and seconded. I tried to explain to a friend who really liked the movie why so many people hated the movie, and he just looked at me like "seriously?" and now he think all fan boys gripe and complain way to much. haha, he kinda has a point tho.

I really like the action sequence which starts off with the gigantic robot and ends with the planes... too bad nothing at the end was more epic than that...
i felt the build-up to the final fight was kinda weak... but overall good movie

^Is that supposed to be a compliment?

Also I thought The Future was refering to people complaining about the lack of special feature on DVD's now or days?

I was referring to a few things. I mean take for example the stick Bale has taken. Now I'm not a fanboy of his by any means, for one he should be challenging himself much like Sean Penn has challenged himself. Milk showed that he's a lot more than just a tough guy actor. So I can't stress that enough, I'm not a Bale fanboy.

However, I really think he was harshly treated by critics and fans a like. John Connor was a secondary character in Terminator Salvation, and one that wasn't greatly written. Bale didn't have a lot to work with, and I thought he did the best he could with the material in front of him. Now you may say "what about the constant shouting? There's no excuse for that." I don't think that's a fair criticism either because if you look at the scenes in which he is "shouting", such as when he's on to base after the opening action scene and when he's letting Marcus go in the woods, what is happening in these scenes? Open warfare and combat where gunshot sounds, bombs and choppers are all contributing to make a large amount of racket in your ears. Realistically speaking Connor is shouting because his ears are likely shot from all the large noise. That's why he's shouting, he doesn't realise that he's shouting.

As for the film itself, judging it on its own two feet it was a good film. Certainly one of the better action films I have seen in the last few years. The problem though is that a lot of people are not judging TS as a standalone film and are comparing the film to Cameron's films. Now that's your right, you are allowed to expect a certain level of quality from a franchise that you are greatly fond of. However for me personally I think it was greatly unfair to expect McG to produce a level of quality akin to what Cameron produced.

That being said I don't think McG did the best he could have done. Instead of ordering rewrites to an already horrific script he should have had the courage to rip it up and tell Nolan to start a fresh. Again though, maybe McG's hands were tied and didn't have the influence to say to the studio "this film has to be delayed as the script is not good enough." So yeah, I don't know, it's hard to judge McG because I don't know the facts.

To be fair, I wasnt expecting something on the level of the Cameron movies, but I did expect better than T3 with the talent involved.

And is it too much to ask that the movie stays consistent with previous entries? There were just too many mistakes for me.

It comes down to personal taste, and for me TS was a considerable step up from T3. The latter was a camp retreading of old water with bits of originality added here and there.

I didn't really get hung up on the mistakes, the only one that I thought was a big clanger was Skynet not eliminating Reese the second the captured him.

My dad bought Terminator salvation on DVD along with District 9. so i'll be watching them for the first time soon.

I actually liked all of the terminator films, including T3. So i might like it.

Both films are flawed, but for me, T3 stuck much closer to the mythos of the previous than TS did and seemed to match with the other movies more than TS did.

Plus, not one scene in TS was as powerful as the ending of T3 for me.

Just watched it today, I liked it. Better then T3 I'd Say. But not as good as T2.
There were some areas that i was confused with.
Sam Worthington was great in it. Christian bale was ok, he sounded to much like batman.

I was expecting this to be really bad, But i was surprised, and overall I thought it was cool 8/10

I finally watched this a few days ago, it was MUCH better than I expected! Not as good as the first three IMO. Then again it might beat T3 slightly. Loved seeing the Arnie T-800 even if it was only for a few minutes. I hope to see two more sequels! (with hopefully some time travel?!)

You can wait and see but I'm going to live in the real world.

I'm sure there will be another Terminator flick in the future but it won't be a sequel to Salvation.

The only person that should take on the next story is Cameron himself. I know he doesn't give a rat's ass about the franchise as of late, but if he came back on board, it would be one of those game changers.

If it's an Avatar like gamechanger I say thanks but no thanks. Let ole Terminator die.

Well he , along with Ridley , did help to get Alien 4 the (hopefully) rightful treatement it deserved.

Yep. It didn't bomb but it was a big disappointment.

Yeah, and the DVD sales havent been too good either, they have picked up since Avatar was released, which I sort of expected, but its sold no were near as much as the likes of G.I Joe, Wolverine in the US.

^I felt the same way a few months ago but now I'm completely indifferent to this series.

Let TS be the last microchip to melt in lava of pop culture. If that makes any sense... Hey, anyone happened to visit Wikipedia? They had a feature article about "Bale out" and damn it is insanely catchy. Just listen:
