Terminator: Salvation - The NEW new thread

I'll watch Salvation 500 times before I'll watch T3 again.

Or

gasp......................................................

I could like a movie you don't.

HOLY **** RIGHT?

Personally, I think T3 and T4 are about the same, this may change after a few re-watches of T4 (for the worse more likely).

I personally dont think and have never thought T3 is as bad as a lot of people make out.

And I honestly didn't see what was so bad about Salvation.

I've probably never felt so indifferent about a movie in my life. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't good either. It was just...meh. There was absolutely nothing new here. The whole thing just felt worthless.

I was one of the most ardent haters of this film pre-release, and even I am suprised it has been near universally panned by the fans. I'm happy it turned out that way though.

I'm surprised you hated it pre-release. Everything about TS looked and sounded so incredible.

I guess I never had the years of waiting and coming up with my own idea of what "should" happen. I watched the first three back to back about a month or two before the release of this film, and it was pretty good in my opinion. It was a necessary step I feel. It was needed to bridge the gap between the past and the future. We needed that transition movie, and frankly this delivered it. If we had gone straight to the full out war in 2029 so much stuff would be missed. People would go "Hey what happened in the last thirty years?" Jumping 30 years is too much. We go from John Connor as a foetus to about ten years later as a kid to about another 10 years later as a teenager to about 10-15 years later as an adult. Based on the time between each film this fits and it was the perfect setup for the next film.

Do I think it was perfect? No, there were a bunch of continuity issues but frankly they were things I didn't catch until people on these boards put their sweat, blood and money into trying to find reasons to hate a movie because people love to hate sequels.

Some fans are just way too nit-picky and the same goes for Original Trilogy Star Wars fans that think the PT was garbage and uneeded. I call ********. It explored a necessary time frame but that's not to say they didn't have some flaws (like being too kid friendly, miscasting Anakin, forced love dialogue or a convoluted plot for AOTC). They were still entertaining and fit the world created appropriately.

I saw again recently, wasnt as bad as i remembered. Still full of plot holes and could of been way better though.

Flaws tend to stand out and get picked on more on bad films, purely because there's not much positive factors to counteract with. Has nothing to do with hate. When you're discussing a film, day in and day out, if there's more bad than good than that's what people will focus on.

You look at this thread, and the Star Trek thread, and you can see just how completely different the tone is.

You were probably following it more closely than I do, and you are entitlted to your opinion, but to say it looked incredible is an overstatement. It looked like a cheezy action film with no depth or substance, much like T3.

I bet a lot of people -me included- were holding back because of effin' McG.

No surprise to see the rights are being auctioned, wonder were that leaves the franchise though?

No surprise at all as we heard this was going to happen forever ago.

I would love for Summit to get the rights so they can turn it into a teen franchise and cast some of those Twilight kids. I would love to see how freaked out the fanboys would be.

Yea it was know for awhile that they would need to be selling the rights. I wonder what studio/company/person is going to grab the rights. As for future projects films/etc.... We are bound to get something in the near future.

And I honestly didn't see what was so bad about Salvation.

For me there are two things that made me lower the rating for TS
1 Bale's constant screaming. Mind you i'm a big big fan of Bale and i do think he is a very gifted actor. However i just couldn't understand why he was constantly shouting. For example the scene in the beginning when he talks to the base. COntact is made and he just shouts "HERË !" or something like that. PErsonally i would've thought that a tired voice could've worked better.
Ditto with the scene where Marcus escapes from the rebel base and get's napalmed. He goes on to save John and when he goes back into the water Bale still screams at him.

2 The ending. EVerything in the movie worked out fine till the end when they suddenly need to perform a heart transplant. I really was facepalming at that scene. IMO the idea of Marcus was a good one and we really didn't need a scene where Jon gets stabbed in the heart. Either have him get stabbed in such a way that he can't fight , leaving Marcus to save john and in the process destroying the terminator but gets so damaged that he ends up dying.

Aside from these 2 , i thought TS was an good movie . Not on par with the 1st and 2nd one but a huge improvement over the 3rd one.

And going back to the rights issue , i think that SOny will wind up with the rights and should a sequel be made , they'll probably work with WB again.

Rights are being auctioned. James Cameron for the REAL T3? Ahh, we can dream

yea for me i liked TS a bit more then T3, sure it wasnt as good as T1 or T2 but it still had its charm to me.

man that would be cool if cameron bought the rights back, but i highly doubt that will happen. But it would be a surprisely interesting move.
