I think that we've all noticed the current deathfest of the characters from Justice League International, Infinity Inc., and the Charlton Comics characters. I wonder, just who does DC and Dan Didio hate the most:

Charlton Comics
Blue Beetle/Ted Kord (1966 - 2005): Shot in the head by Maxwell Lord in Countdown to Infinite Crisis

Judomaster/Hadley Jaggar (1965 - 2006): Killed by Bane in Infinite Crisis #7

The Question/Charles Victor Szasz (1967 - 2006): Died of cancer in 52 Week Thirty-Four

Infinity Inc
Fury/Lyta Trevor-Hall (1983 - 2006): Goes into the Dreaming in JSA #80

Dr. Fate/Hector Hall (1983 - 2006): Goes into the Dreaming in JSA #80

Jade/Jenny-Lynn Hayden (1983 - 2006): Killed by Alexander Luthor in Infinite Crisis Special: Rann-Thanagar War

Justice League International
Animal Man/Buddy Baker (1965 - ???): Justice League of America #1 and Teen Titans #34 states that Animal Man (along with Starfire), have not returned to Earth once the Crisis has ended. Perhaps Buddy will make a tragic demise during 52!

Blue Beetle/Ted Kord (1966 - 2005): Shot in the head by Maxwell Lord in Countdown to Infinite Crisis

Booster Gold/Michael Jon Carter (1986 - 2006): Blown up in 52 #15

Captain Atom (1987 - 2006?): Possibly killed by creating an explosion destroing the ruins of Bludhaven in Infinite Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven #6

Major Disaster (1966 - 2006): Killed by Superboy-Prime in Infinite Crisis #7

Maxima (1989 - 2001): Killed by Brainaic 13's beams comming from Warworld in Man of Steel #117

Maxwell Lord (1987 - 2005): Neck snapped by Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman #219

Rocket Red/Dmitri Pushkin (1987 - 2005): Sacrificed himself taking down several OMACs in The OMAC Project #5

Sue Dibny (1961 - 2004): Killed by Jean Loring in Identity Crisis #1. Not only that it was revealed that she got raped by Dr. Light!

don't forget Peacemaker, another Charlton character. he was killed by Prometheus in IC #7.

That wasn't Charlton's Peacemaker. The Peacemaker that died in Infinite Crisis was created by DC, not Charlton.

you're right. the original was killed off in the Eclipso series.

Don't forget they killed Superboy, so they obviously hate all clones.

And Blue Beetle is dead, so they hate anyone who wears blue, has goggle or is a tad overweight.

Max Lord is dead, so they hate people who used to be cyborgs but suddenly aren't anymore.

Jean Loring and Sue Dibny are dead, so they hate the wives of super heroes.

OMG ROFL DC H8S EVERYONE!!!!11

No, they hate you. They hate you with all their hearts. Nothing would please them more than if you died.

Is Marvel any better? Any publisher?

My vote was for JLI because from the first issue you knew they were looking to kick the crap out of it ... nice line up fellows.

Yikes. :whatever:

"Better" at what? Hating?

If that's what you mean, then no one is better than anyone: no publisher hates any given set of characters. It's a stupid idea.

I would disagree.

If you look at any publisher, there choice of writer, storyline approvals, marketing etc. indicates they choose certain characters over others all the time.

As long as people keep buying, readers be damned. :csad:

Explain to me how choosing a given set of characters means they hate them? Publishers kill characters because it creates drama, which drums up sales. Why would a publisher hate a set of characters that ups sales?

That is my point. They do nothing with some characters until the sales finally die off ... then bring them back.

one name for my thesis -- Hal Jordan.

whoa, I was only kidding man. no need to get so defensive.

Neither. He creates neither dialogue or discussion only anger.

Silly, silly man. or woman. Not sure.

If I have to explain it you don't understand.:csad:
There's nothing to explain; you're just wrong. Publishers [/i]do not hate characters[/i] Some writer or editor might have personal preference, but DC comics does not collectively hate a group of characters. To assume that a group of characters is targeted because DC hates them is just moronic.

Do you work in publishing? I know that many publishers have characters or lines that they would rather get rid of but they are popular or can create money so they keep them because they need cash.

Bottom line. Cash.

That has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the emotion of hate.

LOL! Leaguer is master debator. No sense in arguing with him.
