Just throwing a fan-made idea thingamajig out here: what if there was a Terminator multiverse/hypertime ala like the DC and Marvel multiverses?

I can label each like this:
Prime
T1-T2: war averted, happy future (alt. ending)

Sequels
T3-TS: war, future uncertain

Sarah
TV show with certain future war but uncertain time paradox(es)

Genesys
New film (and possible trilogy) with several number of timeline differences

Thoughts?

I think at this point Terminator is a multiverse, especially when you consider that there is numerous novels and comics out there as well they go on different paths towards post T2 movies. I think a multiverse is almost always in effect when dealing with time travel. With some exceptions.

I just like playing with that concept in various movies/franchises. This, Godzilla, Gundam, Sailor Moon, DC Animation, etc.

I would go even further and say each film is it's own universe.

Hollywood would have us believe that they're all in some kind of chronological order and T1-T4 should exist in the one universe.

Personally because of the vast changes in tone and aesthetic between the films, I prefer to think of T1 and T2 as canon (after all, James Cameron did them and he's the man who came up with it all in the first place. I see T3 and T4 almost as Elseworlds stories. Neither of those films seem to flow very smoothly from their predecessors, so it's hard to accept them as sequels - never mind the drop in quality.

Genisys does appear to address some questions I've thought about when watching the films over the years. If you're Skynet and you have a time machine and virtually limitless supplies of various Terminators, why just send 1 back in time (T1), followed by another (T2) when the first fails. Why not send back hundreds? Why not send back a Terminator to correct the mistakes that led to the first one (T1) or second one (T2) failing? You could just make repeated attempts until John Connor no longer exists. It seems Genisys will have more than one timeline so maybe they'll answer some of these questions.

I think they're gonna kinda take little jabs at the entire series by having T3/TS/SCC all be like little ****ed up timelines that happened because of all the crap they've done messing with the timestream.

Honestly I feel that Jason Clarke is the right choice for John Connor when you think about it because not only can he act but he has a real presence about him too that he can actually pass for being Sarah's son the messiah in the war against the machines

But Jai Courtney he should have not been cast as Kyle Reese, if anything who should have been cast as Kyle? I would have gone with Paul Walker if he hadn't died but since he did my next choice probably would have been Garrett Hedlund as Kyle

But Emilia Clarke if anything she's perfect casting as Sarah Connor she even looks like Linda Hamilton and not to mention she can act especially if you have seen her on Game of Thrones
