Terminator: Genisys - Part 6

Rotten tomatoes already has 3 rotten reviews and a single positive one. Not off to a good start.

Won't the franchise go back to Cameron after a while? He will probably not do anything with it, i have a feeling this might be the last Terminator film for a long while.

2019 is when the right's revert back to James Cameron. But seeing as he's deep into the Avatar world for the next 50 years I doubt he'll do anything with it or he'll maybe loan the right's back out to a studio.

That's why Paramount are going ahead with two more sequel asap.

Wow, Paramount seems to have some of the worst franchises around, aside from Star Trek and Mission Impossible, all their franchises seem to keep getting terrible reviews.

What about Hollywood Reporter? They gave it a similarly negative review.

Didn't like that review either. 90% of it was just recap.

Collider has good reviews (if a bit on the harsh side) so does IGN (a bit on the easy side). But those are the only written review sites I read.

Mostly I like video reviews. Theyre usually funnier, have more personality, and aren't muddled down by recap. Double Toasted, Jeremy Jahns are my 2 go to channels. Schmoes KNows is alright too.

Best Terminator movie since T2:
*No country for old men
*The Guest
*It Follows
*Predestination
*Looper

Yeah definitely with Looper. "Rian Johnson should do a terminator film" ran through my head when watching that movie.

That's same thought I had while watching The Guest.

Meh, every time there are multiple disappointing instalments in a franchise, when a new bad one comes out, there is usualy this type of reviews saying it's the best since "x".

Some said Episode II was the best Star Wars film since Return of the Jedi, some said Transformers 4 was the ebst TF film since the first one, etc.

All of those times i disagreed, no matter how bad some instalments in a franchise have been, there can always be a worst one, this honestly looks worse than T-3 and Salvation IMAO, and from what i'm seeing, the reviews will also be worse.

He's not killing anything. If the movie is bad, that's on the director.

Damn not looking good so far. That sucks, because I really like Arnie and have been rooting for him to have another decent film for a while.

If this film fails hard, any guess at how they should aproach the next project in the franchise? Maybe make a continuation for the Sarah Connor tv show, or a direct sequel to the first 2 films? As it is now, i think the only way for them to do more with the franchise would probably be to do a full on reboot. The idea of attacking the facilities where Skynet would be created was originaly conceived for the first film if i'm not mistaken, but Cameron didn't have the budget at the time. This way you would pretty much start with a mix of Terminator 1 and 2, and then could move on towards a completely different direction.

After 3 messes that tried to be fresh starts, i think a full on reboot might be the only way to save the cinematic part of the franchise. If not on film, maybe a tv series continuing Sarah Connor Chronicles could work.

They should leave it the **** alone, like they should have done after T2.

I say just leave it be and let the rights revert back to James Cameron.

I was talking about how they would aproach it if they ever do something more with the franchise. After T-2 there was realy not much you could do with the films, but after watching Sarah Connor Chronicles and reading those Dark Horse Terminator 2029 comics i think there is still some potencial in the franchise. I don't realy mind more content, as long as they have an actual story to tell, which i don't feel T-3 to Genysis did.
