Really sad to see Edge retire. He was one of my absolute favorites. Some of my favorite live event memories were rabidly cheering him in MSG at the height of the anti-Cena movement, and getting yelled at for it by little kids who'd turn around and scream "EDGE STINKS" at me.

I gotta say, if they just caught this recently it's pretty amazing luck Christian got to come back in time for one last E&C reunion before he had to leave. We should all just be thankful they diagnosed him before he got seriously hurt, and appreciate all the great moments he gave us fans.

If there's any silver lining to this, it's that there's a possibility Christian could step up and take his place on Smackdown. The story's built in, and it would get a huge pop if he won the belt against Del Rio for his fallen partner.

Also, it sucks this is how the business works, but when one main eventer falls, another spot opens up. Hopefully someone talented is given the shot to take the ball and run with it. He'll be hard to replace but they need to move on and there's a lot of talented young guys who can grow into that spot

My thoughts on Raw:

-I agree with Metallo. This Michael Cole v. Jerry Lawler thing needed to be settled at Wrestlemania. The only purpose I can see left with this is if they use tonight as the groundwork to turn Swagger face. Seeds were certainly planted.

-Want to get me behind Dolph Ziggler? Throw R-Truth into the WWE Championship picture. At least Ziggler has potential to belong in the Title picture. R-Truth can go job out in TNA for all I care.

-The Edge news makes me incredibly sad. The past couple years saw Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels have their emotional departures. But those guys were before my time. I didn't see a Shawn Michaels match until I started watching WWE again in 2008. Now we're starting to lose *MY* guys, and now I'm starting to get sad. I knew he wasn't gonna be around for much longer, but this was unexpected. If his promo tonight was the truth tho, and I'm sure it was, then it's completely understandable. Sad, but he's gotta look out for his health.

-Sin Cara is the ****. I understand that he's debuting and all of that, but why is he wasting his time with Primo?

-So much for Nexus getting punted off the roster.

-Did R-Truth actually beat an opponent in the gauntlet match? Is R-Truth actually going to be in a title match? *le sigh*

I guess John Cena is winning the title at Extreme Rules. No way are they gonna let Miz continue to go over the golden boy.

P.S.: If Cena DOES hold the title for a year until Wrestlemania (I highly doubt it, just saying *if*) I'm gonna be pissed. The only way I want to see that be a title match is if The Rock is gonna win the title and stick around. Otherwise, I have no interest in seeing a year long Cena title reign.

Ok so looking back Edge has had a career resume that may never be replicated.

WWE Champion (4 times)
World Heavyweight Champion (7 times)
World Tag Team Champion (12 times)
WWE Tag Team Champion (2 times)
Intercontinental Champion (5 times)
United States Champion (1 time)
King of the Ring (2001)
Royal Rumble (2010)
Money in the Bank (2005, 2007)
14th Triple Crown Champion

Only man to ever win King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, and a Money in the Bank ladder match. That and he's the only man to ever have a live sex act celebration upon winning his 1st World Championship.

Not to mention one of the few people who have beaten John Cena multiple times.

Scott Keith summarizes my thoughts on the major things from RAW last night:

Geez, you leave for a weekend and the WWE gets upended.

- So Edge retires, as World champion no less, live on RAW, and I say good for him. He’s got nothing left to accomplish and I’d rather see him get out now than dragging along for years because he can’t let it go. And if this means that Christian gets bumped into main event status in his honor, then all the better.

- In other, more amusing, news, R-Truth getting an inexplicable main event push is apparently because John Morrison is incapable of shutting his damn mouth. Morrison, aka Melina’s brainless mouthpiece, spouted off about how Trish Stratus didn’t deserve a spot at Wrestlemania (say WHAAAAAT?) and how Melina should have been there instead (WT****?). Trish, in her diplomatic way, called Morrison out as a moron and suddenly any push for Johnny went down the toilet because Trish has actually drawn money and stuff and now I’m thinking Morrison and his shrieking girlfriend are on the chopping block. DUMP THE *****, JOHN. Unless TNA is your preferred destination.

I'm so saddened that Edge is gone, and this one actually came out of left field. Another great one from the attitude era retires.

Bye, Edge. One of the best of the past 14 years.

sad to hear about edge

he got alot of titles but I still never really felt he acheived superstardom (maybe thats just me though) he was a good worker though so its a shame

sin cara looked incredible again!!! he is like rey mysterio but waaaaaaay better - hope he keeps up all these bat **** crazy moves and doesnt get stale - that moonsaulty turnbuckle finishing move thing was literally insane!!!!

Cena should turn heel. He does the Superman comebacks as a face so much that I forget how more interesting he is when he's running the main offense. The brief match with R-Truth was pretty refreshing, something you don't see out of Cena often, something I haven't seen since his matches with Ziggler back in January.

It's partly that they have no one in position to take his place, but it goes beyond the basic show. WWE have created an entire PR arm around Cena and all the charity work and public appearances he does, the guy is a workhorse for promoting the company in a good light, so they will be reluctant to rock that boat by making him a heel, as the next top face they have will have to do more than just win over the fans, he will have to be able to do all of the other stuff that comes with the job, it's part of the reason Miz' push has lasted so long, he's done an awful lot of good work for the WWE on the media circuit and is a natural at that side of things.

I wondered if anything would come of that, odd that Taker gets fined for being hit with the chair. :funny:

I dont see the big deal with chair shot once in a while. christ there wrestlers who get there bodies slammed around week in and week out. concussions are unavoidable regardless what you take away, same as in the nfl. I wonder if vince and co were loosing ratings to another rvial like wcw if they would still ban chair shots or other stunts that draw ratings. people dont realize that the reason that sports like wrestling, ufc, nfl, hockey are popular because there the modern day roman death sports. We love to watch guys get there butts beat or see vicious hits, its just the way it is. What worse, Madden video games eliminating illegal head shots or this?

just watched tough enough, damn did not expect to see that.
why does wwe hate the indies so much? lol

oh yeah new tough enough! forgot about that

gonna go watch it now

Don't spoil it please! Haven't watched it yet.

We should give this thread an Edge themed title.

has edge vacated the heavyweight title then?

is it definitely not a work?

damn, one of my fav wrestlers of all time is retiring. That sucks

he's vacating the title on smackdown

give it to christian

hopefully edge isnt done with wwe - maybe he could carry on in a non wrestl- entertaining role

This is definitely not a work. Edge retiring is very unfortunate and puts WWE in a tough spot. Hopefully Mcmahon finally pulls the trigger on Christian as there are no other options left on Smackdown.

please WWE, put Morrison instead of R-Truth for the main event at Extreme Rules

Bret Hart Disappointed with WWE's WrestleMania 27, Puts Over Punk-Orton

Posted by Marc Middleton on 04/12/2011
- WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart recently spoke with SunSport about WrestleMania 27 and felt that it didn't live up to the hype, besides Randy Orton vs. CM Punk. Here are some quotes:

"I was a little disappointed with WrestleMania to be honest. I felt it was anti-climactic."

"I was hoping The Rock would be a little more interesting than he was. I would have had him involved in the John Cena v Miz match right off the bat. My initial thinking about two months ago was that Rock was going to be working with Cena and somehow Miz would be involved, and it would be a triple threat type of match. I thought Rock needed to be in the match, not just talking about it. Don't get me wrong — Rock is a great talent. Just looking at him, I think he is ready to get back in the ring. I'm sure he could have wrestled at WrestleMania and he should have done so. The excitement going in to WrestleMania this year was all tied in with Rock and when he didn't actually do anything but stand around and be a mouthpiece all night, that didn't really work. To me as a fan, if I want to see him be a mouthpiece then I'll watch one of his movies. I wanted to see him do some wrestling. I guess I just expected a little bit more."

"I also had to scratch my head and wonder how the WWE could pull the Sheamus v Daniel Bryan match and let Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole go for 30 minutes. It just seemed really crazy to me. My biggest disappointment was that two of the best wrestlers in the company, Bryan and Sheamus, didn't get a chance to show what they can do on a WrestleMania. I thought Lawler v Cole was built up really well, with most fans wanting to get their hands round Cole's neck by the time WrestleMania came. But I don't know why they went so long. It's not a match that needs to go very long. Michael Cole clearly can't actually do anything. That's the part I don't get. It should have been about four or five minutes long max. Sadly going so long, meant they really took all the light away from the other wrestlers that earned it through the year."

"He (CM Punk) has got a really good ring presence. Better than anyone else, CM Punk understands his wrestling persona. He's very serious about that character, and I like that passion that he has. It comes across in how he is day-to-day, just being around him. He's a very committed, serious professional. His match with Orton, I thought, was really credible. To put together the match the way they did I thought it complemented both wrestlers, and they really told a good story. I liked the story, I liked the finish. It had a lot of twists and turns, you weren't quite sure what was going to occur. I found myself going along with it all the way through and not knowing what was going to happen next — and to me that is a good wrestling match."

just watched tough enough, damn did not expect to see that.
why does wwe hate the indies so much? lol

I don't agree with that sentiment all. The person who got cut deserved to be cut.

please WWE, put Morrison instead of R-Truth for the main event at Extreme Rules

It's obvious his actions towards Trish Stratus have set him back. I think Morrison was originally penned for this match.

Yea now he has to see R-truth take his spot. Next time whatever problems your girl has leave them at home Morrison.
