain. I would have checked this out for sheer morbid curiosity but I'm actually optimistic, and this is spoken as someone who liked 3 and isn't all that excited about erasing it.

Seriously? That second spoiler is a
direct lift of a plot point from T3

It's a bit different.
In T3 its revealed that John is murdered by the T-800 in the future. Which I have some trouble accepting. At that point in the future John would be paranoid as **** and constantly killing terminators. I dont buy the idea that future John would trust even the T-800 unconditionally and let him walk up to him and shoot him

In Dark Fate he's murdered by the T-800 in the 80s or 90s. When John is still young and trusting enough to let a familiar Terminator close to him. And after the events of T2 John sees the T-800 as a father figure. He's the perfect trojan horse. Just send a T-800 back in time and he can walk right up to young Jon and scatter his pesky brains all over a wall.

I'm not 100% doom and gloom but I do feel like being prepared for the worst might be the only way i'll end up enjoying it. I enjoyed the newest trailer but similar to other people here I do feel i've been burned too many times. The Terminator franchise started off so great but similar to other franchises like Alien or Predator we now have more disappointing entries than good ones and that's worrying. :p

I’m mildly more intrigued by this now.

I think this looks okay overall but the doom and gloom is probably because we've had THREE bad sequels in a row. Yeah, I know some people liked T3, or Salvation, or Genysiessysssesyiuss, but the general consensus is that the movies sucked (hence the reason they are pretending they didn't happen. It's a franchise that hasn't known what to do with itself because it probably should have ended with T2. So while this movie looks pretty good to me overall (although that CGI airplane stunt looks straight out of Genisys), I'm still a little apprehensive about it. That said Mackenzie Davis is awesome and I could watch her do anything. And it's cool to see Linda Hamilton again. But did they REALLY have to make her say, "I'll be back"? I'm not sure who sounded more less enthused in their delivery of that line, her or Christian Bale? You could tell that was the moment during filming Salvation that Bale realized that the movie was going to ****ing suck.
