Terminator: Genisys - Part 6

The problem with time travel causing multiple timelines is that no matter if you prevent Judgment Day in one timeline, there's still a hundred other timelines where it takes place and the human race is wiped out.

That's why the first Terminator film has a logical coherence above and beyond the rest, because the time travel cause-and-effect is a closed loop in one timeline.

A predestination paradox simply doesn't work if it's extablished the future can alter the past, it's as simple as that.

But the point is T1's paradox was simple. It was a time loop.

TG's paradox is all over the place to the point of absurdity.

I would argue TG doesn't even have a paradox. Its basically inter-dimensional travel in a multi-verse at this point. Like Star Trek 2009.

I know, what i've been saying in this thread over and over again is exactly that T-1's closed loop was what worked best as it makes Kyle Reese be John Connor's father without any problem...

No, but isn't that what it amounts to? Once you have multiple timelines you basically have multiple universes.

I think it depends on the time travel device. If Kyle in TG uses the same machine he used in T1, then the events of TG don't seem possible.

Every picture of Courtney just screams "NOT KYLE REESE".

You said yourself that T1 is a closed loop, meaning it only takes place in one universe. That means that the time travel equipment they use doesn't jump into other universes.

But then T-2 retconed it into time travel creating multiple timelines.

That review reminds me, has anyone made a supercut of the GG bridge being destroyed?

I kinda always saw T2 as being the part that Kyle Reese didnt see. He got sent through time but John knew that he couldnt be told about the T1000 and such, so after Kyle is sent through is when John sends uncle bob back.

John just knows that certain things need to happen the way they did for him.

As far as I'm concerned, at the end of T2, they prevented Judgement Day and the franchise ended.

I hate Variety's reviews. No proper flow, just a bunch of jumbled up sentences and usually written with a bit of pretentiousness

As a kid a I never thought it was averted. I always saw it as being an endless loop. It just makes sense that way

What about Hollywood Reporter? They gave it a similarly negative review.

Rotten tomatoes already has 3 rotten reviews and a single positive one. Not off to a good start.

Won't the franchise go back to Cameron after a while? He will probably not do anything with it, i have a feeling this might be the last Terminator film for a long while.
