Imagine if they worked together! I think it would be disappointing to find out Webb was leaving. Who would take his place?

It would be such a different movie without him, I can't see someone stepping in like that. So much of this movie is him and it's obvious. Someone congratulated him on Twitter for having the biggest Tuesday opening ever and he said it's surreal. He did well, I really hope he comes back.

Haha, if they ever get the red tape out of the way, an Avengers sequel where Spidey joins the group, co-directed by Webb and Whedon. Cue pants creaming worldwide.

No thanks,Spidey is too big for those heroes

No offence but I am reminded of a saying 'The Lion comes alone, only wolfs come in packs'

Avi said he hopes Webb comes back. I'm sure once this weekend is over he'll be even more hopeful. I really don't think this movie would've been as good as it was without him

With that uneven script, he handled it very well.

The sequel was gonna get made regardless of the money it made.

Yeah Webb really put his heart into the movie.

I really would like to see him finish the Death of Gwen Stacy saga.

Aloha,
I like how you think. It's the female factor that is going to blow fan boys predictions out of the water. They got Webb to direct this movie because of that (among other things). This is a action/adventure date movie.Moreso than most.I'll go out on a limb here and predict that when the stats are totaled. The Amazing Spider-Man had a higher female attendance than any other comic book movie.
Spidey rules

Hey DT, what's up?

Did you like ASM?

I'm not so certain.

But the more money this makes the more likely the same creative team will be used for the sequel which is important to many people.

It had a release date like a year before the movie came out, writers on board, and no doubt discussions about it now. It would make Sony look bad if they went back on all of that.

Now of course, you can never depend on a Spider-Man film to flop. But if came to disappointing numbers, we still would have gotten a sequel.

So far , only fans are saying that is what the sequel will be about .
Sometimes I think people want Gwen in this film,
Because they want to kill her in the next one .

You do know that most of the Avengers have their own solo movies too, right? And becoming #3 movie of all time both domestically and WW makes The Avengers just as big or bigger than other superheroes like Spider-Man.

You know, it's bad enough dealing with the stupid Marvel vs DC crap on here, but when people start cannibalizing material from the same company, that just enters a whole new realm of *****baggery.

TBH honest I am not a big fan of MCU movies,Barring the Avengers and IM1,all of the others were pretty average movies at best,Average at the box office aswell

Atleast we're sure that this movie will earn truckloads even if it isnt received well

And as I said, the individual movies are average at best

And 'Avengers' is group of what 6-7 heroes while Spidey is alone here.Still he does a good job of standing against them both Fan base wise and earning wise

And individually not one of them is a patch of Spiderman in terms of fanbase.Which is why I beleive he'll be a misfit

Man, the theater I went to today was Packed to the Gills. And it was the big theater too, and a matinee. No 3D.

and yet by the critic reviews, TASM is below the MCU films except TIH, which is about where I would put it.

If you're saying that Spider-man has more earning potential than Captain America, well hello Captain Obvious. Last time I checked the first three movies made over a billion.

All the heroes within Avengers have widely varying popularity. Iron Man is too big for the likes of Black Widow right? Yeah except that doesn't mean anything or have any consequence. A Spidey cameo in a future Avengers film (maybe not Avengers 2) would be great for Avengers and would be good marketing for the new Spider-man films as well. Plus it shows audiences how good an integrated universe can be.

If Feige, can convince Sony it will be in their best interest to cross promote the films, I could possibly see it happening. I guess the question is how much do they want to push this.

The struggle for Marvel right now is they are getting into the realm of 2nd and 3rd tier characters to promote. The ones that I think could do well would be Ant Man/Wasp, Black Panther, Dr. Strange and Namor. Outside of those 4, they will need some superior script writers to move forward.

Theater was packed today for my matinee showing. Of course, it's the Fourth, and that's to be expected.

Yep, I don't want to detract from the Spider-man box office talk but 3 of those properties have a great chance. Ant Man/Wasp I think is hardest to translate, Black Panther easiest. If we go down any further I don't really know how big the market for minor superheroes is beyond single films. People want to see the big guns and have interest in the B heroes but I think most don't want to watch more than about 4 comic films a year so it will be very challenging as you go past the 2nd tier.

Mutually beneficial scenarios with overlapping properties at different studios are of course possible. I think something like the Spidey crossover will happen one day. Marvel films doing well is good for other Marvel films and comic films doing well is good for others (except when they have release dates too close to each other :cmad:). This summer proves it with all 3 hopefully doing huge business worldwide.
