LOL

Spider-Man 3 is awful. I'll say I think it has the best swinging mechanics, but as a whole? Garbage.

I don't know, there was some fun in it. It's not garbage. There's some things wrong with it but it's still decent.

Obviously the graphics haven't aged well, but it still can be fun to play.

The gang missions are TERRIBLE, the interactive cinematics are ****ing boring, the graphics were ABYSMAL even for that time, jesus I could go on for days.

Guys....I hope that the swing system is not like this game. This game webs attached to buildings but they removed the momentum and bottom of the swing features from SM2. They also got rid of the loop maneuver when your attached to a building.

It certainly sounds similar. Just pressing R2 and L2 is not enough Beenox. I hope it's not just R2 R2 R2 then L2. And tbh all they really had to do was copy and paste SM2's system and improve it further. I don't understand why they decide to keep doing their own thing. I hope we are pleasantly surprised this week.

Well...

"It’s hard to compare, but our web swinging system is different than in the previous game. You now need to use the right or left trigger to swing right or left, plus you can boost with the opposite trigger (if you swing with the right trigger and then press the left trigger you will gain momentum). If you release early, you will go further, if you release late, you will go higher. Also, since the web attach to structures, depending on how far you are on the left or the right of the attach point, your turn will be sharp or not."

To me it sounds like it might be challenging to master, but I do fear that they might get it wrong. Hopefully not.

To this day I still don't get the incredibly exaggerated hate that game receives
It's a good game, and the victim of awful reviews

Eh, missions are missions, like in any other game
I won't say anything defending the interactive cinematics
The graphics hate is another exaggeration, a bunch of big open world games have similar graphics, just more stains added to walls and streets and a bit more polished paint job

Agreed, it wasn't terrible. I think I had more fun with that game than the movie it was based off of.

The web swinging was still fun, the random activities were a little downgraded compared to Spider-man 2 though.

I never had a PS2 so i never played the free roam version of SM2 but i do own SM3 on my PS3. Would you guys say that it has the same web swinging system like SM2?

SM2 swinging system has a notable difference in allowing you to select the type of swinging before starting the game, one mode is for switching hands while swinging, the other is for the one you play in SM3
Swinging in Spider-Man 2 is faster

Hard to say really, Spider-man 3 had better animations but I think they felt quite the same really. You could do more with Spider-man 2's swinging however. Like at any time when your swinging you can press the left trigger to shoot a second web line. If you had two weblines in your hands you could catapult Spidey with them. There was also air tricks you could buy. I don't think Spider-man 3 had air tricks. You could shoot two weblines at once with Spider-man 3 but it wasn't as flexible as Spider-man 2.

For example, if you did it with Spider-man 3 you were only able to do it one way, pressing both triggers at the same time. With Spider-man 2 however you could be webswinging and then choose whenever you wanted another web line at any time so you could experiment a bit with the swinging.

This is precisely the attitude that leads people into accepting totally mediocre games.

If developers care about the game, then missions aren't just treated like missions in "any other game". That's a lazy critique.

I do agree with you there.

I want a Spider-Man MMORPG set in NYC (at least include both Manhattan and Queens). Maybe do an adaptation of Spider-Island where everybody has spider powers and you get to customize what variation of Spider-Man you are.

I'm not sure how a Spider-man MMO would work? Would every player be Spider-man? That would be lame. The player is Spider-man but so is this guy...and this guy...and that guy. 100s of Spider-men all over NYC. The fun with Spider-man games is that you are Spider-man, and no one else is. That surge of pride you get when you swing by citizens and they adore you, chanting or looking in awe at you because you're unique because you are their protector. That immersion of being Spider-man would be lost.

I was watching the Spiderman 3(Ps3) video on youtube and the swinging was very boring. Swinging cannot just be fire web fire web fire web. It's not very dynamic.

Well not every person has to be Spider-Man (or have his exact powers). Maybe you can play as villains or variations of them, spider slayers, symbiotes, etc.

IDK it was just an idea.

A MMO like DC Universe would be cool! Marvel version with Spider-man and Wolverine and Captain America as mentors to your created superhero!

It would be cool if you choose to be a villain it would be cool to have the option to have symbiote powers. The villain mentors could be... Apocolypse, Green Goblin and maybe Kingpin? IDK..

Maybe an MMORPG for the whole Marvel universe would work better for the sake of diversity. :)

I just got into Star Trek online and was wishing I could have a similar game with Spider-Man, that's all. lol

This is the argument I have as counter-argument for the extra difficulty and excess fuss I hear and read about this game
I did compare the game hated with other more popular and well accepted games, the only difference added here are Spider-Man powers and characters

I don't accept mediocre games, but I also discredit mediocre complaints
I mean ****, one game does one thing right and it's approved, the other game does the same thing right, modifying it to fit the other game style, and it is bashed mercilessly

If developers care about the game, then missions aren't just treated like missions in "any other game". That's a lazy critique.
PFFT, it's not like Batman Arkham Asylum has REALLY improved anything, even that game has missions just like any other effing action-adventure game, walk, beat guys, walk, beat guys, move around, beat guys, boss fight.

Seriously people, relax and quit picking on one game too much
Controls are responsive
Actions fit the characters
Environment fits the mood
What else do you ask for?

ALMOST every critique Spider-Man 3 the game receives is stuff common in ever other ****ING GAME, so for ****'s sake don't mind me when I say quit complaining, I talk after a long time of open mindedness and comparing every ****ING NOTE NEEDED TO COMPARE TO AGREE OR DISAGREE, THE COMPLAINTS ARE RIDICULOUSLY OVER THE TOP

Spider-Man 2 swinging should be noted in the 7 wonders of the world.

Nobody to this day knows what Treyarch did make such a beautiful thing.

Literally, that swinging mechanic could be just reskinned today with better graphics and still be amazing.

Dude, there is already a Marvel MMO. It's called Marvel Heroes. It is free.

I don't understand why this isn't already a thing. I have Spider-Man Web of Shadows and while I enjoy the fact that the game gave gamers the first free-flow combat system (Batman Arkham Citywas late to the party but gets all of the credit) and some truly radically acrobatic combat antics that ring true for Spidey, the web swinging putters out as being perfunctory. No more attaching only to buildings. No more mid air stops or realistically changing one's velocity. Spider-Man 2 remains a thing of genius. Though, Web of Shadows does have awesome wall crawling. I love the wall sprint.
