The 2007 Big DC Event

Are we all in agreement that Events drag down comics or am i in the Minority?

I enjoy a nice event every summer. a major one every 3 to 5 years, small ones every years like war games or the JLA/JSA coming up next year.

But that 13 marvel events going on at once that dont even have any thing to do with each other is ******ed.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Quardians are the Anti-Matter counterparts to the Gaurdians. As far as I know, JLA/Avengers isn't in continuity with Marvel.
I was re-reading "Terra Incognito" I think and there was a Predator mask and an Alien skull in the Trophy Room at the Watchtower. That's pretty wierd too.

The Lightsaber and the predator sword on the intergalactic wall of weapons in the FoS in the batman/superman supergirl arc is cooler IMO:oldrazz:

I'd prefer minor events every other year, major ones every 6 years, and no monocharacter events like War Games.

And yes, if it's done by Quesada's Marvel, it's ******ed.

Lets count them together shall we?

1. Civil War
2. Annihlation
3. Silent War
4. Spiderman the Other
5. Onslaught Reborn
6. House of M
7. Son of M
8. DeciMation
9. Ult Hulk vs Wolverine

all in the course of 2 years. what am I forgetting?

Considering they are still the lifeblood of the major two (really, big events and licensing rake in the biggest bucks), I'd say... no, I don't agree with that. Do I like big events? Sometimes. Are they somewhat necessary? Yes.

10. Planet Hulk
11. World War Hulk (or what ever its called)

Why put restraints on when you can and can't write a big blockbuster story?

They're obviously cranking them out with a certain degree of success. There are always bound to be stinkers (The Other, I'm looking at you!)

Most of these events though have been quite entertaining, and I hope the well of ideas doesn't dry up any time soon. It's a very exciting time to read comics.

And if you don't like it, Giffen said it best "Bite me, fanboy"

I do like some of them (Son of M) but I hate how its not a big deal, ohh look, its onslaught, the biggest villan ever, should we panic? no, we'll work together to defeat him dispide the fact that we just came from a civil war but hey look, the artist added muscles that dont even exist on the human body, so we could take him

I'd hardly call Son of M a big event. It was a 6-issue mini that affected only X-Factor.

guess what? i liked that little mini better than the main one it spawned from

and Silent War is going to be better than that.

Well I hope.

It seems to me that D C and Marvel both seem to be addicted to "change by big event". Ever since the success of "Crisis On Infinite Earths" we have been "treated" to one "big event" after another that "change the universe" (and often seem to screw over characters that I liked !). I think that I would prefer less "big, universe altering events" and more constant evolution of the individual comics. I think that i'm in the minority here unfortunately,

your only option is to stop liking ****ty characters, because thoughs are the ones that are being changed :D
