atleast the ASM games are not as bad as the iron man games. and atleast these games are being attempted

My personal wish list for the next Spidey game...

Not a movie game, but loosely based on the film universe
Some, not alot but some Peter Parker missions
If there is two games to take inspiration from it's inFamous and Prototype, DO NOT TRY AND COPY F***ING BATMAN!
Swinging from buildings, not mid air
Have Mysterio has villain, please... :(

Forgot to add this,
Anyone want to see them try something quite different, prepare yourselves...

A first person Spidey game that is kinda like mirrors edge? Just think of this...

Soooo..... ASM the game?

The first game was garbage, didn't even finish it. Hated the mechanics, they took a step in the wrong direction with the swinging. Felt like SM1 the game. Horrid game.

It's not like SM1 the game :cmad:
Thugs in ASM are not faster in attacking than Spider-Man is

ASM the game was based on the film universe. What I'm talking about is a game which is loosely based on it i.e same characters and tone but they are not cannon at all.
That definition applies to the game I posted its cover

Lets just wait and see how this plays out. But I seriously hope they learned their lesson and listen to the fans.

Beenox has always listened to fans. It's just that while they listen to fans, they seem to forget everything else :P

Like, people begged for free roam after SD and EoT. People also begged for free flow combat. Beenox listened and gave us both of that. However, they completely forgot about web swinging, side missions etc.

I guess that they will listen to us now as well and give us better web swinging, random events, better boss fights and hopefully a more accurate city. Because that's what fans have been the most disappointed about in ASM. They'll probably focus 100% on that and therefore forget about other stuff such as making the combat more fluid, give more variation to stealth, not make the A.I. lose sight of you so easily, make better looking and more varied goons, not make Spidey just fire web bullets, have better puzzles etc.

Which will make the next game feel as incomplete as the previous one. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That really isn't saying much.

I agree with both of these.

I knew it would be unpopular, does it not even remotely interest any of you?

A first-person Spider-man game? Absolutely no interest in that, thank you.

You'd hope they would improve all facets of the gameplay but I can't deny the probability of what you're saying. However, Beenox has always been good about listening to the fans and their criticisms, so who knows. One thing is for sure...I hope Beenox is more forthcoming with the info/details about the game than they were last time.

Yeah, well I don't want to blame Beenox too much either. And I know of course that you're not either, I just want to clarify my post :P I absolutely love their genuine care. It's great that they listen to the fans, obviously. I also think it's obvious that the guys at Beenox really care about the character. I think it's a matter of time, really. They don't get enough time to polish Everything so they focus heavily one what the fans crave. Unfortunately, that's not enough. So, I don't think Beenox are stupid and go "oops, didn't think about that", but that they get into situations where they have to prioritate.

I do think those DLC things for ASM were totally unnecessary though, but that's most likely a demand from Activision.

If they fix all the disappointments from ASM, it will sure be an improvement. I do think however that unless Activision shows more care for their devs works, it will still end up feeling incomplete in a way.

Def don't think Beenox is stupid about making the games and I know you don't either...just pointing that out. They have a love of the character and imo a decent amount of talent in their studio however it really does come down to a time factor with these games. Especially one that is so restricted like a movie tie-in. Their development schedule will only allow for them to tackle so much and they indeed do have to prioritize about what to work on and to what extent. They only got ASM to about 80% polished of what they originally intended, according to that Activision producer. That's a time related issue.

I do think those DLC things for ASM were totally unnecessary though, but that's most likely a demand from Activision.

Absolutely unecessary and incredibly lame as well. Again, it's a time factor. For everything you work on for the game, there's something that you can't. Choosing to spend time developing those ridiculous DLCs was a very bad decision imo. A waste of time and effort that could have been spent making the Spider-man portion of the game that much better.

If they fix all the disappointments from ASM, it will sure be an improvement. I do think however that unless Activision shows more care for their devs works, it will still end up feeling incomplete in a way.

I do expect an improvement over ASM but to what degree remains a mystery. I fully hope Beenox is able to make considerable strides but again I need to see proof before I'll commit to being outwardly positive about the game.

First step towards a better Spider-Man game is getting Spidey out of Activision's hands, with or without Beenox.

Amen. Activision really hasn't given much of a thought towards Spidey this generation, and Beenox, at their very best, is about sub-par at making a game. Spidey games CAN sell as much as the Rocksteady Batman games, but nobody seems to be wanting to put as much effort. Its a shame imo.

Honestly, doesn't it baffle anyone else? I mean...Spidey literally lends himself to be such an awesome videogame character. The formula for a great game is right freaking there in front of these devs faces. Yet they never commit to it. Its really frustrating to me.

I know there are people that are satisfied with Shattered Dimensions/Web of Shadows etc. But you can hardly deny that the games could be waaay better, even if you did like it!

The city being dead after finishing ASM was bad, but what really brought the game down for me were the absolutely boring and repetitive boss fights with the cross-species. Beenox did a nice job with boss fights in Shattered Dimensions for the most part. Sometimes you had to stick to the shadows or throw stuff, there was some variety to the fights. ASM was just beat 'em up the same way as thugs for the cross-species fights.

However, ASM did look pretty good graphics wise. Web rush was cool and the free-flow combat was fine. I liked the Easter egg photography missions too. Beenox's primary focus is making Spidey games so they've had a good amount of time already to get ASM 2 on track. Hopefully, they'll expand on what worked in ASM 1 and make the boss battles with variety. Add plenty of side missions (that still pop up after finishing the game) and pour on the Easter eggs as Rocksteady does.

As others have said, there is little excuse as to why we haven't had a really epic Spidey game yet. I don't really care about AAA quality cinematics as much as a Spidey game that I'd wanna play over and over again like the Arkham games. While Beenox isn't the biggest developer, it's clear they care about the property. I think they could make such a Spidey game, but it would probably take more backing and time than Activision wants to give them.

I actually wouldn't mind something like this if it meant that I'd have proper control over the webswinging (with maybe a crosshair so I can decide where the webs go to + which webshooter is used for the webswing. That way I could use 2 weblines to swing or a button to grab onto the webline with both hands).

I'm fine with everything they do in regards of web swinging if they manage to nail the following points:
- proper control of webswinging (I don't need a crosshair but I'd love to be able to swing DOWNWARDS, like when I fall down from the oscorp building, I actually want to shoot a web to the wall 50m below me to my right so I can get a huge speed boost)
- Realistic physics (I want to see webswinging similar to the one we saw in the movie, especially the part where Peter races to the oscorp tower with the cranes in the street. The web should behave realistically and not always be a straight line, you slow down as you reach the peak height and then fall down etc)
- Momentum has to be integrated, I want to literally feel and see the speed of my webswings (the gif demonstrates this perfectly, if they'd manage to capture the "speed and physics feeling" of the gif I'd buy this in a heartbeat)
