This movie looks like it could be pretty good. I always liked the cartoon as a kid and this has a lot of talent behind it too, so I'll definitely consider seeing it.

A little tip of the hat to The Last Crusade there. :D

I would have liked a classic Tintin book cover more but I already have a negative feeling about this movie so....

I haven't seen a Tintin cartoon in ages nor read the books, but I'm liking how the movie looks so far.

Hey! I saw a standee of Tintin with that image a couple of months ago. :p

It doesn't look as uncanny valley as it did before, they actually do look more like cariactures.

I still think they would have been better off either just using actors with makeup, or skipping the mocap and making the characters fully animated and closer to the original character designs. They basically spent $200 million to get the same effect as the Popeye movie, but less effective.

Its not defeated unless people besides message board posters actually believe it as well.

Really? That's a pretty bad argument, mate. Message board posters are people too. We are the general public. And while I'll admit it's premature to say it's defeated until we see the movie, those pictures look pretty damn good.

Saying it is defeated because you say so is not an argument at all mate.

And I'm not your mate, pal.

you can not have uncanny valley with stylized looking characters. its only used for photorealism

Face it, this is NOT uncanny valley folks! they aren't replicating real life human beings, they are replicating comic and cartoon characters. Now if replicating a real human being is uncanny valley like you seen on Polar Express.

Spielberg and Jackson were not impressed by Zemeckis's stuff as they are making cartoon characters come to life. These Mocap people are similar to the same ones from Monster House and that was an excellent movie as that movie conquered the uncanny Valley and had no dead eyes.

This IS NOT from Imagemovers, it's from WETA as WETA knows what they are doing on this movie.

WETA conquered Mocap uncanny valley with LOTR, King Kong, Avatar and Rise of the Apes.
