Just saw it. At least it's better than TS, I'll give it that. That stems from 2 aspects: Having Arnold back and the fact that Taylor's still at least a better director than McG. This had plenty of 'bits' that were cool individually but ultimately this just doesn't make sense. That's what happens when you hire bargain basement writers I guess. I'm giving this a 5/10.

So in this series: T1>T2>T3>TG>TS

A slow but steady regression of quality is mildly upset by the 5th film being better than the abominable 4th movie. Well just let me give a big hoorah! to that.:whatever:

So that Terminator attack from T1, where Kyle Reese loses his picture of Sarah in the fire, never happened in Genisys future war. Because Kyle still had it when he was stripping for the time machine. Another reason to dislike this movie, no matter how minor.

Another plot hole, no doubt.

So did Cameron plan to turn Conner into a machine originally but never got to it? Or is all this new?

I saw this last night, Ugh. I could go on and on about plot holes, bad writing etc. but really it's not worth it. Bad film. On nearly all levels. I can't in any way understand how this got the green light. ANY way. How do you walk into a room, pitch "we're going to tread all over the legacy of those two films everyone loves" and walk out with hundreds of millions of dollars to make this garbage.

Terminator 2
The Terminator
Terminator Salvation
Terminator 3
Terminator Genisys

At least Salvation tried something new and different. 3/10.

From what I know the answer is no. Cameron was happy with the ending of T2 being open ended. If you have not already seen T1-2 I highly recommend it.

From what little I've heard the plan to make Connor a machine at least was part of Terminator Salvation but got shouted down once the information leaked.

Actually the future we see in the movie is not the Genisys future, it is the future where Judgment Day happened in 1997. I think all the criticisms being thrown at this movie is misplaced.

I thought the plan for Salvation was to replace Connor with a terminator double.
I liked the ending that they chose.

I liked TS but the tone was too drab and if I'll choose which of that and this is enjoyable, I'll have to say Genisys was the enjoyable one.

I know, by saying "Genisys future" I meant the Genisys movie future. And this is suppose to be the T1 future, if I understood correctly, since we see how Kyle got sent to the past. So that picture of Sarah Kyle had, should have been burned. And Kyle would have memorized her every facial features, falling in love with her, as he told in T1. But nothing like that in this piece of **** movie. It's just meathead Kyle "I'll save her boss! Ougha!". There's none of that anxiety or pain in Courtneys performance that was visible in Michael Biehn's. **** this movie.

Except this is a different timeline. A result of the events seen in T1 and T2. Though perhaps not even that since Judgement Day, in the Genisys timeline seen at the beginning, happened in 1997. And in T2, they stopped it from happening altogether and/or delayed it to 2003, depending on what you accept as canon.

So honestly, it's possible this was just one of SEVERAL timelines that exist in the Terminator universe. Each different from the others.

One where the Sarah Connor Chronicles happened; another where Judgement day was stopped in T2, and the future seen in alternate ending came to pass; Another where T3 happened, resulting in Judgement Day in 2003, and the events/alternate war future seen in Salvation.

There's different timelines, with several different fates for these characters.

Continuity errors with the future war of an alternate timeline, and discrepancies between how these characters act in different timelines, is a silly thing to complain about.

Sebastian Stan should have played Kyle Reese. He's a better actor and he looks like Biehn.

A cardboard standee of Michael Biehn would have been a better Reese than Courtney.

Given the shortlist they had, I still cannot understand why they chose Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke over Brie Larson and Boyd Holbrook.

Just from a visual standpoint, they were better choices. But the fact that they're better actors than Clarke and Courtney doesn't hurt.

I see now that everyone on the internet hates this movie. Sounds like the studio screwed up a wet dream.

The bigger T1 and T2 lover you are, the more embarassing and insulting Terminator Genisys will be for you. This is garbage. As bad as the trailers looked.

T1: 9.5/10
T2: 9/10
T3: 5/10
TS: 5.5/10
TG: 3.5/10

I suspect Clarke was chosen to milk some buzz from Game of Thrones.

No idea why Courtney was chosen. Dude has zero charisma.

Easy

Clarke knows Taylor from Game of Thrones. Also Clarke has a bigger fanbase than Larson.
Courtney is the next "it guy" that Hollywood is pushing (for no good reason) so they wanted to capitalize on that

Were those the right decisions? No. Not at all. But I see why they did it.

Im kinda glad Larson didnt get it. I love her as an actress and really want to see her do better. Genisys wouldnt have helped her at all

He's been the next it guy for like 4 years. It usually doesn't take this long. He's not a leading man. Look what Chris Pratt was able to do. If you have it it will shine through.

Huh? The resistance didn't send John back, SkyNet did.

When did i say the resistance? maybe i wasn't totally clear - the people behind the camers, the writers.

Why did they feel it was important to send JC back? Why did they feel he needed to be a Terminator?

JC is this hero, a warrior - we are used to seeing him out on the battle field - not in a suit, played by an actor that altho is good, was totally miscast. Why did sky net send him back when it had a million better options - like a T1000

so there are multiple universes out there - this seems so far fetched from the world cameron created.

I don't. It feels very empty/pointless. Nothing really progressed/changed, except that Marcus (the character that we were just introduced to/getting to know) died, that's it. And then there's the stupidity of exactly HOW they were able to perform a freaking heart transplant in the first place under those conditions.

Well... I'm not saying he's is an IT guy I'm saying that's how Hollywood is seeing him.

Also I havent seen Hollywood pushing him for that long. Really only since AGDTDH which came out in 2013...2 years ago. And really he only has had 2 starring roles come out: AGDTDH and this.

On your point about time it takes. Life is weird, Chris Pratt wasnt a hit in a day or even a year. He's been acting steadily for many years and appeared in his share of crappy/mediocre movies. He worked hard on his craft to become the "it guy" right now. Same could be same about almost every actor and actress.
McConaghey (or however you spell it) had starring roles since like 96 and it was only recently that mainstream audiences have cared about him other than rom coms. I think it's very rare that an actor starts their career and is a big success the whole time. The only one I can think of is Will Smith who has been big since Fresh Prince.

Im not defending Courtney in that I think he's a good actor or anything. Im just saying that your logic doesnt really fit.

My 70 year old dad saw it and basically said, and I quote, "what the **** was that?" He said they basically destroyed everything that the first two movies built.
