^ Very nice. I could see more liquid metal elements in a sequel to Terminator Salvation, especially the cop returning.

So, I finally watched it this past weekend. It wasn't so bad. Just mostly boring.

Like I said many times with other people, Terminator Salvation had everything going for them in terms of production but the script and some of the direction was dry and boring.

I re-watched it on TNT because I like watching even crappy Terminator movies and I was honestly trying to give it another chance because I so want to like it but it just flat out doesn't work as a film or as a Terminator film.

It still feels like a fractured, cobbled together movie. The acting ranges from decent (Yeltchin), to bland (Bale), to bland and bad (Worthington), and the dialogue is just flat out no good or interesting in anyway. The movie is one, pretty well directed, action scene after another with very little story in between and it's cheesy in the worst way possible.

It's frustrating because I want it to work but it just doesn't. Even the Terminators don't seem as dangerous because they just throw people around in this film!

The good news is that the special effects still look excellent.

I thought it made Skynet look more dumb than they already appeared to be.

Arnie Talks TERMINATOR 5 Appearance; Says It WILL Follow On From SALVATION

“I can’t say to much they want it held in secret if you know what I mean, but I will say that next year I will start filming it and it’s going to be one of the hardest films I have ever done I can tell you that already for sure”, Schwarzenegger said “… they have six months set aside just for filming, so I will be training and getting into the best physical shape I possibly can before filming starts. It does follow Salvation although some of the producers and franchise owner were not too happy about the job McG did with it but they felt it was good enough to continue on and they want the fifth and sixth installments to be the closing of the franchise.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger

The more and more I think about it, they have to go with the old soldier route. With arnie dying and John Connor surviving as the leader in victory sending Reese back to the past.

I don't see how he can be a Terminator again either.

I think the only way he can be in the movie is with him being the human that they modeled the Terminator on and I want to see how they got time travel like who made the machine.

Imagining Bale returning as JC along with an old war veteran played by Arnold... *drools*

that would be pretty amazing. bale returning, with a good director instead of mcg and his.....just do what you feel type style.

arnold as the old vet whos likeness was used and jc rising to even bigger power would be great.

That's exactly what I was thinking!

And this time I'd appreciate an actual rise to power, not that half-assed subplot we got in T4.

Well, if they are following Salvation I hope they can get Bale back and at least give him something to this time, also, focus on the story, TS messed so many things up from the lore it was silly.

Ehh I doubt bale will return tbh most likely a recast. Also for some reason i get the feeling arnold still thinks he's going to be playing a terminator still.

I didn't get that. And I hope they don't recast. John Connor and the Hulk are really getting inconsistent in terms of actors who portray them.

You never know with Bale, he is a guy that flits between arty films and blockbuster types, and he was interested in the Terminator lore and signed for 3 movies when he signed on, so he is interested in the future of the franchise, I think he could be persuaded to come back.

Dangle a Duncan Jones or a Neil Blomkamp in front of him and I think he'll jump at it.

There's no way either of those guys will want to helm the sequel to terminator salvation following the great mcg.

The franchise is tainted i can't see it attracting any high talent. The only reason its been given a second life is arnold's decision to come back.

They need a good script that goes back to what made Terminator such a great flick: The fact that it's an action/sci-fi film and not a pure actioner. It'd be a very good start.

TS underperformed. WB thought that Bale is a movie star. nope.

Bale is coming back if TDKR underperforms. it will not.
