I've been expecting and predicting that they would get whipped. The political environment is still very much in Republican's favor, this poll shows a much different picture than what we had a few weeks ago. If the democrats are starting to pick up momentum, then they might not do so bad this November.

Maybe so, but still, losing the House and getting close in the Senate (close enough that Ben NElson can force a tie if not a majority) will be enough though to give Evan Bayh and other pissed off Democrats a jumping off point for an insurgency campaign.

The Democrats are not picking up momentum. The one poll you are showing does not reflect reality. The situations for the Democrats in West Virginia, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin continue to deteriorate. The chances of the Democrats picking up any open seats are now shot. And most projections are showing that the GOP will be taking the House and professional non-partistan analysists are adding more and more seats to the GOP column constantly.

Projections? How can you make projections when every couple of days the numbers are different? Since I posted that poll other news organizations have come out with their polls and they all show democrats picking up steam. It went from being all about Republicans whipping the democrats to what is now a close race.

It looks like Republicans will make gains but they will not take the house or even get close in the Senate. And that is with the way the numbers are right now. If the next few weeks are at all simmiliar to the last few weeks then come election day Republicans wont gain much at all. They are only preferred by Americans by a couple points right now. That's not very good for taking out incumbents.

Republicans will probably make gains, but this wave we have been hearing about was nothing but media hype.

Really? Cook, Sabato, and many others are saying that the Republicans will take the House. And the Republicans are guaranteed to being at least a couple seats short of taking the Senate (Indiana, North Dakota, and Arkansas are guaranteed, and the Republicans are likely to win Wisconsin, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Nevada with West Virginia becoming more and more likely by the day)

You're in denial if you think that the Republicans will not make substantial gains. Flat out denial.

Got my Registration in the mail the other day. Really cut it close. I went to the DMV to update my DL at the same time. After I paid the lady suggested that to ensure I got registered that I head to a voter location. I told her to DO YOUR JOB! I had my 7 month son with me at the DMV and I had had enough of lines.

Thank goodness it all worked out. Bill White needs my vote.

:(

So tough being a Liberal in Texas. :D

I know the feeling. It's tough being a Republican in New York, especially when the state GOP is such a god awful mess.

On the bright side, at least I can say that I fed the Lt. Governor of New York after the elections :awesome:

I defy you to read all the ammendments in the Texas constitution. Like reading the Bible.

Plus even my state democratic candidates are still too conservative for my tastes. Real tough to pinpoint their selling points.

Here you go A&W, an article from Nate Silver's 538, which is nonpartisan and typically very accurate

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytime...ted-republican-gains-approach-50-house-seats/

We do show Democrats with a slightly stronger number on the generic ballot than they had a few weeks ago — down about 6.5 points among likely voters rather than 8. (This is in spite of a Gallup poll which shows a considerably larger advantage for Republicans and a change to the procedure our model uses to calculate its likely voter adjustment). But when one looks at a more diverse set of indicators, as our model does, there are few signs of Democratic momentum.

Yeah, it's a shame that Texas is doing as well as it is.....

That was uncalled for. :D

And I won't go into my laundry list of disputes cause I know you were joking. :p

Did anyone catch the O'Donnell/Coons debate? I missed it And I admit I'm a little curious as to how it went.

I saw short snippits....

The one that I started this morning, but didn't catch all of it where he was saying....

"I'm not a bearded Marxist...." and her reply was something to the effect of....

"I beg to differ with you......let's look at your policies, choices, something like that"....and began listing them.....but I have no idea how that turned out.

Do any politicions make ads that say what they plan to do or thier stands on issues as opposed to just slinging mud on thier opponent?

Most ads start with issues and stances....at least here in CT, but then as we get closer to election time, its all about the mudslinging and making the other guy look bad

voters respond more to that

Remember this:

Well this one is hilarious:

Oh dnno, I may disagree with you almost every time, but you find some of the funniest **** out there :D

Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) is pushing 60 and she still looks great.

Have you seen the latest Coons TV ad? It has various clips of O'Donnell saying such pithy things as "Evolution is a myth", and "There is a scientific company who has crossbred mice that have fully functioning human brains."
That deserves a double Picard (at least)

:facepalm::facepalm:

yea....so the Governors race in CT here is just cringe inducing because both lead candidates are f'ng ******s

Tom Foley is running because he knew he had no shot at Dodds Senate seat and Dan Malloy (former Mayor of Stamford) is just a colossal *****enozzle

now that even new numbers are out it definitely looks like democrats did not pick up any momentum. For a few weeks they closed the gap, and since then republicans have again expanded the gap.

Well not so fast. This poll looks really good for democrats, but almost every other poll tells a different story.

http://www.newsweek.com/2010/10/22/poll-obama-approval-jumps-dems-more-fired-up.html

When only one poll shows a different story as opposed to the rest, I'm going to go with the rest. It's blatantly obvious that this poll is an outlier, especially since there really is no reason for Obama's approval rating to jump (I can understand Dems being a little more fired up, but there is no way in hell that Obama's approval rating is jumping especially since unemployment numbers continue to worsen, the economy continues to be shaky, etc.).

Also, the amount of independents polled is ********. Independents make up the majority of the electorate and yet they poll more Democrats, followed by Republicans, then independents. Absolute ********.

Plus Newsweek is one of the most ridiculously liberal magazines out there....

That is like taking the National Review as the only source to show how the Republicans are going to win back the House, Senate and Presidency in the next 2 years....
