They'll always be the Hartford Whalers to me... :(

But kudos for Carolina... they played great hockey all year long, and really showed depth of character in the playoffs. :up:

And congrats to my Flames' rivas the Oilers for an excellent playoff run. :up:

On the one hand, I'm kinda disappointed, but on the other, I'm just happy that Edmonton (an 8th seeded team) managed to make it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals.

Oh well, there's always next years. Congratulations Hurricanes for a great series :)

I'm sure if Edmonton won they would've done something like that. Someone was killed when Vancouver lost to the Rangers back in 1994.

I love when a series goes to seven games and I'm liking the trend that has been happening in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Go back and read the NHL and Fantasy Hockey (which i won) Threads. Fuzz was defending Mr.50% Johnny Grahame and Draven was depressed with the crappy play the Oilers had to start the season.

Just got back from the bar, in the last min of the game, the peeps in the bar I was at were all cheering for the OILERS!.... Some fans were even tearing up, it was very emotional.......... we just could not believe that it was over... ....I heard talk that some peeps are going to meet the OILERS at the airport tomorrow & show em how PROUD WE ARE OF THE TEAM! :up::up::up:


YOU CANT HIDE OUR EDMONTON OILER PRIDE!!!!!!!!

They may not be bringing home Stanley, but the OIL are Champions in my heart!

Hahaha. I picked the Hurricanes to win from the start. I could have cared less if they actually did win... but I gotta give myself props for picking them to win before the playoffs began. All of the people who picked the Hurricanes in this poll (other than myself) are bandwagoners who suck!

I heard Joey Moss punched Samsonov in the face for not playing hard after the game got over? :confused:

Kidding of course. I had no clue about that guy until I randomly saw him on the bench screaming the Canadien National Anthem in game 5. I saw him fast and was like "what the hell?" I looked up all of the Edmonton staff up on Wikipedia and found him... he sounds like a good guy.

Did anyone hear the Carolina player clearly say "Fu*k.." when he was holding the Stanley Cup? Heh, I think NBC screwed up by turning the audio on down on ice level. I heard the guy say "Fu*k" and then it faded out. He was saying something after that.
 
I was kinda rooting for the Oilers, but hey...Congrats are in order to the Hartford Whalers.

Congrats to the Hurricanes. If Detroit doesn't win it, I always root for the Detroit owned Carolina Hurricanes.

Hey, we Canadians aren't all sunshine and rainbows - you must have heard about all that extra police protection they had to put on Whyte Ave to calm down the drunken rioters that show up even when we win. :D

I'm sorry the Oilers lost, but really - they couldn't have lost a better way, if you ask me. They kept it going for seven games - they managed to stretch it out as long as they possibly could, and kept fighting to make the seventh game a genuinely suspenceful thing to watch.

I didwant the Oilers to win, but there's always next year, we've already won five times, and this is the Hurricanes' first Cup, am I right? Plus, it gives whole new meaning to the song "Rock you like a Hurricane". In the last couple of years, it's about time Hurricanes made a few Southerners happy instead of destroying property, eh?

I'm happy to say that I was on top of the pack for about 3 weeks until Eric Cole went down. :mad: :(

But I finished in second place. :)
