J.K. Simmons character. Seriously. What a waste.

Why on earth did they make him out to be some bumbling half wit?! Who's decision was that?

It would be nice if Terminator had a Fury Road type of resurgence but I just don't see that happening. Cameron isn't interested in returning and he isn't the same director anymore so even if he did return there is no telling what we would get.

Iv been thinking it would be great to get an animated Terminator future war movie...id even love to see T1-2 animated

Salvation was our one shot at a future war movie and they botched that too.

The Terminator series needs to be reclaimed by the fans and taken from Hollywooden. There are enough dedicated and talented people out there to make a decent T3 future war comic or animation. I know its a lot harder than I make it sound but man anything other than this **** Hollywood keeps vomiting up

The problem is that Terminator should have never continued after T2 except for a movie about the war which Salvation managed to be the worst possible thing it could have been on that setting.

I thought that was presented as just a dream Sarah had, rather than some sort of canonical fact.

You mean one of Kyle's nightmares. As for the pic, they could have aged it a little. Looked too fresh like they just took it just minutes before they raided that terminator compound.

So the movie isn't as bad as I think it is? Maybe I will give it a go.

You are kidding right?

No other movie came close to it in box office numbers. It is impossible to hit 2.7 billion dollars. I have heard reports of people feeling suicidal because the world of Pandora isn't real.

Hopefully those people commit suicide.

Once again, will really be curious about the fallout from all this.

Anyone remember how six years ago, McG was really delusional and constantly talked about directing a fifth Terminator film.

Salvation felt more like a spinoff or an offshoot, that introduced a new character and we follow his story, that just happened to take place in the post-apocalyptic world of Terminator.

Even the guys who wrote it didn't like John Connor or a film about the dynamics of the future war, so they didn't bother with either.

Bale was always meant to play the lead but he was originally offered the Marcus Wright role (which was originally the only lead). Connor barely appeared in the original script. He agreed but insisted on playing John Connor and wanted the role beefed up to co-lead (which is why it feels shoehorned into the plot and tacked on).

As soon as Bale agreed to do the film, they should have thrown out the script and done a page one rewrite but the writers strike hit and they couldn't do anything.

McG. His name alone doomed that movie. Only 4 things I liked about the movie: the trailer, Bale as Connor, Stan Winston's work, and the dark gritty look. Everything else, meh.

This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Until the big spoiler from the trailers, I thought this movie was atrocious. Then I started enjoying certain elements. Unfortunately the movie is still really bad. It's just unfortunate that some interesting ideas like Pops, JK Simmons, and John Connor were wasted in this film. Everything else was pretty terrible. Kyle and Sarah were miscast and most of the dialog in this film is either excessively corny or exposition heavy. Or both. The film also feels cheaper than the other films and dumber than even the previous 2 Terminator films.

5/10

Hmm.. Maybe. Point is, it wasn't a movie that people don't give a s**t about.

Like I mentioned above, there were people who took the movie too seriously, all because of how gorgeous it is, not just visuals but the concept as well.

Anyway, sorry for off-topic. I know this is a Terminator thread. lol
Avatar was a pop culture thing, that hit at the right moment. It didn't exactly have the lasting effect of say Star Wars, TDK, heck even Titanic.

I agree with that. People don't talk about that movie anymore.

.
Courtney is the next "it guy" that Hollywood is pushing (for no good reason) so they wanted to capitalize on that
Hopefully Courtney goes away like another Terminator alum Sam Worthington.

I've gotta be honest I've never understood the appeal of a future war Terminator movie.

DoFP is how you do such a film... At least, the future parts. :o

Days of Future Past is by far the best Terminator film since T2.

Singer and Kinberg were hugely influenced by Terminator and even used T2's structure as to how they adapted it. Singer even pitched it to Cameron before he started shooting and showed him a rough cut during post to get his thoughts.

The best Terminator movie scene T2 is the first season of the Flash. :hmr:

It was also before 3D became a horrendous overused gimmick.
