I just got this from Amazon.com last night in the mail! :D So far I've read up to ASM #2. So in a short while I'm going to continue with #3. It'll be great to finally be able to read parts of storylines I've never had.

Anyone else have this?

I bought mine year ago. It's great! I couldn't believe how cheap it was. Only downside is that you only get Amazing, not Peter Parker, Web of nor anything else. Not even for important storylines or multi-series events.

I agree, I would've liked to have those as well, but once again, considering the price and what you get, it is a must buy!

What's it like reading comics on the computer? I get annoyed reading previews on the web, is it a pain in the ass? What's the quality of the art pages, especially the really old issues?

It's actually not bad at all. The quality is great, and it's not annoying at all. All you have to do is zoom in a bit to read it better, and you're fine.

First it bugs you to zoom around, but you get used to it after ten or so issues.

Here, I'll give you an advice; buy it. You don't only get stories, but also letter pages and hilarious 60's adds.:woot:

Meh, I bought this a few years ago. I read a couple dozen issues from it (on a laptop...much better than a desktop), but then I semi-cheated and downloaded all of ASM in .cbr format to read with CDisplay. I guess you could consider that stealing, but I bought the Marvel-distributed collection anyway, so really, what's the difference? I prefer it MUCH more to Adobe reader. Read several hundred issues that way.

^^ I like Adobe and CDisplay an equal amount. I mean, CDisplay is bigger/zoomed in and somewhat easier to read, but Adobe is fantastic as well, IMO.

I'm still waiting to get some money so I can get this. From what I hear, it is an excellent collection and well worth the price. I've missed a lot of issues of ASM, so this is a great way for me to catch up.

I love mine. I have most of the collections that Marvel released. Unfortunately, they won't be coming out with anymore. They pulled their contract with the company that was making them (mostly due to the online comics they're now offering.)

I have to admit, although I was very resistant to it, I now prefer the CDisplay format. I love the format that Marvel Online uses, but there are some glitches that I don't like about it that prevents me from signing up...

I'm such an old fogey about this....and I've never even used the term "fogey" before.

I would rather read comics as books, and not on the computer. A friend of mine just got me the Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus, so I'm getting to enjoy the entire Lee/Ditko run in full color....and, if someone shoots at me, the book is thick enough to stop of defleft the bullet! My wife marvelled at its size and weight...I don't think my grandmother's bible is even this big!!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind having the Discs, but I've got enough of the Essentials/trades/issues/reprints/hardcovers at this point, that I may as well see it through.

I don't think you'll get much argument that the physical copies are the most enjoyable reading experience. But I can fit thousands and thousands and thousands of comics on my 1TB hard drive (a Birthday present from my awesome girlfriend :) ) that makes it just way too convenient to not have them.

1TB HARDDRIVE?!?!:wow:

She IS an awesome girlfriend. The last gf I had got me a graded copy of ASM #300 and a copy of ASM#252....so I married her! WOmen who give great gifts rule!!

I've got the DVD-ROM version, and have gotten quite I kick out of re-reading the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko/John Romita issues as well as some of the late 80s early 90s ones I read growing up. The only real complaint I've got is that since its only Amazing Spider-Man, you have a bunch of incomplete stories since some crossed over into other titles, the excellent Kraven's Last Hunt being one of them. Still, I find it a blast reading those early letters pages. Not to mention the early ads with heroes eating pies. :woot:

It's kind of funny in a lame way. For my last b-day, she had gotten me a 30G HD and I quickly filled it up. For the next Christmas, she got me an 120G one, and she said, "That should last you for a while." I didn't tell her that I filled that one up in a couple of weeks. Then she saw me cruisin' Amazon. I told her I had some Gift Cards to blow with them, and I was thinking of getting one of those fancy-schmancy 1TB drives. She asked if I was still using the old one, and I lied and said, "Oh, yeah, but you can never have too much memory, you know... :O " When she gave me the latest one she said, "We'll talk in a year...."

My wife is secretly looking for an AF #15 to give to me someday (by surprise)... :yay:

Wow! I just ordered this off of amazon, and came here, expecting to find a thread a few pages back, but here it is! Ayhoo, I just ordered it, and got one day shipping on it. It'll be here Monday! :D

To Themanofbat: You have an awesome wife! The money and time required to get a copy of AF #15 are a HUGE investment! I'm very jealous! :P

You'll enjoy it, that's for sure. I went on vacation, got distracted, but today I picked up where I left off, and it's still a lot of fun to be reading the comics. :)

Are you still in Ditko days? IMO Ditko was better plotter than Lee. And his direction seemed more interesting than the one that Lee did with Romita. When Romita came, and Stan once again plotted himself, Peter became too "cool" IMO. He got motorcycle, friends, own apartment with Harry and actually pretty good self-esteem. I'd like to hear what Ditko would wanted originally do with Goblin, MJ, Gwen, etc.

apparently all i can find is a DVD ROM version???????

INTERACTIVE COMICS????????? LAME.
