Terminator: Genisys - Part 5

I prefer the teaser poster. It was simple like the posters for T1 and T2

Call me crazy but I love the poster and would happily frame it on my wall.

Can't wait to see the International poster with mandatory Jason Clarke floating head.

I like the poster. But yeah, Emilia Clarke could have something to do with that. :p

The poster itself seems fine for what it's selling about the movie. The problem is, we know what it's selling and we don't want it!

I'll just agree with the poster who said T2 was the last Terminator movie.

^ I think all of us have said that at some point during this thread. And probably TS's thread, too. :p

Yeah but I think the difference with TS was, we had hope. The trailers made it look like it could be a good movie.

This has looked like garbage from the get-go.

Haha for sure! I honestly haven't had any interest in this franchise for years. I tried watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and it was decent but I didn't continue past the first season. Salvation was bad.

Still, I have a feeling Genisys could be an okay movie or beat expectations since opinions are so negative toward the trailers and posters. I

Eh, I am going to give this a try. I disagree with the opinion that the franchise should've ended with T2. I feel like the later two films, though flawed, definitely have things to offer.

I actually love the concept of Judgment Day being inevitable. The notion of predetermination, destiny, fate... I dig the idea that they're clinging to hope so much, and yet they're doomed and there's no point in trying to stop it. It's kind of a heartbreaking concept.

Plus, time travel opens up so many doors and possibilities, and alternate timelines, it's silly to say that T2 would end ALL possibilities of Judgment Day.

I've always had a soft spot for Rise of the Machines for some reason. Maybe because it was one of the first DVDs I ever brought so I'm probaby being overy sentimental towards it. But that ending was pretty awesome that even detractors of the movie have always praised.

If they had things to offer, Cameron would have made them. That is all there is to say really.

I agree with Rocketman that I think the franchise does/did have more to offer but they've messed up enough times so I say just give it up. The world isnt going to go crazy if they end the Terminator franchise

The trailer for this showed in front of AoU. People actually did seem to be eating it up

Then again I think the whole country is on meth

I liked the very basic concept of Marcus from Salvation, there was a lot that could have been done with it. But of course they bungled it.

I thought I would be super excited to see Arnold again in a Terminator movie but right now I'm not excited at all. The movie just doesn't look good. It looks cheap and they should have chosen a better actor to play Kyle Reese. I don't understand why they chose him.

I think the problem is that these Terminator sequels feel like a bad rehash of the first two.

Terminator 3 should of been as dark as the first two movies. Sarah Connors is dead and Judgement Day begins. Instead the tone was all over the place.

Kristanna Loken was the least intimidating Terminator of the series. A badass female Terminator would be cool but Loken was just a hot chick with no screen presence which made her completely forgettable.

Arnold Schwarzenegger brought some goofy humour to the part that didn't belong in the film. Geniys looks like Arnie bringing the same goofy humour from Terminator 3 back to the role for some reason.

That poster is awful. My biggest problem with it is probably the school photograph canvas slapped to the background. Very Asylum indeed.

Is there yet any reason for them naming the movie "Genisys"?

I find it fascinating that in 2015, we have basically decided if we like a movie or not before it's even out. T5 isn't even out, there has been no reviews so far, yet most people have already decided it's terrible, and the rest are desperately clinging onto the small glimpse of hope there is.

Either way, this movie has such an uphill battle right from the start, and I feel like T5 can't win no matter what. It would probably need to be on par with Terminator 2 in order to get the haters to admit that "ok, it's not THAT bad". Even if it's just good, that won't sway people over. I don't know, it just feels like a shame. Soon there's almost no point in actually seeing the movies anymore, because you already know from trailers/posters/casting/whatever if it's gonna be good or bad.

I think whole concept of TS was great
A prequel/sequel movie set during the future war is an interesting idea. In fact I think that was the right way to go about it.

AS you said (about MArcus) they just bungled the execution. I don't even think TS is that bad. It's just kinda bland and forgettable.
I don't think it's an atrocity or anything. At least it's not shoehorning Arnold back in this.

So why are people allowed to judge a movie based on a trailer and like it, but then people who watch the same trailer and not like it are criticized

John Connor looks like the lovechild of Ghost Rider and the Human Torch in that poster, lol.

Well the point of a trailer is to show you something to get excited for, obviously that message isn't getting across. Also, there are plenty of movies you could tell would suck by the trailer, like Halle Berry's Catwoman or Shaq's Steel. It's not anything new being about to tell a movie will be bad by the trailer.

I saw the trailer right before Avengers 2, and wow, the cinematography does look cheap. On a Macbook I thought it looked fine but on the big screen, everything looked flat and cheap. It made me backtrack on my thoughts of Ant-Man's cinematography (which actually looked fine on the Big Screen.)

I think making up your mind beforehand, even if it's positive or negative is dumb. It's one thing to watch a trailer and have an initial opinion or feeling, but you can still go into a movie with an open mind. Making up your mind before you even see the movie (no matter if it's liking or disliking it) is just kinda dumb IMO.

This movie could very well be terrible, but when you see posts like "Im gonna go see this just so I can laugh at how bad it is" before having actually seen the movie, it just comes off as kinda stupid IMO. I'm not blown away by the trailers/posters either, but at least give it an open mind.
