And it will suck, twice as hard.

PLEASE TERMINATE THIS FRANCHISE.

Yeah, Lions Gate just doesn't have the capacity to do a big budget franchise. Sure it doesn't need the $200 million that Terminator: Salvation got, but it needs more than the incredibly low budget Lions Gate.

How on earth does a 15-million dollar bid win the rights to a 500-million dollar title?

Lions Gate doesn't have the rights yet. The $15 million stalking horse bid is primarily designed to cut out ridiculously low bids like Joss Whedon's mock $10,000 bid. Sony, Summit, Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures, and Media Rights Capital have to top Lions Gate's $15 million + 5% future gross receipts to win.

EDIT: Seriously the Hype lag is starting to really tick me off :cmad:

I think it was a mistake to ever continue this without Cameron.

Well...pretty much for WB and Sony (especially the latter), not so much Holycon

Did Salvation make a profit or what?

Pretty much what BatMatt said :o

And considering that Terminator: Salvation made good money for Sony and Warner Bros. having most of the rights to the Terminator franchise already, I would see them topping the Lions Gate bid with ease if they want to since they have a far better ability to pay more than Lions Gate.

I rather have the WB or Universal pick this baby up.

What's up with the SHH website, its always crashing, even our mod hippie_hunter is having issues with double posts. :hehe:

Cameron can go and suck a lemon.

I want a new director, a new story* and a new studio**. Cameron has done great with T-Series and done everything we could to launch the series with two bangs. But even he said he is done with Terminator, so bye bye J-man make those Avatar sequels...but this time around hire some better writers for those sequels. :woot:

* But still following TS's story.

** Warner Bros.

I would prefer Cameron come back, but that's mainly because at this point I have doubts that anyone new will come along and make this series great again.

I'm hopeful, a gritty $50 mill Terminator would be refreshing after two watered down plotless CG fests.

At 50 mill, it'll probably be a feel good PG rated family comedy...:o

It is still possible that a Terminator movie could be a success.

A cheap mid budget 30 to 50 million movie with a good story could do well.

I believe the only way to fix this mess of T3 and T:Salvation is to get a writer who can somehow reboot the events of T3 and find a way of creating a series without the need for an Arnie Terminator or a John Connor or Sarah Connor. Yes, they were integral to the 1st 2 movies, but i'm sure a new ingenious spin on time travel can be created.

What I mean is that we need an ingenious way to take the story back to present day before Judgement day, introduce a new hard Terminator from the future, a grimey looking movie with good unknown actors, a dirty Synthesized soundtrack score, and relying more on practical effects, than CGI.

There is a way to do it, but that writer needs to be found.

Cameron was clever, he knew anything beyond a second Terminator 2 film would be getting into some seriously confusing and murky water. Now he can fake outraged indignation alongside the fans at what the franchise has become, when in reality he knows himself how difficult it would have been to continue what he started.

Not so sure about that, he changed the ending of T2 to still make a Terminator 3 a possibility. He was still considering a return to the franchise at that point.

I dont think thats the case anymore but for a time I do believe he considered doing it.

Either way, I kinda hope Lionsgate dont get the rights.

Didn't the studio lean on him to change the ending?

If he really cared about his "baby" you would think that he would feel obliged to step up and take the bull by the horns.

The studio suggested it, I dont think it was forced on him, I think they suggested it and he agreed.

50 million Hard R Terminator film directed by Blomkamp that ignores Salvation as some alternate timeline would be awesome.

I think if they move forward with a new film, its more than likely bale wouldnt be involved?

But there really is no reason to ignore Terminator: Salvation. The only time a reboot is necessary is when you have a really, really, really bad film that taints the franchise like Batman & Robin or when you have a massive span of time between the previous two films like Superman IV and Superman Returns (don't get me wrong I loved Superman Returns, but a reboot would have been the best route to go).

Terminator: Salvation really worked as a summer blockbuster film. Sure it doesn't live up to par with the masterpieces that are James Cameron's Terminator films, but it's not a bad film either. And if Sony or Warner Bros. get the rights, you know that they're going to want to get started on a new Terminator film right away for a 2011 or 2012 release date so having a reboot when it's only been three or four years since the last film which wasn't absolute garbage just feels wrong.
