Terminator: Genisys - Part 3

Sarah Connor coming back is fine. It is where I think the series should go. But as much as like love Emilia Clarke, I can't for the life of me understand how she got the role over Brie Larson. She is the kind of actress who can embodied what made Linda Hamilton's Sarah one of the great characters in film.

I also agree on Jai Courtney. The only way he could look more out of place, is if he was missing his head or something.
Well this is one of those times we agree, those times are nice. I'm sure the chick will be okay but I can't help thinking Larson would have killed it.

Are there good ones? AoU is the only decent one I can remember off the top of my head.

The Birman/Keaton one was quite decent. Simple but good.

The hell with the photos. It's EW, so of course they're awful. But this little tidbit from the synopsis has pretty much convinced me that this movie is going to be a laugh riot.

Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.

:lmao:

TERMINATOR: THE RISE OF POPS

They really missed out on a great opportunity here though. They should have set the movie back at the beginning, when Sarah's parents get killed, and then have her raised by a trio of T-800s. Seriously, who wouldn't want to see 3 Terminators and a Little Lady?

How is he not Uncle Bob!!!!!? :argh:

I don't care how bad this movie ends up looking, the Mother of Dragons and The Doctor are in a Terminator film. I'm going to see it for that. :p

Seeing Matt Smith on the cover was surprising. I had no idea he was in this.

As for Jai Courtney, he's reminding me of Billy Eichner on that cover.

Brie Larson has the devil in her eyes. I am still beyond disappointment in their decision. That being said, she might have been blessed to avoid this crapstorm.

Yeah this movie is starting to sound like **** to me. Maybe Larson can be Captain Marvel or something.

I wonder which one Arnold likes better. Uncle Bob or Pops ? Or are we not allowed 2 talk about pops either ?

Just curious... I see a lot of support for Brie Larson on these boards. What has she been in that made her such a fan favorite? I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm just curious why she's so well-respected. I've only seen her in a couple episodes of The League and that Don Jon movie where she had about three lines.

She was amazing in Short Term 12.

RE: Sarah Connor casting - I was rooting for Maslany.

Watch "Short Term 12". Most of her roles have been small up to this point, like in Scott Pilgrim, Greenberg, 21 Jump Street, Tanner Hall, etc. I have found her quite good in all them, but she finally got her chance in Short Term 12, and killed it. Same thing with the young Kaitlyn Dever of Last Man Standing and Justified fame.

Okay, thanks I'll have to check that out. Totally forgot she was in Scott Pilgrim.

That can't be real...

That synopsis? Yeah, it supposedly is.

The idea of someone... ANYONE being raised by a Terminator seriously sounds like an SNL sketch.

Its real:

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.

Twist No. 1? Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. “Since she was 9 years old, she has been told everything that was supposed to happen,” says Ellison. “But Sarah fundamentally rejects that destiny. She says, ‘That’s not what I want to do.’ It’s her decision that drives the story in a very different direction.”

I really dont think the plot sounds that awful. So she calls him pops. Plenty of people have been called pops. A warped Sarah raised by a Terminator could be interesting.

A Terminator-raised Sarah Connor sure is intriguing.

I'm not the type to knee jerk about stuff like this. Maybe it just sounds awful on paper and the film will be a Rise of the Planet of the Apes style revival of a classic franchise but right now it sounds like hot **** to me.
