Tintin's face looks a bit too baby-ish for me. In fact he doesn't really resemble Herge's drawings at all.

Isn't he supposed to look kind of young for his age anyway?

Yes, but he looks like a cherub there. Tintin gives off a young vibe but not like that.

It's cause he's in three dimensions. He's always had a cherub quality even in two dimensions.

He looks more inquisitive and feisty there rather than 'cherub'.

I'm still not sure why this movie is CG. They said that they wanted to stay close to how the books looked, but the character designs and the tone are completely different. The character designs are so different from the ones in the books that they may as well have just shot in live action, and while the books had a very light color-on-white-paper look, the movie is very dark and the colors are muted.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if they wanted to do this film in CG, they should have gone all the way and had Dreamworks Animation make it, with colorful visuals and highly stylized characters. If they wanted it to resemble live action, they should have done it in live action, and found actors who resembled the characters. The whole movie just looks like a waste of resources, even ignoring the fact that motion capture movies already have a bad reputation for disappointing.

This trailer came out of the blue, because I didn't expect it to come so soon after the teaser.

Anyway, the trailer was ****ing awesome. The visuals looks really amazing, WETA has outdone themselves. This film hasn't moved down from the top of my most anticipated films this year yet, and after seeing this trailer I'm sure it will not. :woot:

P.S. was it me or did Sakharine sound like Craig, because if it's him then it's possible that Sakharine is a relative to Red Rackham?

have you notice how they always cut away of their faces when they talk? hawe you f... noticed how in a 2:30 minutes trailer they showed only 2 close up shots of characters talking?

this is it. no denial here. they are afraid showing close ups of the faces. and talking.

a: the animation doesnt work
b: there are not close ups when they talk.

Would you just calm down? It probably means the effects aren't finished yet for those scenes. The movie's not out until December, so they have plenty of time to get it done! Btw, the trailer was GREAT!

whait. didnt you see 2 minuts and 30 seconds of footage? you thin kthat WETA is first rendering body shots and at the end faces?

This struck me as well. I've always been optimistic for this film, and what I've seen still beats any Zemeckis film, but the warning signs are there.

I liked that trailer a lot. Even though they might have shown too much.

If it had never been publicized that this was mo-cap movie, I really don't think most people would notice. People are just prejudiced against the technology and will bi*** about it no matter how it looks.

Also looking at post 858 and 857 at the same time, id say the design of Tin Tin was translated well. I don't know what some people are complaining about. Were they expecting him to have dots for eyes still?

Good trailer, Spielberg has definitely captured the tone of the comic books, although I knew that he would get that part easily. While I'm still weary of the whole motion capture for this it doesn't looked bad from the glimpse I've seen for it.

This doesn't apply to me. In fact before mo-cap movies were even a thing I thought about such movies existing and was excited for them. I was very excited for Beowulf. But now as more of them come out I just think they're a bad idea. Only Avatar has made it work, and that sort of doesn't count.

No, but I didn't expect him to have the eyes of a 3-year-old either.
