Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

It went up to 71%? Doesn't that make it the highest rated sequel since T2? A lot people seem to be dwelling on the box office disaster, which is important but apparently it's at least critically successful and many fans seen to like it enough.

Maybe it'll do well on video or digital rental/sales

It is a shame that nobody understand the plot.

They didn't send Gracie without a plan, at the last scene she said about the core "It was the plan from the beginning", she was sent with goal that she is going to sacrifice herself and eliminate the terminator. But guess what the difference between sending a robot and a human that she is a human !!, she was afraid for her life . Sarah Connor bait is the true plan that needed to be done!, But Gracie went scared and wanted to be buried as deep as possible in the ground and just keep hiding. Sarah Connor get used to it that the terminators that helping them is weaker than the one sent to kill them, so she tried to find solutions like the weapons with the electro-magnetic pulse, which gave Gracie some hope, but that plan did not work out. In the end, she saw that Danny wasn't cooperating, doesnt want hide, the leading woman who rescued her came out and said "we stay here and fight", she showed the courage of a real warrior who stopped running, only then Gracie understood why she was the one sent here and did her job not from a direct command but out of emotion and willingness (as Arnold said, because I choose to do it). And about Ligion? it means that no matter what you will do everything is repetitive. And the first scene show that you cant prevent this and just end it. it is a constant struggle.

Brilliant script that everybody missed

Currently at 71% Critic score & 84% Audiecne score on Rotten Tomatoes which is extremely good, so no others liked it too. It just didnt translate to Boxoffice.
I meant more so on the forum

You can even change it. In it's own concept. We dont need necessarily need replica of first one either. Put in Feudal Japan era. Let Predator be hunted by different type of hunter than military one with guns and muscles like Arnold was.

Put in katanas, shurikens. Let put ninjas or samurai type hunter who can take advantage of their skill. Specially when we know Predator can respect skills and codes, hence Bushido code. I am here just putting example what kind of movie with similar concept you can do.

But people who have this ideas dont get possibility to make or pich this kind of movies. It's easier to recycle crap, not respect original movies and do easy cash grabbing sequels.

Your "idea" is the epitome of recycling crap. Same crap, different setting. Ohhh wooowza, now it's ninjas instead of soldiers. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO original, maaaan!

I'm getting so sick of seeing recommended videos on youtube about this film flopping and the phrase "Go Woke, Go Broke" in the titles or thumbnail images
Those are people that hate the idea of feminism and try to cover it up by calling it "woke". the fact is, they just hate seeing a woman be tough. Fragile masculinity.

You didn't have to be a snarky jerk about it, but I agree

So am I the only one that liked it?

Nope, there are a few of us here.

I was watching clips of the Sarah Connor Chronicles last night. If anything after T2 deserves to be considered canon as part of the Terminator mythology it's that show. It never got the ending it deserved, and frankly Summer Glau was the perfect Terminator, innocently beautiful, yet genuinely terrifying. I have no idea why no-one ever considered a Terminator movie with her in it, because she was as good as Arnold and Robert Patrick.

Don't forget Garret Dillahunt's Cromartie. And, not gonna lie, I kind of geeked out when they showed Reese had a brother in Genesys.

While I'm not opposed to that, I just don't see why a studio would do that. And narrative wise how do you separate it from The Terminator. Are you gonna do another Terminator chases someone movie? I think that whole narrative is just done with. They've done it 5/6 times. I think that concept is just played out.

I think the big thing is that the movie would be cheaper to make. Cheaper movie, lower bar for success.

Sorry. But people online thinking that they could do everything much better than any Hollywood screenwriter and director sets off the snark.

True, but also probably less advertising dollars. Which will probably translate in less people seeing it.

I never needed a sequel to T2, but if they were to continue after the T3, Salvation and Genisys misfires, they should've gone back to basics. They said they did that for this film, but it doesn't feel that way. The Grace character kind of f**** things up because she can almost go toe to toe with the Rev-9, so you get this over the top sequence where she's beating the crap out of the Rev-9 in the factory.

They should've made a small film with an under $100 million budget, no OTT superhero action and no iffy CGI :o

Yeah I gotta say it’s not really as fun when one of the heroes can go toe to toe with a Terminator.

At any rate, I don’t believe Miller made a bad movie. It’s an enjoyable effort mostly to me. It’s just it’s come out during a time where we’ve been immersed in films like this for over a decade.

If there had to be sequels after T2, I really wish this was the only one made or that the franchise ended with T3 or Salvation before eventually doing an all out T1 remake(you know they will some day)

T3 and Genisys existing kinda ruins this to an extent. Dark Fate doesn't really feel all that different or fresh and it's like a remake of those two movies with some big tweaks

movies with a good rection to teaser and final trailers bomb. movies with good reviews bomb. the reaction on the internet for this is meh. there is zero chance this movie makes enough money for a sequel. and i bet that this will not have an ending. this movie will end the same way like Alita.
as i said in may there was zero chance this movie makes enough money for a sequel and it was also obvious that it would bomb ...even before the leaks.

thank god for free tickets. if i would pay for this i would be mad because its so similar to previous movies.

Honestly, just knowing the John Conner bit in the beginning means I never care to see it. What a slap in the face! Hey, we saved JC! Have some pizza! Really glad we deep sixed the T800 we had already reprogrammed and trained to be J's protector...sure would be inconvenient if another one popped up...or they sent others we didn't know about....
BANG.

Yeah.

Dead to me.

How long until Cameron disowns this movie and says he never wanted to be involved in the first place and just did it as a favor?
:hehe:
James Cameron Talks Clashes With Tim Miller on Terminator: Dark Fate
I would say many [disagreements],” Cameron explained. “And the blood is still being scrubbed off the walls from those creative battles. This is a film that was forged in fire. So yeah, but that’s the creative process, right?”
“My work with Robert on Alita was very different. Robert loved the script, loved everything, said, ‘I just want to make this movie. I want to make the movie the way you see it.’ I was like, ‘No, you got to make it your movie,'” Cameron said. “I had the reverse experience with Tim, which is Tim wanted to make it his movie. And I’m like, ‘Yeah, but I kind of know a little about this world.’ So I had the matter and the anti-matter version of that producurial experience.”

Why Terminator: Dark Fate's Director Probably Won't Return For A Sequel
I was grateful just to play in this sandbox once. It’s Jim’s sandbox, and he can take his toys and do whatever he wants with it. I’m just grateful that I got to do this one. And there’s a lot of stories to tell. And I’m old, so I have to look at how many more movies I can make.

Well damn lol. Put the franchise on hold until Cameron finally finishes his Avatar saga so he can direct and write a new terminator film himself. Maybe he'd do in between Avatar 2 and 3

If he owns the rights now, can't he deny studios from doing more films?
