Terminator: Salvation - The NEW new thread

Considering the success of Titanic and Avatar, I'm surprised that FOX haven't made a move on the rights.

Probably because unlike Warner Bros. and Sony, Fox has no connection to the Terminator franchise and unlike Lions Gate, Fox has lots of franchises that it can depend on. Along with the fact that James Cameron will never make another Terminator film, Fox just has no need for it.

They can't sell box sets of it since Warner Bros has the North American rights to the last two films, might end up owning the first film, and owns the television series. If Warner Bros bids on it, they can promote the series all they want using the previous entries asides from Terminator 2.

They should have made the JC in T3 17, 18 and it would have been fine for him to act like he did. Nick Stahl didnt do nothing wrong for me, good performance with what he was given, but the character was written too young for him.
I'm not trying to diss Nick Stahl as an actor but I never would have cast him for Connor at any age. I just imagine Connor to be more of a badass all through his life. My problem was mainly with the writing of the character though.

Yea Stahl was not bad, but he was miscast, and the writing/direction was all in the wrong way. And I don't know if I would use the word "badass" but kinda solemn and stern is what I kinda expected. Future John in T2 always kinda made me think that.

Badass obviously wasn't the best word to use. "Attitude" is a better word to discribe my feelings about the character's personality.

I always saw future John Connor as a tough, solem guy with inspirational leanings. To be honest I wasn't happy with Bale as adult Connor either and wouldn't have wanted him cast as the character even in a better written movie...but thats just me. It's not a knock on Bale either, it's just my opinion.

Connor started as a sarcastic, smart ass kid and then completely changed in the next 2 films (and even in the TSCC)

I know ppl can change and I understand that John would have given the circumstances, but I don't believe that a person could completely change and leave no signs of their previous personality.

Sarah Connor changed, but at least you could see some of her T1 personality in T2

In short: John Connor was a very inconsistent character.

I agree with this, Bale, it's hard to say, I did not care for him in TS, but would he suited it better if it was directed/written differently? Maybe. But I don't know for sure so I can't really say. But there are proabaly many other great actors out there that could be John that have not been considered for the part before.

I think that the John from that T.V show was very close to the one in T2 so I have to disagree with you on that point.

The Connor on the show seemed to have an attitude and even looked the same.

I didn't watch it alot so maybe I shouldn't be speaking on the subject.

He was not horrible, but the whole show just was really bad in my opinion, some things they got right with the characters but to me so much more wrong. He wasn't bad though. The rest of the show I could not stand.

^I'm not a fan of the show either. It was too boring and I didn't care for the Headey's portrayal of Sarah Connor. She seemed too girly for the role and her voice was to soft for my taste.

There is only one Sarah Connor.

I didnt have that much of a problem with Stahl or Bale to be honest. Stahl's Connor should have been written better and younger, remember, it wasnt JD yet, he didnt become this inspirational person until after the events of JD.

But TS definately dropped the ball on this point, Bale's JC was written poorly, and should have been MUCH more inspiring. The scene which immediatly springs to mind if when Barnes asks JC if his brother made it. Connor just grabs his shoulder, here he should have been much more inspiring, telling Barnes something that wouldnt get him down.

Couldnt agree more. 100%

Is the BD worth to get if i already have the DVD? Hows the Director Cut?

The DVD sales seem to be holding up quite well against other movies which have been out longer, I wonder if Avatar has anything to do with it?

More people wanting to see Sam Worthington in another movie, etc. Just thought it may be an interesting point.

I def picked up the DVD with one of the factors being Sam Worthigton...

Hhhmmm, i'll bet other people have done the same. Dont think we will be getting a sequel out of it but its interesting the impact Avatar is having on TS as the films and the people invovled share a few coincidences.

I believe they sharre more than that.

Avatar has some of the same problems TS did.

ok, i know i'm about to get some heat for this, but I think TS is my favorite movie of '09. I just wish I woulda got the target exclusive instead of the single disc w/ no special features. that's my biggest gripe w/ the movie, the dvd. lol.

It's no where near as bad as some like to suggest.

How much is added to the Target exclusive?

I think you can watch it in both versions depending on the options you choose, and it has a digital copy and 30 minutes of bonus material. it's two disc, but it's basically what 1 disc sets used to have back in the heyday of dvds. (when LotR, PotC1, S-M1-2 and X2 first went on dvds and 2-disc not only was the standerd and only $20, but came filled with tons more features than today. oh how i miss the '00s.)
