Terminator: Genisys - Part 5

The fact that they can't even accurately match one of the 1984 punk's hairstyles says to me how lazy they're being. Sometimes it's like they're not even watching the movies they're reenacting.

They made sure to get Arnold right though, that's all that matters.

This looks so bad. Like easily worse then the last two sequels, and that is saying something. I know some will like this. It always happens. But I can't imagine having real love for the first two films and then enjoying what is about to come. Maybe I am too jaded at this point.

I don't even think I'm going to bother watching this **** in theaters.

Nor I. Plenty of good things to watch instead.

Yeah it's weird because the 1984 version felt more authentic, while the new punks are more "Hot Topic" via late 90's.

Also did Chef (great movie, but pretty flat visually), don't expect much then. Thor TDW looked really bland (as do most Marvel movies anyway).

Terminator Genisys like those two is another one of those movies shot on the Alexa, and it has that unappealing cleanness, clarity & kind of unified aesthetic to it. Sigh.......

To be fair, there has been many movies that have used the Alexa and looked great. (Sky fall, Drive, Birdman, It Follows, Zero Dark Thirty, Godzilla, Crimson Peak). And the Alexa to me looks more filmy than the Red Epic/Dragon.

A small movie like 'Blue Ruin' used a consumer grade camera and it produced a film more beautiful than any mainstream movie out there.

The problem is that I think filmmakers are too preoccupied with the technical ease of digital cameras that they have forgotten to create beautiful images.

Of course, many of them have looked good, Epic/Dragon has a different look to it. I'm just tired of this look, glad that film is making its comeback, and that guys like Nolan, PTA, Snyder, Abrams, etc keep shooting their movies on film, the sterile, super clean look (and that includes stuff like Skyfall, or Godzilla, or Zero Dark Thirty, etc (it can look good, i'm not saying it looks bad) just kind of saddens me, it lacks the texture, the grain, the warmth & the color rendition of film, simple as that.

well yeah it's an era where movies look different.

I remember when I was watching 'The Royal Tenebalms' with my younger bro, and he made a comment on the way the movie looked. Not the usual Anderson style, or set design, but the hues..the grains (he didn't say grains but implied 'texture' and a certain 'richness').

I've always liked Mark Romanek's comments on film vs. digital:

Film is an interoperation of what you're seeing.

Digital is the reality of what your'e seeing.

That always stuck with me, especially when I watched the Hobbit. Even in 24 frames, it was too crisp, lacking the romantic quality of the Lord of the Rings films.

Well The Hobbit trilogy was shot digitally, and the whole aesthetic is much more fantastical.

This is one of those films that I'm just 100% negative about.

Only way I'll go see it is if someone in my family wants me to see the film with them. Nothing else will get me into the theater.

I knew it was going to be bad when they dropped the "I" in Genesis and added a "Y"

Seriously at "Y" makes you ask WHY!!!!!

They should just pull this now, wow!!

Just wow!!

Shelf this and reshoot for gods sake.

Or just be an unreleased film like the Grizzly 2 or Fantastic 4.

Then atleast it will become a cult favorite over time.

This is insane, who the heck gave the green-light?

Well my wacky brother's favorite films are Scott Pilgrim, TDK and T2. We probably watched it over a 100 times as kids. If presented with the chance, he'd probably erase this film from existent. So I don't need to worry about anyone dragging me to see this. :funny:

LOL! One of the few times I agree with you.

Atleast we can chalk this up as an alternate timeline like Highlander II, III and the Source

Terminator ended for me with T2. I watched and enjoyed the tv show, but it completely felt elsewhere.

I have no doubt this will be summer garbage but will it be so bad that I can atleast laugh most of the time

This film is going to be absurdly terrible, but still more fun than Salvation. I know it'll suck and I still can't wait. Nothing will disuade me from seeing this disaster, even though the studio are trying their hardest haha

I just don't get how a movie from 1991 can look so much more realistic than now. It actually pisses me off.
