"Thank You!" SHH, for the new spoiler-free policy!!!

i can appreciate the thought behind the announcement, but "spoiler" is an incredibly vague term. taking the Batman movie for example, the announcement of a character not expected to be in the film could be a spoiler, and that's happened twice now. discussion of those characters and their roles is going to be inevitable. is spoiler character? actor? plot outline? plot point? basically, anything could potentially be a spoiler.

the nature of this site is spoiler information and discussion. to deny that is to deny the raison d'etre; it's very existence. if you want to control it better, then get rid of the "latest post/thread" in each forum lobby, just have the links to each forum. but if this policy is going to be in place, then there should be a concrete definition of what a spoiler is and what it isn't.

yeah, that really pissed me off too. characters and/or "vehicles" or other important announcements. and why didn't/haven't the mods change the name of the title like they used to?? CHANGE THE NAME, at least?! But it's too late, a TON of stuff has been spoiled already :cmad:

I just don't want to see it continue happening. I don't want to find out who Anthony Michael Hall is on the SHH. :( Serve us well, Mods. Serve us well.

it doesn't bother me at all. if it did, i would never visit this website. i come here of my own free will knowing what the nature of the site is. i am completely responsible for my own actions and if anything posted that i read "ruins" something for me, that is my fault and not the fault of the poster who provided the info.

then i suggest you never visit SHH until after you've seen the movie. it sounds as if you wish this site to be something that it isn't and wasn't meant to be.

well the most obvious things would be major character deaths, and major plot twists in the films.("Venom DIES!", "Ra's is really Ducard!!!", etc.) The Hype doesn't really provide spoilers, the people that post here do. Most of the information that gets updated on this site, we end up seeing in the trailers, promos, etc. Aside from that I agree that we should have a clearer definition of what is and not a spoiler.

the Hype most certainly does provide spoilers, often on the homepage - even if they are just posting "scooper so and so" or "forum user so and so reports"; they are certainly complicit in doing so. and that's fine. i'm just saying that if there is going to be a policy about not posting spoilers when the whole site is spoiler heavy, then there is going to have to be some guideline as to what a spoiler is. it's like the old argument about pornography or obscene, "i don't know what it is, but i know it when i see it." you can't eat your cake and have it too.

I have to admit, this new rule is good. There have been 2 times where something was spoiled for me,because it was in the title of a thread.

I agree, but I think at it's most basic level people know when they should use discretion.
