Terminator: Salvation - Part 3

I liked this movie a lot... it wasn't as good as 1 or 2 though. I don't really understand why people by the masses "hate" this film, disapointed...maybe, but why is this movie absolutely loathed? IF the rumors are true about arnold coming back, it'll make my day. But being half way realistically, i'm betting he'll be the bad guy in one of the Avatar movies, Expendables II, or whatever that graphic novel/comic book adaption is...though terminator has it's share of comic books and EU.

I guess he's going with "The Governator" comic book/animated series... :(

these movies are still great. the first one still holds up well and i really want to see them make at least one more film. 3 had its moments but wasnt the best in the franchise, however i did find it entertaining and it built on a story that most already assumed was over. salvation took it one step further and brought us into a part inbetween all the films that none of us really ever heard about aside from the fact that the t-600s were easily indentified with their rubber faces. it was untreaded ground. and the fact that skynet is learning from what its done and things are happening faster as a result should open up a whole bunch of ideas and possibilities for sequels, or at least one more.

i remember shortly after salvation there was an interview that mentioned something about how the next film was going to have john conner be sent back in time or the guy that played the t-1000 having something to do with his face being molded onto that bot. the idea of the t-1000 is intriguing, however itd be cool to see some kind of machine between the t-850 and the t-1000 if it were to be a prototype of some sort. then again we could see something inspired by the t3d ride at universal with the liquid metal monster. that would be cheesy but if they could think of something like that as a throwback to that short would be really cool. i still think having arnold come back but not as a robot would be cool. then we could see where the inspiration came from, maybe he escaped from skynet when john conner sent everybody free in salvation. im sure the next film will focus moreso on the creation of the time displacement machine, but i really dont want to see anybody go back in time again. weve already seen the old future, somebody sent back and changed the present, which is a totally different universe now that time was tampered with and it set into motion a whole new culmination of events. if somebody were sent back in time again, it would just make it too confusing. the only place to go next is forward. i dont see what else they can get out of this franchise so it would be nice to see one more film focused on representing an ending idea to the franchise. arnold doesnt need to be involed, but like i said, a hardened escaped prisoner or veteran (i dont kno why i see bill from left4dead in my head) portrayed by arnold would be a welcome change. complete with a beard and all and i would be all for it lol

Could Vin Diesel Make An Appearance In Terminator 5?

I was lucky enough to attend the “Fast Five” junket in Rio over the weekend (can I get a ‘hell yeah!?) where I spoke to both cast and crew about the very-fun “Ocean’s Eleven”-esque installment of that very, very popular series (the people of Rio went cwazy for Vin, Rock and Paul – and fair enough!).
Justin Lin, the film’s director, was recently reported to be up for directing duties on a new “Terminator” film for Universal, and almost immediately rumours began to swirl – particularly at the junket – that Vin Diesel might be in line for a role in the film. Fair assumption, after all, Vin and Justin are not only good friends but they’ve now worked together several times (if you include Vin’s cameo in “Tokyo Drift”) and are already planning to work together again.

While Lin is open to the idea of his “Fast” lead taking on Skynet, the only person he has approached so far about “Terminator 5” is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Still, it’s not out of the question.

“Vin’s been a really great partner on this franchise”, Lin says of the duo’s involvement in the “Fast” series. “We’ve talked about the mythology [of the Terminator series]…[pause] he’s a great guy and a great actor. I really like working with him so anything I do I usually talk to him about. Sometimes we even talk about going back and doing a little indy movie.”
So can we expect Vin in “T5” or not!?

“You never know”, says an unrevealing Lin.

I like Vin Diesel in the Riddick movies and don't care about anything else he is in. But he might be cool to have in a Terminator film.

I'm strangely quite pleased with the idea of Diesel as a Terminator.

The man is mustard first of all, he's a legit badass.

But all things considered I'd rather not have another kids Terminator film. For a film about Terminators, Salvation had zero terminations. That was embarrassing.

Diesel as a Terminator? That's a crepy thought, IMO. Would defenitely work, if you ask me.

Well, he works best as a creepy dude. Pitch Black is probably still his best role.

I should really have these on Blu-ray by now but I got put off hearing a bad review of T2's transfer. Is that the normal copy and the Skynet version any better? Or are they both rubbish? I want them :(

I can go and buy them in a minute--I only live round the corner from HMV. Any takers?

I think a Terminator reboot would be the only way to make a successful new film now. They've had 4 films with 3 differing directors and 3 very different approaches in terms of style; this has also led to conflicting story points and it's generally got a bit messy. Not to mention the TV series which again conflicts with the story arc in the movies.

Best thing would be a clean reboot, and go for a new lead like Vin Diesel or the like in the role. Arnie is getting too old to keep trying to include him in Terminator films.

I agree. Find a fresh way to f*** it up.

wasn't Cameron supposedly working on a new blu ray for the first Terminator film? i've held off on buying it because of that but it's been almost 2 years since it was announced and nothing :cmad:

Vin Diesel & The Rock as The Terminators = awesomeness after seeing them together in the Fast Five promos

All I want to know is why was Salvation so panned?

I just saw it recently, and I loved it!

Well I did notice Amazon had a listing for a Terminator Blu-Ray Book to be released in May but other than that I dunno.

Get Lin far freaking away from T5.

far away? why?

At least Justin Lin has shown some talent in his directing compared with McDonalds man McG,

at least Lin knows how to direct some decent action. Frankly, I think a low budget reimagining is the only way forward. They have to think of a way of retelling T1 but implement new ideas and not just make it a scene for scene remake. Make it a scary horror movie again, not some waterd down Salvation garbage.

You can fix that crap that was Salvation and T3. They killed this series.

And you can't expect an old pensioner like Arnold to play a terminator. The terminator should look the same as its a machine. T1 and T2 were fine as Arnie was in his prime years, didn't change very much in his appearance, but by T3 his age was showing badly.

In T3 he barely got away with it, did you see how old he looked? now he would look like an old fart. it would be a pathetic sight to see.

Unless they de-age him with CGI, but then we all saw how crappy arnie looks like in CGI in Salvation.

Diesel as a Terminator would be awesome. That could work definitely.

And today's the day Skynet goes online? Weird.

I need my daily Terminator fix, please make T5!

I just hope its better than the past 2 movies. Which have be very disappointing. I'd rather them take their time and plan this right.
