The 2016 Republican Candidates - Part 1

Whatever Hillary, she can't talk on economic issues anymore. I can't take her seriously anymore since she says she wouldn't bail out the big banks if they failed again. She's right there with the rest of the clowns like Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders on that one. Kasich gave a really good response about it in the post debate talk with Neil Cavuto. Essentially he said: you cannot make all decisions based solely on ideology you have to make the practical choice and best choice for the American people. I don't see how you look back at the recession and say TARP was not a huge success that was a key cog in ending the recession and creating recovery. You want to talk about making sure that it doesn't happen again by shrinking the size of the banks, that's fine but to say if there was another financial crisis you would just sit back and let the financial industry collapse is idiotic. George W. Bush knew that, Obama knew that, but apparently Hillary doesn't.

The problem is there isn't an economic crisis at hand now so she can play hardball with her rhetoric. Don't worry, we'll be in another recession by the next inauguration. You can "bank" on that.

The problem America needs to wake up to is that the economy is the greatest threat right now. It needs to be improved so the American people must vote for who they feel is strongest on the economy. The problem we'll face is that the primaries will likely focus on other issues and the economy won't become the dominant issue again until the general, once we've already picked the GOP and Dem nominee. I pray whoever we choose is strong in the economy.

That's good to hear, I suppose I should look at some reactions to see if they line up with reality.

Apparently I'm alone with my views on how well Kasich did last night (and that makes me feel good about my self all things considered). Yes he was interrupting but he was interrupting with direct op positional views, not just some rehearsed talking point. We was presenting an argument. We need pragmatism. He oozes it.

Cruz was his usual self, very intelligent but he made a Rick Perry mistake last night and nobody wants to call him for it? He's the smartest man on the stage and he can't recite 5 agencies to cut?

Hillary is just trying to secure progressive votes from Bernie.

She's all about the status quo. Just like "hope and change" Obama was after he got elected.

Regardless, that sort of talk should be repudiated and the media should hold her accountable for it but they won't. You can't say things like that or "Republicans are my enemies" it is absolutely irresponsible and reprehensible.

Hearing them harp on how much we need to fund and expand the military was making me gag. Our military is one of the biggest in the world, if not THE biggest. They're completely out of touch.

Not really, we are reaching a time where we have sort of been making newer and better versions of the same thing over the years. We need to focus on new technologies. For example, we are overly reliant on our aircraft carriers and with China and Russia developing more effective anti-ship missiles in a new report shows that we are actually very vulnerable because most of our aircraft our designed for short range attacks. If they were to take out our aircraft carriers our air force would not be as effective. So we will need to invest in aircraft that can travel over longer distances essentially we need to diversify a little bit. It doesn't matter how much we spend if we haven't been spending it effectively. The issue is we will probably need to increase expenditure for a time in order to reorganize and like I said diversify our military and invest in new technologies. Then maybe we can talk about decreasing military spending, but now doesn't look like a good time to do it.

I am very concerned about Trump winning this thing. South Park may have predicted exactly the outcome.

Won't happen, the way the primary system is set up. Moderate Republicans hold too much sway because the blue states vote later in the primary system so they get more delegates assigned to them.

That's why I think Trump and Carson will win a couple states here and there but it'll eventually be someone like Rubio who'll win the nomination as long as he doesn't have any bad debate performances or says something head-slappingly stupid.

It won't matter in the end. Normally the extreme candidates split the vote up between them and then the lone moderate sails to victory. However this time it's different. There are to many "relatively" moderate candidates running and basically Trump and Carson are splitting the extreme vote between them. The only way I could see Trump or Carson losing is if *ALL* the other candidates drop out and there is only one moderate candidate left.

My guess right now is Rubio gets the nomination.

I can't believe people buy into his neocon chicken hawk rhetoric. Sort of scary. Sort of sad when Donald Trump sounds more sane on foreign policy but Republicans generally love fearing people how we need to spend trillions on defense(but hey we want to cut the budget)

I don't buy into it one bit, but looking at the field I think the RNC is going with Rubio.

I think it will be Trump or Rubio.

It's crazy, but it does seem like that's what's going to happen. I think Carson being a liar is becoming a problem, and he lacks the resources Trump has.

I kept saying don't count Jeb out but... yeah, I think Jeb might withdraw any day now. That or his loved ones will have an intervention and force him to withdraw. He's making a fool of himself.

Jeb would probably be relieved if his family forced him out.

You could tell this all a just a half hearted attempt to fulfill his families legacy.

I almost feel bad for him.

With Rubio and Hillary both being so fake in the debates, I wonder how the country would decide who is faker

I can believe it. Rand's foreign policy views were on the rise within the GOP, but then Vladimir Putin and ISIS had to kill all that momentum and restore the status-quo of neo-conservatism. Those two things really made the traditional views of the Pauls completely unacceptable, especially within the Republican Party.

I find the huge mental disconnect of party saying they support small government and an powerful and large military industrial complex at the same time amusing.

According to many Republicans we need all citizens to be armed to protect us from a tyrannical government, but creating a more powerful military that be the greatest tool for a tyrannical government is okay. The GOP also never seems to factor in military spending in their debt reduction plans. Its like someone who says they want to lose weight, but insists on eating a cake every night, it is a self defeating exercise. The GOP will not truly take on debt reduction if they do not shrink the size of the military industrial complex.

I've paid close attention to this upcoming election. I've watched all 4 Republican Debates and the 1 Democrat debate.

I like Rubio and Christie and those two have been my picks since the first debate. I hope Christie gets back on the main stage for the next debate.

I think if Trump or Carson gets the nomination, the Republican party can kiss the presidency goodbye.

Just my opinion.

If by some reverse miracle Christie became president he would be one of the hated Republicans in history.

Bush was folksy and disarming.

Christie is just an desperste, obese football lineman playing General Patton in front of West Point.

It's embarrassing.
