Terminator: Genisys - Part 7

I hope it kills Alan Taylor's career, or at least back to directing TV where he seems to belong.

question two. you have a time machine. you can type in the location ,date and year. you decide to go into the future to stop genisys 1 day before skynet goes online? Kyle told his young self the date. why would you give yourself only 24 hours?

Less time for Skynet to send a robot or robots to stop you.

To think I initially defended Jai when he was cast, by saying that he had done some decent indy work - like in Felony.

Never again, Jai...never again.

Jai Courtney must know how much film nerds despise him.

He feeds on it.

He probably took this role just to troll people.

Why?

The guy sucks in every major movie. He hasn't earned my confidence.

Jai Courtney eats puppies, but only the ones that MessiahDecoy loves

Jai was good in Spartacus. Since then however...

free ticket.

lets start with questions. how dumb do you have to be to writte a movie where a terminator has real skin that ages..........and also grows/regenerates back over time?

Every human's skin can regrow and regenerate to some degree if it's damaged but that doesn't mean it doesn't age and lose its elasticity and develop wrinkles over time . Why would expect it to be any different with the human skin that covers the T-800?

there isn't going to be a next one, this is a complete bomb

That's debatable...both T3 & Salvation had mediocre performances & still got sequels. So with that said, if this one does end up making $300-$400 million worldwide there will likely be a sequel. If overseas numbers keep steady, they'll make another.

Hell, Terminator has more of a chance at getting a sequel than Ted, I know that much. :mnm:

Is it because is a superhero movie that people are looking forward to?

Because, as far as we know, he's playing a cocky, gruff jerk and with his natural accent. It's definitely in his wheelhouse, as opposed to Kyle Reese. And he's hardly the World's Most Terrible Actor in Everything... just completely wrong for Kyle. I haven't seen Spartacus, but people keep saying he was good in that. I did see him in Jack Reacher, and he played his role then.

So much fanboy hate for Jai Courtney is hilarious.
Its too good.

He lacks charisma and range and skill and was a poor choice for Kyle Reese. What do you expect fans of the original film to do? Be glad that they cast him as Kyle Reese. And he didn't exactly help himself with some of his comments about Biehn and the original Kyle Reese.

 it's mentioned in T2 that the skin heals, so it's also logical to think it will age as well.

He's signed on for 3 films so why would that be if he was such a wrong choice for Kyle Reese?
That's what I don't get. He was never going to be like the original but yeah what did people exactly want from him...
People say he was too buff. Really. Ok then. He was a soilder in a post apocalyptic future where maybe there is a shortage of food but when this is in the same continuity as the other films I can understand some of the complaints well... some.

how would skynet know that they are going in 2017? the t-5000(Matt) knew that John send Kyle to 1984 to protect Sarah. in 1984 Sarah wanted to go to the 90's. John (t-3000) only knew what the t-5000 knew. the Genesys project only happened because the t-5000 attacked John and so changed the whole timeline. but the t-5000 couldnt know. because the new time and Kyle's memories started to happen while he was traveling.

maybe i got it wrong.

healing as small scars healing. in TG it regrows over his whole arm and a big part of his face.

If Paul Walker had lived he would have been a perfect Reese or even Garrett Hedlund since he was also in the running to be Kyle Reese

But Jason Clarke I thought that he was awesome as John Connor as the T-3000 playing 2 sides to one character, not only did he make a great convincing good guy but he was even more effective as a Terminator as a villain and he was so convincing that you could actually believe that Skynet was doing the right thing

But with Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor she wasn't that bad as Sarah she was an okay Sarah Connor but definitely not who I would have gone with in the role but as for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Arnie he was probably the only good thing about Genisys

That and Matt Smith of Dr. Who fame as Skynet, Matt Smith as the overall villain if Genisys has a sequel then I can definitely see him as a Terminator especially since his character said himself that he is Skynet so he will be born regardless of any outcome

Even though I hate the movie with a passion I will give the movie some faint praise;

1. I was pretty angry with how baby faced the female lead looked but I watched Terminator 1 last weekend and wow, she is a dead ringer for young Linda Hamilton. The buff hardened warrior in T2 is how I always pictured Sarah Conner but in Terminator she has a slender body and babyish features. From facial stand point it was good casting (acting was rubbish, though).

2. I really enjoyed the first ten minutes and 'storming the tower' to gain control of the time machine. In truth, that should have been the whole movie.

Other than that, I thought the movie sucked.

But the fight scenes I thought made up for the movie being so sucky, especially the opening fight scene in 1984 with Pops fighting the T-800 the younger version of himself and Sarah coming to Pops' rescue too or even in 2029 seeing Kyle and John fighting side by side in the war

If Paul Walker had lived he would have been a perfect Reese.

He really wouldn't. He may have looked the part better than Courtney but Walker is also a bland choice. Should probably have went with Boyd Holbrook.

Or Wilson Bethel as Reese would have been perfect but I hear Tom Hardy he was also in consideration for the role of John Connor
